Sometimes writers distance themselves from religious subjects. Religion is still taboo to speak about. Read about it instead.
According to 2 Nephi 26:33, God “doeth that which is good among the children of men; and he doeth nothing save it be plain unto the children of men; and he inviteth them all to come unto him and partake of his goodness; and he denieth none that come unto him, black and white, bond and free, male and female; and he remembereth the heathen; and all are alike unto God, both Jew and Gentile.
I might be stretching this scripture beyond all reason by suggesting that the word black refers to race in the above scriptural reference. I most likely am. But, the fact that ALL humans are alike to the Lord is not a stretch of the imagination. God values Black people. He desires Black people to be like Him and to return to Him.
If every life matters to God, that INCLUDES Black lives. This flies in opposition of some of the rhetoric from instigators I have read on the internet saying, “Let’em kill each other!” Now, that phrase has come from both good and bad people. It has been uttered by White and Black people. It was in reference to one group or another.
What is wrong with saying Black Lives Matter?
Does that negate the lives of the other six billion+ people on the planet? All lives do not experience the same effects from society as [insert group here] lives around the world or in America. All lives matter. But ...
If humanity was a body and each ethnic or race grouping represented a body part, and one of the parts of the humanity-body was hurting, which part of the body matters more, the part that hurts or the parts doing relative well? I tend to favor the hurting parts of my body, as do most people--tending to it, relieving it of pain, seeing specialists about it, taking supplements for it, etc.
A professor asked a group of White people in a meeting if they would like to be treated with the same respect Black people in America are treated to stand. How many White people stood? No one. From this tiny example, it is noteworthy to frankly question if society thinks that Black lives matter. In theory. they do. In practice ... needs improvement.
Jesus Christ revealed that “the love of men shall wax cold, and iniquity shall abound” referring to what shall happen in the last days before the advent of Christ second coming. Stating that any group of people, irrespective of their race, ethnicity, or affiliation, should cease to exist is the height of anti-Christ behavior. It is the prerogative of God to determine who should cease and who should continue. Love and decency towards people are diminishing. This trending enmity towards groups of people is heartbreaking because, in many places in America, people are now gaining a sense of equality where they can expect decency.
Society cannot absolve itself of its responsibility to its members without bring a curse and wrath upon everyone of a just God. All humans are keepers to each other, though it is only "natural" as in instinctual to side with those more similar in culture and physical appearance than those of divergent lifestyles and cultures. The "natural," however, is opposed to heavenly or celestial thinking. Only when natural desires comply with spiritual enlightenment from God can a solution to the problems of society come about.
Good men and women of faith are supposed to see after humanity—to be the salt of the earth. Good people are supposed to examine why so many Blacks kill each other and seek a way to halt the violence—to care. For Christians, it is a direct command from Jesus to love all people no matter their differences, including enemies. That is not natural or instinctual. Jesus taught and teaches His followers to elevate themselves above the "flesh pots" (Exodus 16:3) of Egypt or the natural instinctual aspects of the human conditions of mortal life.
There should be investigations into why so many Black men die in police custody, whether it is the fault of the detainee or not, to make sure justice is truly blind in the United States and all free societies. Investigating why one group disproportionately experiences a particular set of circumstances does not circumvent other groups' importance or value.
The solution is the Gospel of Jesus Christ in its fullness, because “the preaching of the word had a great tendency to lead the people to do that which was just—yea, it had had more powerful effect upon the minds of the people than the sword, or anything else, which had happened unto them,” (Alma 31:5). No social program will work to make Black lives matter to other Blacks killing each other in America or any other group experiencing such a plague of conflict save the gospel, which is:
- Love of God, and
- Love of Fellow-beings.
Good people should still try.
There is an abundance of blame to spare and share.
If a segment of society screams, “Ouch, you are hurting me!”
Society should respond, “How can we change that?” …and then work on it.
Black lives matter too, not only because they are human beings and deserve the protection of the law with equal significance as other people, but because they are children of God. This group is treated like a relative that no one wanted to invite to the party by some people.
Black people who suffer could very well be the means to their own destruction, just like the Nephites destroyed themselves. God endeavored with great measures to recover the Nephites, but they rebelled and became extinct as a nation. God works for all of His Children that are lost, including Black people. True followers of the teachings of Jesus Christ seek to recover the lost and fallen and endeavor to restore dignity to the image of God, which image Black people or [insert ethnic or racial grouping here] people have.

What is the Gospel of Jesus Christ, Norine? It is Jesus suffering, dying, and resurrecting so that the plan of God for humanity can go forward, Love. Love God, and love your neighbor. That is the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Where do I find this picture of Jesus with black kids? I love it!

Oh yes, we "AGREE" on that! Galatians 1:6-9 says "I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the GRACE of CHRIST unto another gospel: Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would PERVERT the GOSPEL of CHRIST. But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we (Paul) have preached unto you, let him be accursed. As we said before, so say I now again, IF ANY MAN PREACH ANY OTHER GOSPEL unto you that that you have received, LET HIM BE ACCURSED!" Therefore, it would behoove one to "study" (II Timothy 2:15) to find out what Paul taught!

Thanks for commenting Norine. I will check out The Golden Rule. Also, as I stated in the article, it IS only the gospel of Jesus Christ that will save the US, the world. I am glad that we can agree on that.

Billybuc, the answer is JESUS!
Anyone who is racist is Anti-Christ! If Jesus said "There is neither Jew nor Greek "IN" Christ Jesus" (Galatians 3:28), what else can one be who practices racism but Anti-Christ?
Rod, if "the country will never find a solution to this problem," the country will never accept Jesus as their Lord and Savior! I believe Scripture which says "And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in ALL the world for a witness unto ALL nations; and then shall the end come" (Matthew 24:14)! Therefore, IT will "be preached" and everyone will be given an opportunity to "Repent" but not ALL will accept!
Find time to go back my aunt's restaurant in Phoenix! It's called "The Golden Rule" and tell Baby Ray; Norine sent you!

The country will never find a solution to this problem. It is something that each individual has to decide to change within him or herself.

What's the answer, my friend? I really want to know. How does this country ever find a solution to this race problem? Racism will never totally disappear, but how do we at least whittle it down a bit so it's not so ridiculously obvious? I marched in Civil Rights marches back in the 60s and I'm still waiting for the day when racism is an oddity rather than the norm.
