Through Fearful Times

Has it ever happened to you? The fear of not knowing what is going to happen next week, next month or next year consumes your thoughts causing you great anxiety and stress. Don’t fret no one is immune to moments of fear of the unknown. In fact no one can truly know what is going to happen in life so they automatically fear the worst.

Some of these fears include but are not limited to fear of the unknown, fear of others or fear their live will not go well. While fear can be crippling God’s word does offer many verses which when taken to heart can ease those fears.

Here are twenty encouraging Bible verses to help in fearful times:

Fear In Troubling Times

1. Joshua 1:9
"Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.

It is always comforting to know in times of great fear God is right there by your side.

2. Philippians 4:6-7,
do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.

Sometimes you are fearful because you try to handle things yourselves. God is to bring Him every fear and concern and listen.

3. Psalm 23:3,
"Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.

God is always there to help you stand tall and walk through even the most fearful times in your life.


4. Psalm 34:4.
"I sought the LORD, and he answered me; he delivered me from all my fears."

Whenever you call on the Lord He is there to help you.

5. Psalm 94:19,
"
When my anxious thoughts multiply within me, Your consolations delight my soul."

When you feel God's presence in times of trouble it is such a relief to your heart.

6. John 14:27,
"Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid."

God gives you great peace if only looked to Him in times of great fear.

7. Lamentations 3:55-57,
"I called on your name, O Lord, from the depths of the pit; you heard my plea, “Do not close your ear to my cry for help!” You came near when I called on you; you said, “Do not fear!”

Prayer and calling on God give great solace in times of fear.

8. Deuteronomy 31:6,
"Be strong and courageous. Do not fear or be in dread of them, for it is the Lord your God who goes with you. He will not leave you or forsake you."

Even if you don't sense Him God is still walking along side you in times of great fear.

9. Ephesians 6:13
"Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm."

You have to wrap yourself in God's whole armor in order to stand tall in a fearful world.

Fear of Man

1. Proverbs 29:25,
The fear of man lays a snare, but whoever trusts in the Lord is safe.“

When we fear others it shows we haven’t put our total trust in God. Instead we should stand up for our faith.

2. Hebrews 13:6,
So we can confidently say, “The Lord is my helper; I will not fear; what can man do to me?”

Another verse which calls on followers of God not to worry about what men may say about them. once again when men seek to tear you down Look to God for your strength.

3. Colossians 3:23,
“Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men,“

Your energy needs to be devoted to doing God's work not trying to pleasing man.

4. Psalm 27:1,
"The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?"

Let the Lord guide your way and don't let others show you a false way.

5. Philippians 4:13
"I can do all things through him who strengthens me."

God gives us all the strength you need.

6. Psalm 118:8
"It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in man."

The Lord is the only true refuge in times of fear. Sure man can comfort you but only God can give you real peace.

Fear of Life

1. Hebrews 13:5-6,
Keep your life free from love of money, and be content with what you have, for he has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” So we can confidently say,

“The Lord is my helper;
I will not fear;
what can man do to me?”

Worrying about money brings about a lot fear in life. God says In Hebrews don’t worry about money but be content with what you have. He also reminds us once again he will never leave you But will always be there to help you.

2. Proverbs 3:5-6,
Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your“

God has great wisdom to give you if only you seek Him out.

3. Luke 12:25-26,
"And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life? If then you are not able to do as small a thing as that, why are you anxious about the rest?"

It is kind of obvious worrying will not make your life longer. In fact worrying all the time hurts the body and soul and wears it down.

4: 2 Timothy 1:7,
"For God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control."

Only God has the power to get us through everything which comes your way.

5. Psalm 118:8,
"It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in man."
