Bible Trivia: The Christmas Story

Author:

Lori Colbo loves to write about her Christian faith and the Bible to encourage and inspire others.

And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth (John 1:14).

How Well Do We Know the Christmas Story?

Many of us have been reading the Christmas story since we were small children. We've been in or to countless plays at church with children in their bathrobes playing shepherds watching their flocks by night, and Susan's baby doll playing the baby Jesus (it has to be a doll because it was supposed to be a silent night, right?). We've heard the classic sacred carols heralding the Savior's birth.

How well do you really know the Christmas story? Got it down pat? Let's start at the beginning with Mary's cousin Elizabeth and her priest husband Zacharias.

"Behold, I send My messenger, And he will prepare the way before Me."

— Malachai 3:1

Mary and Joseph

Mary and Joseph both experienced visitations from the angel Gabriel. I don't think we often consider the hardships they went through. Their situation of not being yet married and her conceiving a son was scandalous. We don't read much about the scorn they probably received. But no doubt it was there. And yet they were a most blessed couple.
