Becoming First Among the Equals on Earth #3

Over three decades ago I become interested in the Bible, having drank from the heavenly cup once, I have not been tired to drink more

In the second article I have started talking on “Thou hast made me wiser than mine enemies and have defined enemies and make some references to enemies. In this article I want to continue with the exegesis.

Looking Intently at What the Psalmist Says

We shall notice some of the followings from what this Psalmist says in this verse, Thou through thy commandments hast made me wiser than mine enemies: for they are ever with me. (Psa. 119:98)

1. Not Orchestrated by the Psalmist

From the content above we shall discover that the changes that happened to the Psalmist was not orchestrated by him. He has not in anyway influence the decision of God as we know that people do influence the decisions of those who are in authority today.

Thou through thy commandments hast made me….. (Psa. 119:98a)

He has been made by Yahweh he did not influence it, nor lobbied Yahweh to do anything for him.

2. The Psalmist Did

I will want us to see according to the contents of this verse what the Psalmist did.

(a) His Focus

We shall notice the focus of the Psalmist in the verse and his focus for a very long time has been the commandments of the Lord.

“… thy commandments are ever with me. (Psa. 119:98b)

Since he has been given the commandments of the Lord as they have been instructed in the laws of Moses that they should teach their children the commandments of the Lord, this commandments have been with him,

And ye shall teach them your children, speaking of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, when thou liest down, and when thou risest up. (Deut. 11:19)

He has neither turn to the right nor to the left since he has come of age and has learnt about the words of the commandments.

Ye shall observe to do therefore as the LORD your God hath commanded you: ye shall not turn aside to the right hand or to the left. (Deut. 5:32)

(b) Ensures Those Commandments Are With Him

After ensuring that he focused the commandments of the Lord like a goalie manning the goalpost focusing the football that players are being played or like soldiers focusing on their target so that they will not miss their targets, in the same wise has been this Psalmist, he has ensured that those commandments never leave him for a second, and he does this by keeping those commandments.

“… thy commandments are ever with me. (Psa. 119:98b)

(c) The Duration of Him Keeping the Commandments

We shall see the duration of him keeping the commandments of the Lord, and he says, “they are ever with” him. This invariably means the words of the commandments have eaten deep into his fabrics, bones, and marrows such that they have been integrated into his systems.

Those laws have been like blood being pumped out of the hearts of man carrying oxygen to all parts of the body, if the blood is not flowing, it means death, he has keep the law such that only death could take what he knows off him, for no other person can, not even angels neither prophets nor priests, no, no one can take the words off him not in this world physically nor in the spiritual realm when asleep and dreaming.

Believers also need to get to this position if we indeed want to enjoy God’s uncommon benefits and become first among the equals globally as this man has become.

I will continue in the next article.
