Cancer - Libra
Libra is Air and Cardinal. Cancer is Water and Cardinal. You see that Cardinality – Action and leadership is their immediate shared quality. Libra and Cancer share much, but also find much in opposition. How this challenge is addressed will have everything to do with whether this relationship has a positive transformative effect, or an overly difficult union of fighting features. They do share ruling planets – the Moon and Venus. Astrologically, there is secret harmony here. If there is a strong attraction, one that seems to overcome resistance, then that might be a sign that growth and harmony is possible. The inherent difficulty that these two could encounter, should have a groundwork of attraction from which to spring.
Libra and intellect go hand in hand. Libra is about putting an order to their world. Lawyers and judges bespeak the essential Libran way of acting and thinking. The Art of Love is held as a technical skill. The pleasantness of life is a challenge of organization and scale. Cancers are different. They see the world from an intensely personal prism. They have strength and imagination and a desire for growth and achievement, but they are centered in self involvement. This leads them into unfounded concerns and worries that loom. These two definitely contrast with each other, and in order to get along, they will have to sacrifice themselves in liberal and generous ways. This effort can help both of them be enriched and grow. Exhaustion with adaptation can be trying, but isn’t this the essence of what we are all called to do?
Positive Postulate: Venus and the Moon work together. The Libra seeks outer balance. The Moonchild seeks inner equilibrium. This positive outlook can be reinforcing for both. Sentimentality hovers over both of these signs. They can find feelings helpful and healing. Cancer must be understood in order to be really appreciated and loved. Libra’s challenge is to extend themselves into the Moonchild’s heart, beyond their way of orchestrating the “outside” of life. Cancer will respond warmly, if they feel understood.
Romance Recommendation: Harmony is highly possible for these two. Libra can be cold on the inside, but pleasantly, seeking balance. Libra’s fairness and sense of justice mean that Cancer can always find a “civilized” person to deal with their more indefinable and psychological issues. Cancer’s emotional needs will drive their need for a stronger union. There is a need for each to surrender to each other. Libra should realize that their physical extravagance can make Cancer uneasy, unsettling the sense of home security. Romantic harmony is a kind of barometer to how this match is working.
Conflict Quotient: Business is a strong factor with both the Libra and the Cancer. The business of life is how they both like to frame things. Libra will be impressed with Cancer’s intense involvement, but really strong emotional commitment. When the Crab is in conflict, they will most always view the conflict as a psychological and emotional threat. The threat that conflict presents is to their home, their personal security and their emotional health. Cancer cannot be dispassionate and disengaged about an argument. Libra’s lawyer-like ways can make them seem “above the fray”. The fact that they are not really above the fray is important. They need to get closer to Cancer to actually truly resolve their issues, not just dance a clever dance, and craft a great argument. It is at this key place – conflict resolution - where the true harmony of their love will be determined.
Peace Parlay: Life in the end is repetitive and mundane, and so is Romance itself. This factor asks the question: "Can we be bored together over the long term?" Active Cancer will transform boring moments. Beautiful Libra can be self-satisfied and slip into peaceful boredom; but this couple has so much to work on, that the longer they work together successfully, the less boring things would be.
Keep Up The Interest Graph: Cancer’s psychic and spiritual life can make them tend to lose direction at times. When they wake up to the need to spruce up and heal their heart, they are marvelous inventors of style and beauty in the home setting. Libra is always about fun and dressing up and throwing a party. The two of these together, working on harmony and happiness should actively and creatively try not to lose each other in the busy hustle and bustle of stress-filled schedules.
Seven Year Itchiness: There are some signs that by their nature are more stable in their love interests and family concerns as time goes on. Others are not. Since this is a challenging match, one would have to imagine that the 7 Year Itch could be a problem. Though Libra is very physical, they do not like to unnecessarily trouble their peace. Cancer and love and their emotional identity are all tied together. Infidelity is not impossible to conceive, but it would indicate real trouble.
ASTROCOMPATIBILITY POSSIBILITY RATING: 65% Positive Long Term - 60% Short Term. Libra and Cancer could definitely enjoy their first encounter. The long term viability is based on the challenging transformation that is possible in this intriguing and wonderfully positive potential. It depends upon the emotional and psychological investment that each are willing to pay. The level of attraction and desire would give an indication as to the karmic magnetism involved. Under my “transportation and transformation” motto, this union would take them to new places, and to new ways of being.

So I've been in a relationship w a libra for about 8 months now. We have our fair share of arguments (little to any really) we hangout everyday sex life is great our communication is good but I have to be careful w what I say bc she gets angry/triggered at things. also me being the cancer I'm very affectionate to her and have no fear in expressing my emotions as they are with her, but w her I feel she's very cold with me. Am I just over analyzing her??

??????? - It sounds like you are happy and therefore need not worry about how your relationship "fits" I won't get into the complexity of horoscopes, but if you want to, you could explore each moon sign and each rising sign (see article on Triads). No matter your signs if you have "everything in common" you should be happy.
If you "rarely argue" and neither of you is ignoring key complaints or deep seated issues that never come to the fore, then great. It sounds like things are "peachy". If you "don't enjoy your family life" than this might go to a more complicated problem or challenge. There are plenty of "harmonious" matches that still need work. I am sure yours will remain a relationship that will remain healthy and happy. Blessings.

I'm a Cancer, and my friend's a Libra. We have almost everything in common, and rarely argue. Also, I don't feel like a Cancer. I am not emotional, and I don't enjoy my family life.

My eldest son is cancer and very emotional, his brother is libra and happy go lucky, stubborn and outgoing. I'm thinking, if I raise the libra to be extra understanding, patient and tolerant towards his brother's moodiness they should be ok. I can see how my cancer child being the eldest especially, will be a great big brother, caring and loving as long as he feels understood. Now to make sure the eldest/cancer feels it's genuine on the part of his libra sibling so he doesn't feel offended...

Paula: A Libra is always looking for solid communication. With a Cancer the unexpressed has great import. Don't fear that, but take Libra care.
Paula on June 02, 2015:
I'm a libra and I've been saying a cancer for almost a year and although his communication falters sometimes, so far we're very happy. Not that it couldn't change.
Christofer French (author) from Denver on April 12, 2012:
Cancer is complex in its emotions and goals. They are often lost inside their own concerns. However, they are caring and emotional. Libra enjoys this drama and emotional interplay. So far it sounds like you are listening well. I would warn against being too demanding, but I don't think Libras are. Treat her in an even handed way and don't be arbitrary or remote.
Miriam on April 11, 2012:
I am a Cancer and one of my best friends is a Libra. Since this relationship has nothing to do with that sort of love, do you think we have a chance of keeping together as friends? Do you have any advices on how I should act around her or treat her? (We are both girls, and so far we seem to get along great)

Ok how about answering this. My sister in law and i don't get along that well, or at least i don't like her that much. I think she tries to hard and it gets me mad. I think she wants to be my friend but she is so self centered and i just cant stand her. Sometimes.
