A Hymn: Jesus Calls Us to Prayer

Singing and composing hymns and other songs have been part of my life since my teenage days

Composer's Foreword

I do not know how to put my composed words into tunic solfa format, but having leanrt however remotely how to compose songs using local Yoruba format, I decide to come with a work around on how to make my songs internationally acceptable, therefore, I have been mimicking some hymns which I believe anyone who knows how to sing such hymn globally would be able to sing along with me my composed song using the tune that I have used beneath.

The New Hymn

1. Ye ask and ye receive not

Because you even ask amiss

The things you even asked for

'Re to be used for worldly pleasure

2. Ye ask and ye receive not

Because your motives are bad

You ask just to satisfy

Even the lust of your eyes

3. Ye ask and ye receive not

Because you ask not in faith

It's those who asketh in faith

That their prayers 'll be answered

4. Ye ask and ye receive not

'Cause basis for asking is wrong

You ask 'cause of pride of life

Which is not the will of God

5. Ye ask and ye receive not

For you 've shut bowel of mercy

Even unto thy neighbour

Therefore your prayers are not heard.

6. Ye ask and ye receive not

Because thou stoppeth thy ears

To hear the cry of the poor

Therefore your cries are not heard

7. Ye ask and ye receive not

Because your hands are full of sin

And he hath said in His word

That he heareth not sinners

8. Ye ask and ye receive not

'Cause you 've failed to persevere

Those who persevere in pray'r

Will have whatsoever they desire

9. Jesus calls us to prayer

Apostles counsel to pray

Brethren gird your loin of prayer

And talk to your heavenly Father
