What are light workers?
Have you ever heard of light workers? Does someone you know identify themselves as a light worker? Are you curious about what the term light worker means?
If so, you have come to the right place. Light workers are part of the larger movement of holistic medicine and wellness.
While there is no universally agreed upon definition for this term, it is commonly agreed that light workers are individuals who have been placed on planet earth to raise the collective consciousness of humankind.
People who are light workers are empowered to spread joy, love, happiness and healing through their connections with others. While you are reading the information here, it is important that you wipe away any preconceived notions about what light workers are because much of what exists online about these special individuals is misleading and speculative.
Light workers are thought to be from a dimension that is not of our own consciousness. In other words, they arrived here from a place beyond our awareness and take human form. Some have suggested light workers are a kind of “divine angel”.
While this may be true, light workers do not belong to a specific religion or spiritual belief system. It should be noted however that light workers are spiritual.
In some light worker communities, there exists several lines of thinking to suggest that light workers have belonged to a number of religions over the course of many lives. Here, we are talking about reincarnation.
Light workers are considered to be spiritually enlightened. This means they have evolved to a different understanding of this moment in time in the universe on both physical and spiritual realms. Light workers are not “better” than or “superior” to others. It is better to think of them as simply different.
Where do light workers come from?
Many light workers believe they were chosen to spread their gifts before birth.
Others believe they were bestowed their special abilities after birth through a process known as an awakening.
And still others believe they are multi-dimensional beings and can channel their powers back and forth and then back again.
Each light worker has their own life story. Some are able to describe their genesis. Others are not. Part of their awareness of understanding happens through a kind of awakening, which should be considered as part of a life-long process.
Light Worker Powers
Currently, there exists no specific list of light workers powers that can be universalized to this group of individuals.
Some of the more common powers that some believe light workers possess include:
Healing Powers of Light Workers
Ability to sense the emotions of others
Ability to heal spiritual wounds
Ability to heal physical wounds
Ability to heal psychological traumas
Ability to heal animals
8 Characteristics of Light Workers
There are a number of characteristics that are considered to be typical of light workers. What follows are some of the more generally agreed upon characteristics. The information appearing here should not be considered exhaustive.
1. Grew up feeling isolated
Many light workers grew up feeling misunderstood, causing them to isolate from others and become reclusive. Many light workers report they did not “fit in” while growing up. During the formative years, light workers often report going through their childhood seeking approval, only to experience feelings of rejection. In short, others did not “get” who they were. Some were even labeled as “freaks” during their youth.
2. Have an overwhelming desire to help people
Light workers are drawn to helping others and possess and overwhelming sense to be with others in emotional, psychological, spiritual or physical pain. There is an indescribable magnetic force that attracts these individuals towards those who are hurting. This attraction is acted upon even though the person is need may be personally caustic.
3. Typically, light workers are employed in the helping professions
Because they have a strong need to help others, many are employed in fields that are connected to education and healing. Teachers, nurses, psychologists, counselors and medical providers are large areas of employment for these individuals. Animal healers are also a big area of employment for light workers.
4. Can repel negativity and darkness
Light workers have the unique ability to repel negativity and darkness. When in a light workers presence, many report feeling healing properties, an unexplainable lift in mood and an overwhelming sense of joy.
5. Have a strong connection to animals
For reasons not fully understood, light workers are drawn to all creatures of nature. On the flipside, animals are uniquely drawn to light workers in an uncanny way. There is a bond between the light worker and nature that defies logic and human understanding.
6. May possess empathic abilities
Light workers often hold some type of empathic abilities. Some of these abilities include being able to sense the emotions of others, sense global catastrophe and even dream about future events. Some light workers are able to sense the emotions of animals, particularly spirit animal guides.
7. Hold a unique understanding of spirituality
A good number of light workers believe they have been reincarnated many times. Some of these reincarnations come in the form of human life while others have taken the form of animal life. Through these incarnations, spiritual understanding and wisdom has been gained.
8. Require frequent periods alone time
Many light workers feel spiritually, physically and emotionally drained – in part because of their empathic abilities. Because they hold the unique ability to heal others, they can at times require time to themselves. This means closing off the world to the extent possible in order to meditate self-heal and restore.

Light workers should not be viewed as “freaks” or some type of new age off-shoot from the planet mumbo jumbo. Instead, they would prefer to be looked at as people who are spiritually enlightened. At their core, light workers are messengers of love, serenity, peace and harmony.
You will find lots of people who identify as light workers in the healing professions and many more involved with holistic medicine. Examples include Reiki, energy healers, holistic veterinarians, psychologists, counselors, yoga instructors and different forms of spiritual teachers.
A universal thread that binds most all light workers together is their overwhelming sense of kind-hardheartedness and sensitivity. Because these individuals are strongly empathic, they struggle with being in the presence of aggressive behavior or violence.
Many light workers are thought of as being “out there”, idealistic and even “dreamy”. This may be in part due to what light workers report as having a kind of multi-dimensional in existence. This would help to explain why so many of these individuals feel misunderstood.
You can usually identify a light worker because they emit a kind of light that connects to the human psyche and human spirit - speaking a kind of karmic truth. Some believe people such as Gandhi and Mother Theresa were light workers.
Finally, for reasons that are not fully understood, a fair number of light workers were born under the Zodiac water signs. These include: Scorpio, Cancer and Pisces. And it should be noted that there exists many light workers who fall under other zodiac signs however, it just seems that an uncanny number of these healers happen to be water signs.

Finding these writing helps to keep me grounded. I knew I was different since childhood. My mother thought I was a bit weird and my father has told me I am an empath and my teenage daughter agrees. You are absolutely right about many things. Right now I wake up with sadness daily because I can FEEL all the suffering this virus has caused. I have been sleeping way more than normal because I am exhausted. I read these writing on lightworkers because I dont want to feel alone. Stay safe and jralrhy everyone. We must all do our part for humanity.

I haven’t heard this term before, but I love it. “While this may be true, light workers do not belong to a specific religion or spiritual belief system. It should be noted however that light workers are spiritual.” I believe this about light workers…it makes perfect sense. I believe in their existence; I know at least two, so I am fortunate. :-) Beautiful hub!

Marc Hubs from United Kingdom on September 15, 2014:
I'm glad to have found this hub (thanks to Nadine May posting a link on Facebook). I have also read a hub about Plaeidian Starseeds recently but I think "light worker" is a more accurate term for myself. I help victims of psychological trauma from narcissistic abuse and I remember 'choosing' this life prior to being born for a variety of reasons. I was told I would be allowed to make a difference from a distance although I didn't realize what that meant at the time. Now I realize 'they' were referring to being sat behind a computer and utilizing the internet, rather than going out there in person which is the reason I was murdered in my past life. Sounds crazy I know but I remember it all so vividly now. I am one of those people who sees 11:11 everywhere and consider myself to be spiritually enlightened. I understand consciousness, mind and perception, I believe in universal consciousness after death and have telepathic abilities. I also have an overwhelming desire to disclose the truth about alien intelligence.

What a lovely hub on what is called a light worker. I personally have an overwhelming passion to heal everyone who I come in contact with off or online, but I never share it as such. Triggering ideas and thoughts is more my style and the rest I leave for others to digest. It's through story telling and article writing that I found my voice. Voted up. I will share this around.
