3 Haunted Schools in San Francisco Including Abraham Lincoln High

3-haunted-schools-in-san-francisco

San Francisco is a city that is said to be haunted byspirits. If you believe in that kind of thing then you might want to thinktwice about moving to San Francisco with your children. This isn’t just becausethere are supposed to be ghosts in old houses and historic hotels. It’s becausethere are several schools in the city where ghosts have been reported. Here’s alook at the stories about three different schools – one elementary school andtwo high schools – that have all been reported to have ghost activity at onetime or another. Do you believe the tales?

CCS ElementarySchool: Old Woman Returns To Her Youth

If you enter the halls of the San Francisco Bay Area’s CCSElementary School during the daylight hours you are likely to hear the excitedlaughter of children roaming throughout the building. Giggling in lines astheir teachers try to get them organized for lunch, reading aloud as part oftheir daily lesson plans and screaming in fun while playing games duringrecess, the children of CCS are like children at any other elementary school in the country, children without a care in the world.

Chinese Christian Schoolssays on its website that “our school cannot be understood just by reading – youhave to visit to sense the vitality, energy, and spirit of our schoolcommunity”. CCS certainly provides an interesting education for its students. Theyemphasize not only academics but a combination of Christian philosophy andChinese culture, creating a student body which is diverse and well-educated inboth the eastern and western worlds. But what they don’t advertise on theirwebsite is the fact that perhaps there is more than just the energy of creativeinstructors and excited children pulsating through the halls of CCS.

If you enter the halls of CCS Elementary School during thehours when class is not in session, the sounds you hear will not be the soundsof laughing youth, and the screams coming from the playground might be thoseflying out of your own throat as you make your way out of the haunted buildingas fast as you possibly can. This is because CCS Elementary School is said to be hauntedby the ghost of an elderly women was murdered in the building. It may be justan urban legend, but it is said that she was pushed down a staircase, where shelay in a heap until her murderer picked up her lifeless body and placed it in the dumpster out back.

It is not known why this woman chooses to remain in theplace of her untimely death. Perhaps she is still seeking justice for themurderers who were never caught or maybe she just isn’t quite sure how to moveon. But whatever the reason, she has stayed in the school. When the games of the children go quiet, you can hear her praying Hail Mary in the girls’bathroom located by the staircase.

Abraham Lincolnand Washington High Schools

High school can be a frightening place for many teenagers. Thetaunts, the teasing, the pressure of trying to do well enough to get in to agood college but still fit in to the social world which is ever-so-critical atthat stage of life … it can all be overwhelming. But there are more than justthe typical high school problems to be afraid of at both Abraham Lincoln HighSchool and Washington High School. Whereas most kids want to get out of highschool as quickly as possible, not all seem to be as eager to leave theseschools as rapidly as one would think. In fact, there seems to be more than onespirit lingering in the halls and walls of these two San Francisco educationalspots.

Abraham LincolnHigh School

The girls’ bathrooms seem to be where the spirits tend tolinger in this high school, indicating that there’s either a girl who doesn’twant to give up the best four years of her life or there’s a boy who is tryingto see more than he could when he attended the school. The spirits are said to be found inboth the bathroom located near the main office of the school as well as thebathroom located by the band room, although it is uncertain whether it is the same or different spirits lingering in these two locations.

The bathroom by the main office is relatively quiet. However,on more than one occasion, the first person to enter the bathroom in themorning will find that all of the toilet paper has been unraveled on to thefloor. It could be a case of vandalism, except that it has happened regularly, without any other signs of break-in or damage, and it has always happened atnight when no one could enter the locked building without being noticed.

The bathroom by the band room is not nearly so quiet. Thespirit there seems to want to communicate with people as they enter the room, although he or she is shy to do so, only lightly whispering “hello” on rareoccasions. Numerous girls have reported peeking underneath stall doors to checkif anyone is in the stall and seeing feet there, only to find that nobody isactually in the stall.

Washington HighSchool

In WashingtonHigh School, it is the boy’s bathroom which seems to be the spot wheresomeone simply can’t stand the thought of leaving. The male bathroom on thethird floor bustles with activity during the day, as kids stop in betweenclasses to take care of their private business. But at night, security staffand teachers who have had to stay late to grade papers have reported seeing afigure standing near one of the stalls in this bathroom. The figure is usuallyseen out of the corner of an eye and dissipates when the viewer tries to get agrasp on what is going on. No one knows who this spirit is.

I'm currently a Junior at Washington HS. I never knew that the 3rd floor boys' bathroom was haunted. I barely use the bathroom at school, because I've always had a feeling that I would be watched.

Should call on T.A.P.S. to investigate with their equipment. There is nothing 'scary' or 'creepy' about a ghostly spirit. They were people, just as we are, and they are still the same personality as when they were alive. They don't turn into murdering monsters after death.

Anyone who thinks so has been watching too many Hollywood horror movies.
