30 Vastu tips for Academic Success

Are you worried about your child’s academic performance? Is the child unable to do well in exams inspite of studying hard? Students put in lot of hard work for academic success and to get good marks in the examination but sometimes inspite of working very hard, they are not able to score well. The reason for the same is lack of focus and concentration. No matter whether your child is unable to focus or gets nervous after entering the examination hall; there are easy practices to overcome them. Vastu Shastra lays down some easy tips for students which enable them to perform well and even concentrate better. Here are some simple Vastu tips which you can put into practice to improve focus and concentration among students:

  1. North, North-East, East or West is the ideal direction for study room of children. These directions are auspicious for the child and makes them feel energetic and focused.
  2. The student should face East or North direction while he is studying.
  3. The door of the study room in North- East direction gives beneficial results.
  4. Study table should not be below the toilet or under a beam as it will cause an undue stress in the student.
  5. Pillars, sharp pointed edges of furniture, open shelves etc. should be avoided in the study room as they are considered as obstacles in concentration.
  6. There should be no reflection of books on the mirror at the time of study. This increases the pressure of studies on the kids. If there is a mirror in the study room then it should be covered at night.
  7. Study table should be away from the wall. An open space in front of the table encourages creativity and new ideas.
  8. Study table should be square or rectangular in shape. Study tables in other shapes create confusion and do not let the concentration to be stable. Corners of the table should not sharp edged.
  9. The position of the study table should be such that there should not be a door behind the student.
  10. Sunlight or natural light is a must while studying. The shadow of the child who is studying should not fall on the books.
  11. Soothing pictures or posters on the walls enhance the positivity and peace of mind. A picture of a galloping horse, a rising Sun, goddess of knowledge Saraswati or Lord Ganesha are recommended as they inspire the child to study. Puzzles, pictures of war or sad scenes etc. should never be used in this room.
  12. Study table should not be cluttered. It should be kept neat and organized.
  13. Shoes should never be placed under the study table.
  14. Bookshelves should not be placed on the sides or above the study table as they create stress in the child.
  15. Bright lights should be used in the study room but at the same time, they should not be harsh for the eyes.

16. There should be adequate amount of natural light & air in study room. If the room is dingy or dimly lit then it slows down the child’s education.

17. Students should use study lamp as it improves concentration on studies. It should be placed on the left side of the study table

18. Vibrant and joyful colors like pink, sky blue, yellow, orange, green etc should be used on the walls of study room. This will be keep the child in an upbeat mood and also helpful in enhancing the memory and concentration of the child. Avoid using black & other dark colors as they depress the child.

19. Wooden chair should be used for the study table.

20. A money plant in an earthen pot should be kept by the side of the study table.

21. The student should sleep with his head towards East or South. North direction should be avoided.

22. Use a green table cloth at the study table for better concentration.

23. Placing a Saraswati Yantra near child’s bedside or study table will improve positive energy in them.

24. The certificates or display trophies etc. bagged by the child should be displayed on the South wall.

25. Keeping globe on the study table is recommended. Education Tower can also be placed on the right side of the table.

26. One must not eat on the study table.

27. Stationary should be in ready to use condition. Pencils should be sharpened properly and pens should be in working condition so that flow of study isn't interrupted. Unwanted stationary like non-working pens or un-sharpened pencils etc. creates negative vibes.

28. Playing chants or soothing music in the study room helps the child to relax and rejuvenate.

29. Keeping fresh flowers in the room or on the study table gives positive energy.

30. Television should not be kept in the study room.

A very sensible approach Shaloo and I can remember studying in a very calm environment. Can you explain the significance of the wooden chair being used for the study table?. I love the idea of soothing music as I needed music in order to study. Another enlightening article which I thoroughly enjoyed.

Well we do not do so well here. And I just cannot fix come of these. But most we do. Is there a hue/tint of green that is good for the table? What can we do about using his IPad for study it is part of his curriculum but seems like a TV.
