In God's Presence
One of the greatest desires of a Christian should be to experience the presence and power of God. People's lives change when they spend time with God.
God's presence is not automatic, but it is available to every believer. However, there are prerequisites. When you do your part, God will do His part. Then a partnership develops.
After you confess that Jesus is Lord and He died for your sins and God raised Him from the dead, you become saved and part of the family. After that, you can enter into God's presence by doing certain other things.
1. Talk to God Through Prayer
Talking to God will put you in the right position to enter into His presence. As most people know, prayer is simply communicating with God. Therefore, you should talk to God on a daily basis. When you talk to God, remember it should be a two-way conversation. You talk to God, then you wait for Him to talk to you.
First Thessalonians 5:16 tells us to "pray without ceasing." That means you should make prayer a priority because amazing things happen when you pray. One of the first things is that you enter into God's presence.
2. Spend Time with God in Fellowship
Fellowship with God and you will feel his presence. To fellowship with God means spending time with him, talking to him, and loving him like you can love no other.
In order to enter into God's presence, you need to be intentional about spending quality time with God. Set aside a special time just to be with God without distractions and without interruptions.
Empty your mind and your thoughts of everything and everyone. Forget about yourself and concentrate only on God and His goodness. Nothing else matters.
3. Meet God through Your Bible Study
Another way to enter into God's presence is to read what God has said in His word. Read the Bible and meditate on what you have read.
According to 2 Timothy 2:15, "Study to show yourself approved unto God, a workman that needed not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth." You meet God's approval when you study and meditate on what He has said. You also grow through His word, and you are taught how to live a righteous life.
Second Peter 1:2 says, "Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord." In other words, you get to know who God is by reading His diary. The Bible is like no other book. It is the only book a person can read and the author is always present.
4. Praise God
Praise God even when you don't feel like it. When the praises go up, the blessings come down. One of those blessings is being in the presence of God.
Psalm 100:4 says, "Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, and into His courts with praise." We are to praise God for who he is and not just for what he does. Amazing things happen when we praise God without asking for a thing.
Praising God at any time of the day or night is good but early in the morning upon arising or at night just before going to bed are ideal times.
God inhabits the praises of his people, according to Psalm 22:3. One of the quickest ways for you to enter God’s presence is through praise.
We should praise God for who He is no matter what condition we are in. We should be ready to praise God when we have bills to pay but no money in the bank. We should be able to praise God for being our healer even when we are having a migraine headache. Praise your way into God's presence.
5. Worship God
The Bible tells us in John 4:24 that God is a spirit, and his worshipers must worship him in spirit and in truth. When you worship God, you let him know that you think he is worthy.
To worship God is to give him reverent devotion and allegiance. You worship God because you believe He is worthy.
You can worship God at all times and not just in church on Sundays. When people have a relationship with God, they will get into the habit of worshipping Him all the time. To reserve God for Sundays is doing God a disservice as well as limiting yourself from being in His presence.
6. Obey God
Samuel said in 1 Samuel 15:22 that "Obedience is better than sacrifice." That simply means that it is better to do what God has commanded than to have to ask forgiveness for not doing it.
God would not ask His people to do anything that his Son did not do when He was in His humanity on earth.
Obeying God means to do exactly what God has commanded; that is if you want to enter into His presence. Obey God without changing what He has said. Remember that partial obedience is disobedience. Delayed obedience is disobedience.
7. Be a Witness
When you evangelize and let others know about your experience with God, it helps you enter into God's presence.
God wants not only you to know about Him, but He wants you to tell others about Him. He is pleased when you let your light shine so others may see your good work but glorify Him, according to Matthew 5:16.
Other Things to Do
There are other things a person can do to enter into God's presence. He can live a lifestyle that is pleasing to God. He can love his neighbor as himself as well as loving his enemies.
To enter into God's presence, a person must be willing to live for God and die to self. He can also work in the Kingdom of God and set his affections on God.
