The Lgbtqia+ Glossary

Red is a genderfluid bisexual who has been a part of the LGBTQ community for a long time.

The LGBTQ community is a community encompassing so many different identities so it's understandable you would feel a little overwhelmed with all the terminology. Which is why I have put together this list of different identities I'll be talking about both gender and sexuality.

Sexuality

  • Lesbian: a woman attracted to other women
  • Gay: a man attracted to other men
  • Bisexual: a person who is attracted to both men and women
  • Pansexual: a person who is attracted to people regardless of gender
  • Omnisexual: a person who is attracted to all genders but has a preference
  • Polysexual: a person who is attracted to most but not all genders
  • Asexual: a person who does not experience sexual attraction
  • Aromatic: a person who does not experience romantic attraction
  • Abrosexual: a person whose sexuality changes over time
  • Queer: a person whose sexuality is not heterosexual
  • Heterosexual: attraction to the opposite gender
  • Allosexual: a person who experiences sexual attraction
  • Androsexual: attraction to a masculine presentation
  • Demisexual: a person who experiences sexual attraction only under certain circumstances
  • Gynesexual: a person who experiences attraction to feminine presentation
  • Pomosexual: a person who does not liable they're attraction
  • Skoliosexual: attraction to people who are non-binary or genderqueer

Genders

  • Agender: a person who does not experience gender
  • Aliagender: a gender identity that doesn't fit any current gender
  • Bigender: a person who identifies as two genders
  • Demiboy: a person who partially identifies as male
  • Demigirl:a person who partially identifies as femal
  • Demigender: a person who partially identifies as a certain gender eg demiboy, demigirl, demienby, demitrans
  • Genderfluid: a person whose gender identity changes over time
  • Genderqueer: a non-binary identity where a person's gender identity can't be categorised as male or female
  • Intersex: a person with sex characteristics that are both male and female
  • Non-binary: a gender identity that is exclusively male or female
  • Novigender: a gender that is so complex it can't be described
  • Polygender: a person who Identifies with multiple genders
  • Transgender: a person whose gender does not match the one they were born as

Other useful terms

  • Closeted: hiding your gender identity or sexual orientation
  • Coming out: telling someone your gender identity or sexual orientation
  • Homophobia: discrimination against someone because of they're sexual orientation
  • Transphobia: discrimination against someone because of they're gender identity or expression
  • Mtf: male to female
  • Ftm: female to male

To wrap it all up what you need to know is there are many labels and identities and they are all valid this is not a complete list due to the enormous number of ways people may choose to identify so if you want to find out more keep researching. Which sexualities have I missed?
