Each connection we make was planned. As humans were not mean’t to be alone, yet.
My heart is heavy as I write this. We encounter so many people as we go through life. As we age, many of those people come and go as the phases in our lives change, except for certain ones. In our minds we are able to filter out the toxic ones, but what about the good ones. The ones that remind us of ourselves, the ones that are real. There are not too many of that kind of people left with the corruptions in our today society. Our world has a way of warping and manipulating minds of those, and leading them down a dark path. Or is that the devil himself?
Yesterday, the devil did an act unforgivable. He took a light out of our world, one that was shining so brightly, filled with so much potential. He took a life – younger than myself. He took a friend away, a daughter away, a sister away. However, God knew exactly what was going to happen on that day. In times like these, I have so many questions, but I know they are all questions I will never find the answers to. I’ve never been one to let a lot of people in, see me for me. She was one I trusted, one I was happy to call my friend. As times grew older we became disconnected, we were both on our own journeys of spreading love and warmth throughout this dark world of ours. She had a laugh that could be carried out a mile long, a light that lit up any room she walked into. If I would have known the last time I would have seen her was a few months back at a Sunday morning service.. well I wouldn’t have let it be the last time. But that’s the thing in life, we don’t ever know when the last time will be the last time. We don’t know what’s waiting around the next corner, only God does. Right now, she’s in his arms – at peace. There are so many things I wish I could have said to her, but now it is too late. All I can do is send my prayers up and hope for God to deliver them to her and to her family. One thing God has planned, that I know of, is to let her light shine through all the ones she touched. To help us shine a little more light in this dark world. She may be gone, but her light shines on in all of us.
I don’t want to ever make this mistake again, being disconnected from the ones that truly see us for us. The ones we see ourselves in. Each connection we make was planned. As humans were not meant to be alone, yet, so many of us feel that way. We all get lost during our journey, take the wrong steps at times. We are all friends, all family. We are meant to help one another through the darkest times, but half the time we don’t even know whats going on in each other’s life but our own. You may not know that the closest person to you is feeling trapped, lost inside. You may not know when it’s the last day you’ll see your old friend from high school, your old friend from summer camp. We simply don’t know. But what I do know is we’re not meant to feel alone. Were not meant to go through this hurt, this pain alone.
I challenge you. I challenge you that the next time you’re with a friend, ask them how they are. And when I say ask them, don’t do it in a way expecting to get an “I’m doing fine, how are you?” response. Dig deep, make them open up even though it’s not always the easiest. See them. I challenge you to reconnect. Whether an old friend from grade school, an old friend from church, or even an old friend from a team you were on – reconnect. Life is too short, we never know when our day will come. We never know when their day will come. We live our lives so separately at times, closed off. I challenge you to open up, to be transparent. Let others see the pain you’re going through. When you show your true self, others will show theirs. Were not as alone as we think we are, all it takes is an extended hand. Someone on the other side is waiting for that hand, that love. Be the light in our dark world. All it takes is a small change to create a movement. All it takes is a small change to change not only our lives but the people around us as well. Let that light shine through you. I challenge you.

"I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things."
Essentially for those who believe, nothing happens unless (God) allows it to happen! Some calls are tough to swallow nonetheless.
"Boast not thyself of tomorrow; for thou knowest not what a day may bring forth."
Having said that you cannot save anyone from them self.
Life is a (personal) journey.
Oftentimes people (choose) to withdraw from others and be alone. They don't want to be "cheered up", "encouraged", or "saved".
All you can do is let them know you are available.
