Is Unrequited Love a Result of Karma?

Putting thoughts into words is one of my many talents. And now, you can read my mind.

This is probably going to be the most relatable article ever. I mean!! who hasn’t experienced unrequited love??

You may think it would be easy to tell if love is unrequited but it isn't always clear and can cause a lot of confusion and emotional turmoil.

Unrequited Love

Before I thought about writing this article, I thought to myself “you’re definitely going to expose yourself with this” but then, I know I’m not the only one who has experienced unrequited love, time and time again.

Let’s take a double back and discuss about unrequited love.

There are times when we have strong romantic feelings toward someone, only to find out that they do not feel the same way about us. That is called unrequited love—love that is not returned or rewarded. It is a one-sided experience that can leave us feeling pain, grief, and shame.

You may think it would be easy to tell if love is unrequited but it isn't always clear and can cause a lot of confusion and emotional turmoil.

I’ve had my fair share of unrequited love in my life, there have been times when I’d have such intense feelings and attraction for someone, only to discover that I’m the only one in that boat.

My first experience of unrequited love was when I was in kindergarten. There was this boy then, very cute with only one front teeth. His name was Osas, we did everything together then and I really liked him as far as my innocent mind could comprehend.

But this little boy didn’t like me!! And I found out in the most embarrassing way. So everyday, I will talk about him at home and everyone knew who he was, until one day, my mom came to pick me from school and she saw osas’ mother and they greeted. Osas’ mother then asked my mom if my name was “Yetunde” because osas was always talking about one “Yetunde” at home.

Firstly, my name isn’t “Yetunde” secondly, “Yetunde” was the name of my then, best friend. My little heart was broken, and worse my older siblings taunted me with it for a very long time.

That was the first of the many unrequited love I have experienced.

Then I thought of something, many people have fallen in love with me, without me reciprocating their feelings too. Is this karma getting back at me for not loving the one who loved me?

They are some things that just can’t be forced. And the sad part is that this applies to all of us.

Am I getting my own karma?

It’s impossible to love everyone who claims to love you. There are just people who you can’t just click with. They may have the perfect height, the perfect complexion and even the perfect pocket!! But they are not just perfect for you.

They are some things that just can’t be forced. And the sad part is that this applies to all of us. You can be the perfect candidate for that person you love, you might look at yourself and even start to doubt in your abilities, the exact same way you make the person who has an unrequited love for you feels. It is just an endless cycle of unrequited love!

Are we all getting our own karma?

Okay, let’s talk about karma

The theory of karma can be thought to be an extension to Newton's third law of action and reaction where every action of any kind including words, thoughts feelings, the totality of our existence, will eventually have a reaction, same type of energy coming back to the one that caused it.

The genesis of your unrequited love is you!

How to avoid unrequited love

With my many many experiences in this field, I have come up with three simple ways to avoid unrequited love, and these steps have worked wonders for me and I’m sure it will work wonders for you too!

Know your worth!!!

You should always remind yourself how amazing you are! Anyone should be happy to have you.

It’s cool if you your feelings aren’t returned, it doesn’t reduce your awesomeness. Just pick yourself up and move on! There are plenty fishes in the ocean waiting to be caught.

Improve yourself

Many people are the cause of their own problems. It’s true, you can’t be looking horrible and expect to attract your crush or someone you love.

Work on yourself, if it’s money you feel is lacking, make some, if it’s the intelligence, improve on your knowledge. Try as much as possible to be the spec of your crush or potential love.

And then when you’re much more upgraded, even your crush won’t be your spec anymore because mans has upgraded!

Don’t stalk!!

This is very important when trying to move on from an unrequited love.

Stalking will only make you a creep and wouldn’t help the healing process either.

Try to disassociate yourself from anything that will reminds you of him/her. Remember that your feelings matter too!

Is it?

I once read about how love is a joint experience between two persons.. But the fact that it is a joint experience does not mean that it is a similar experience to the two people involved, since there is the lover and the beloved.. So the cycle of unrequited love goes on and on till the day we're really lucky and both parties involved feel the same.

"who hasn’t experienced unrequited love??"

Everyone has been rejected, feared rejection, been used, or betrayed. By the same token most people have also rejected other people or "friend zoned" people (they) were not romantically interested in. "Is unrequited love truly karma?" - NO!

Nobody gets everything/everyone they want! That's life!

Karma is a (man made ideology) to account for or explain results whether they be good or bad.

The reality is no matter who you are or what you have done (you're going to have some great days and some crappy days)!

It's a waste of time trying to attribute an outcome on something you did or said several years ago.

Actions may have consequences but it has nothing to do with "karma". Once again no one gets to have it all! That's life!

In a world with over 7 Billion people rejection just means: Next!

Thumbs up!... I pray we all get happy in the end; cos that's all that matters.

I don’t think it’s as a result of karma really but maybe in some cases. You can’t love everyone that loves you it’s just life to me. What goes around comes around.

Good article babes! I wouldn't totally agree with you though.

Unrequited love is not due to karma, we all are wired differently and cannot love all who love us..

Wouldn't say much 'cause i respect your opinion!

Keep it up dear

Unrequited love is a result of our actions not karma

Well, Karma, they say hunts us when we never expect. We've always and will always have someone who loves us but we don't love back.

It's not karma, it's just us being unable to properly evaluate who we're falling in love with and as such groom any feeling we get into love. I've figured, the more you enjoy your own company and self love, you wouldn't just grow feelings into love so quickly but will take time to ensure the other person also feels what we feel before considering.

Sometimes, we see the signs but choose to ignore because we always say LOVE CONQUERS ALL.
