A Woman, A Rose

A woman, a rose

A woman, a rose

Proverbs 18:22 says: "He who finds a wife finds a good thing and obtains favor from the Lord" and in Genesis 2:24 "Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh." We the women are very important in this world. Psalm 139:13 says: "You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body and knit me together in my mother's womb." There are many interesting quotes comparing women with something, check these one out:

John Gray "Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus."

William Scott Downey "Women's eyes have pierced more hearts than ever did the bullets of war."

From all the comparisons made of women, the one I identified best is with the rose. Poems, rhymes, verses and stanzas have been written comparing a woman and a rose. Antonine de Saint Exupery is the author of “The little Prince.” One of the characters is a rose; a coquettish flower which shows a melodramatic, proud nature that consequently drives the little prince away. Through the story, the rose occupies his thoughts and heart. The rose had told him that she was the only one of her kind in all the universe. And he found a garden full of them. One of the lines in "The Little Prince" that made me meditate is: "If a sheep eats bushes does it eat flowers too? A sheep eats whatever it finds even a flower with thorn? Even a flower with thorns. Then what's the good of thorns?"

Roses are similar in the category of flowers and different by their characteristics just as women. I will show you my comparison of “A Woman, A Rose” with the elements of:

  • Reproduction
  • Growth
  • Colors
  • Smell
  • Thorns.

The beauty of a woman

A Woman A Rose

Do you want to see the beautiful rose grow within a woman? All it takes are few steps with tender loving care; have her healthy, give her time and be patient. Talk to her; she will let you know her needs.

Many of us women have a wild type like a rose and perhaps when the rose you want to see is not the flower in us. It is time to seek what is bothering. Suckers from the understocked coming up within our heart needs to be taken out; deep digging and help many times is needed because the past leaves traces. We should rest in the Lord. The stress of life shouldn't take away the rose in us.

The color in a rose is defined, also the soul of a woman. Roses have a way to gain their colors just like us . The same way roses design a garden, we women make special designs in the gardens of the world.

If specific chemicals (odors) release particular smells giving fragrance which defines us from others... like the many flowers created; we are special roses with no need of trying to get the best perfume at the market.

Delicate and fragile with thorns, a rose will please your appetite of beauty as a woman enchants with her God created characteristics. Women have a self defense mode that sooner or later activates leasing her from oppression, harassment, violation and slavery.

Natural characteristics

The secret of a woman, a rose.

At the beginning I wrote that we women are important in this world, but in 1 Corinthians 11:11-12 says "In the Lord, however, woman is not independent of man, nor man independent of woman. For as woman came from man, so also man is born of woman. But everything comes from God ."

God is love and he tells us in1 Peter 3:3-4 "Don't be concerned about the outward beauty that depends on fancy hairstyles, expensive jewelry, or beautiful clothes. You should be known for the beauty that comes from within, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is so precious to God ."

I need to share this last verse in Ephesians 5:25 which means so much and ought to help many divorces, violence and destructive ways: "Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself up for her ,"

The video below is a very nice part of "The Little Prince " if you like to read, you will find the words in: Chapter 7 of the book. It shows a deep secret like the Little Prince's rose, the importances of being concerned of our natural characteristics, and keeping us woman out of danger.

Blessings to all!

I was fascinated from begini9ng to end. How true it is that we are like a rose. Some of us have more sweetness than others while some have sharper thorns. But we are still uncrushable. Up and awesome.

Kathryn, as I read in your profile you are one of the women to be honored. Being a women in this society is a big challenge. Our dignity by no means can not be crushed...I love being a woman because I am a rose, with thorns. Thanks, for your comment.

Kathryn L Hill from LA on January 01, 2012:

We are right brained and that's why men, who are left brained, need us, and vice versa.

Also we learn to balance our natures through each other. But after all these years of being told to resist the feminine side of ourselves, its nice to be encouraged to embrace it, now and again.

Thanks, Froggy213, I hope every woman does what they have to do in behalf of their blossoming, even when others try to let them fade.
