5 Types of Single Men to Date

Heads Up Ladies!

There are multiple types of men, I've selected five personality traits that I most often encounter. I have always been intrigued by the way men think. Who hasn't?

I did label these men as single, but married men also possess these traits.

Why? Because as a woman I didn't think I could ever possibly think like a man, but alas I think I might have partially conquered that task.

How? By socializing with men and picking their brains apart. One layer at a time. That sounds a bit gross, but you get my point. By digging and delving into the male psyche I've discovered more than I imagined!

Outcome? I am now able to think like a man! Kinda. I'm not ready to toss out my mascara yet.

Most men are ready and willing to talk and share tidbits of their life journey with me. Hence, I have come up with 5 personality traits that I find most interesting.

Needy - Clingy

Just like women have a tendency to be needy and clingy, men could be too. Except for most men the neediness is due to the fact that they were possibly smothered by their mother. Smothered with love, not a pillow.

On the flip side possibly their mothers didn't give them enough loving so they crave it as adults. Either way needy men could be a drag unless that's what you are into.

Needy men could function without a woman, but prefer to be catered to. Rarely do they reciprocate because they are already contemplating how to further manipulate you to tend to their needs.

They like to cuddle. A lot! Hug. Touching. Holding hands. Often! For a woman who likes her space a clingy man isn't for her.

Self-sufficient men are a treasure. They are capable of preparing their own meals. They could clean a home. They could even operate a washer and dryer. They do not need a woman to function.

Self-sufficient men could hold down a job. They aren't constantly getting fired and hired due to their inability to perform their duties. They are punctual, detail orientated, efficient and dedicated.

These men don't need a constant companion. They are comfortable to dine alone and know how to entertain themselves. They don't thrive on flattery because they are very confident with themselves while not being arrogant.

They aren't looking for a relationship, which makes these men fun to hang out with. Self-sufficient men know that if and when the time is right a relationship may develop and they are patient enough to wait.

I salute these men!

Control Freaks

No matter the situation, controlling men need to have the upper hand. They are very sly, similar to snakes, but to those with common sense these men are transparent.

Control freaks surround themselves with an entourage of followers who believe in them or fear them. Until that dreadful moment when their true colors are revealed and the followers begin to dwindle. It's at this point that the control freak lassos replacements because a controlling person could never change their ways.

It takes a strong woman to handle these type of men.

Controlling men are frowned upon. They give the good guys a bad rap, but luckily the good guys outweigh control freaks.

Be a leader, not a follower. But know how to properly lead. A good leader doesn't tell you what to do, they show you what to do.

These type of men make every conversation all about them. The conversations continue to revolve about their lifestyle, what's new with them or what's old with them. They love having an audience surrounding them who will indulge on their every word.

Braggarts are boring. They are shallow. They consider women their trophies, just another possession to brag about.

These type of men need a reality check. No one really wants to hear all about them, they just somehow know how to trap a audience.

Who really likes a one sided conversation? I certainly don't.

Stubborn men refuse to budge. They firmly believe that what they say is fact and they could never be wrong. They will argue their point until they are red in the face and have steam coming out of their ears. They will stand their ground even if they realize midway through the argument that they are wrong!

Stubborn men don't like to be told what to do or how to do it since they already know everything! You could offer advice but chances are they already knew that advice, even though they didn't.

Stubborn men are cocky, arrogant and have a tendency to be rude. They make demands and expect you to deliver in record time. These type of men rarely change their ways so if you decide to date one you are one heck of a woman!

Chances are these men probably voted for Trump.

There is Hope!

As I mentioned these are only 5 types of single men that you have the potential to date. There are many available guys on this planet who could possibly be your other half.

Do not give up hope! Just take it slow and have patience. Read between the lines. Look for any signs that could be forewarning you of damaging personality traits.

Men are cool cats. The majority of my friends are male, while I wouldn't want to date them, I treasure our friendships.

Interesting and enjoyable read!

Great article! I have to agree with your 5 types. I am much better at this stage of life separating the wheat from the chaff. Slow and steady wins the race!

DDE on June 29, 2018:

Self-sufficient the best! Mine is just that.

Almost forgot: "Nice guys"

These are the guys who are put in a woman's "Friend Zone"! Every woman has gone out with a "nice guy" at least once.

Theoretically he has all the traits she wants in a guy but there's no chemistry or real physical attraction. His "niceness" is also boring.

It comes down to if you're looking for Mr. Right or Mr. Right Now!

If a woman is primarily dating for the fun of she's likely to put up with all 5 types. However if she wants to "settle down" she's likely to reexamine her mate selection/screening process and must haves list. Unfortunately this usually takes place after heartaches.

I believe there are periods for both women and men where they're not looking to get married. They just want to go out and have a good time! Clingy for this type of person may be anyone who wants to be in an exclusive relationship!

I would probably add "players" and "bad boys" to the list of men women are likely to encounter in the dating scene.

A lot of women are drawn towards guys they see as being a {challenge}. Some women love guys they have to "figure out".

Interesting! I think mine is self-sufficient. He's quite happy for me to be away and doesn't want tons of ready-made meals in the fridge; in fact, he does the cooking more often than I do! He's great and a superb friend too.

I know a few control freaks, some of whom have ruined the lives of dear friends. Not nice at all. I have a neighbour who's a braggart; fortunately he and his wife are moving!

Amusing and informative. I bet you had fun getting all this information!

Whew! I have a self-sufficient one.
