The Holy Hustle

Here’s a fantasy! How can we eliminate the National Debt without raising taxes on all of us taxed to death citizens, especially the working middle class that is always doing their unfair share of supporting this Nation of ours? It would take something out of the ordinary with a bold stroke of genius to come up with the answer to that, right? Bold stroke yes, genius no! There has to be a gazillion folks who have already thought of this and the issue, I’m sure, has cropped up from time to time, but it looks to me that nothing has been done. Well, I’m here today to make an age-old proposal, once again, to get this issue up and running. We tax Religion and Churches! Think about it! Religion is just another big business conglomerate like Professional Sports. I remember George Carlin sometime back in the last century in one of his routines when he figured our Nation’s Debt could be settled by taxing the real estate of the Catholic Church alone. Now the first thing that crops up when this subject comes up is that nonprofits are not taxed. See, that’s a misnomer, religion can only operate on a profit, “no profit, no church” as I have seen the Catholic Religion scuttle churches on account of not being economically feasible. The wealthiest religious organization in the country is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints with a value of 265 billion dollars. Think of it, what better good can religion do for this country than by contributing their fair share in helping this Nation of ours become economically sound and lead the world in its newly found prosperity and help spread the wealth! After all, a wealthy religion is a healthy religion!
Here’s the reality! Religion is not considered big business, they are merely power brokers and there is no way to settle the National Debt as it is in the Trillions. When I say religion, I mean all of the roughly 4,200 religions, churches, denominations, religious bodies, faith groups, tribes, cultures, movements, or ultimate concerns. I look at the whole picture, not just your basic everyday Christianity unlike those nutjobs in Texas and Oklahoma who are trying to infiltrate bible lessons and The Ten Commandments into public schools. As far as I am concerned, religion is the biggest business on the planet and if it were taxed the same as those humongous corporations, we and the government would be better off. Plus, there would be no better time for religion to apply for an LLC as they would become the most powerful business organization in the world and with Trump and his Wacko Warrior authoritarian dictatorships coming into power, he would only be too happy to grant huge tax breaks like he has promised to all the upper class of elitism. He has even come up with the biggest con job yet in creating the fictitious DOGE (Department Of Government Efficiency) and put two twin turds in charge, Vivek Ramaswamy and Elon Musk. He just goes ahead and blatantly bypasses the mandatory Act of Congress and establishes his own fake front with 2 fake figureheads to come up with fake facts.
So, where does that leave us run of the mill Joe Schmoes in this equation? In its usual place, on the outside looking in. We are still going to struggle to pay rent, mortgage and taxes, plus an increase in consumer goods when the hike in tariffs takes effect. It seems that, the hurrier we go, the behinder we get.” The only catch-up I have ever accomplished is what I put on my hot dog, along with mustard, pickles. relish and cheese! Stay tuned…..!
