Update on the Russian-Ukrainian War, Saturday, 28th May
Updates from the Russia-Ukraine War, 28th May, 2022.
What is going on between Russia and Ukraine so far? Putin's invasion of Ukraine has not gone exactly as planned, what was expected to be a short, easy war for Russia turned into a disaster. Entering from Kyiv Oblast has not worked, Chernihiv, Sumy and Kharkiv operations all failed. Putin withdrew all forces from Kyiv, Chernihiv, and Sumy regions on April 5th-13th. President Putin had begun rerouting his soldiers to the Eastern front of Ukraine-The Donbass region.
The Eastern axis of the war has not been in anyone's exact favor, but Russia has advanced to the town of Lyman, seized all of Popasna, however Ukraine has liberated the town of Marinka, advanced into the Northern Kharkiv region and secured the Kharkivska-Russian border, which was originally occupied in the beginning of the war. Russian troops today retreated from the Novopil and Novodarivka villages to other villages near it.
According to the Ukrainian General Staff, the directions of Zaporizhzhia and Novopavlivske, Russian forces shelled the towns of: Vremivka, Poltavka, Chervone, Huliapole, Orikhiv and Olhivske. According to the Russian media, In Svatove, town in the Luhansk oblast, 3 people were killed by a Tochka missile strike. The article did not state which side was responsible for the missile strike, however because it is Russian media afterall, they would claim Ukraine is responsible for the missile attack that killed the 3 people. Stated by Ukrainian general staff, In Belarus, Russian forces deployed additional Iskander-M division at the Luninets area. Russian military also bombed the towns of Sviyatohirsk, Bohorodychne, Karnaukhivka, and Virnopillia with artillery, as airstrikes were conducted near Dovhenke, Ozerne and Dibrova were bombarded by Russian MLRS, mortars and airstrikes. At the Bakhmut direction, Russian forces conducted assault and offensive actions near Nahirhne, Vasylivka, Komushuvakha and Virodzhennia, according to the General staff of Ukraine. Russian forces assaulted territories near Sieverodonetsk, Oskolonivka, Toshkivka, according to a briefing by Ukrainian general staff in the morning.
Russian troops had attempted an offensive near Pasika village, but to no proper result. Multiple villages in Northern Kharkiv region were bombed by the Russian army. Ukrainian forces have conducted multiple attacks on the Eastern front against Russian military. Many Tanks, BMP's, and general soldiers had fallen victim of Ukrainian gunfire and bombs, as the death toll and casualties of Russian soldiers and equipment is constantly rising.
According the Ukrainian General Staff, the death toll of Russian soldiers has reached a staggering 30,000 men. Russia's equipment losses have also risen: 1,330 tanks, 3,258 armored personnel vehicles, 628 total artillery, 203 of which are MLRS. 93 Anti Aircraft warfare systems, 207 aircraft, 503 operational UAV's/drones, 116 cruise missiles were shot down, 2,226 vehicles & fuel tanks. 13 Warships/boats and 38 special equipment.
Back in Belarus, Belarusian border guards restrict access to border districts in the Homiel region, the protocol is starting from the first of June until the end of summer.
Regions of Cherkasy Dnipropetrovsk, Novomykhailivka, Ternova, Prudyanka, Ruski Tyshky, Kutuzivka, Varvarivka, Petrivka, Mykolaivka, and Korobochkino have seen heavy bombing.
Down in the Southern front of Kherson, Russia has been targeting civilian infrastructure with shells in the towns of Oskolonivka, Novovorontsovka, Blahodatne, Zorya, and Tavriyske.
In order to defend themselves, President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, has requested European Union and USA for more and more weapons; such as artillery weapons, guns, ammunition, jets, helicopters, missile systems, anti aircraft, and the list goes on. Ukrainian usage of American switchblade-300 kamikaze drones has been displayed on telegram channels, showing that Western weapons against Russia are effective and fully working. MANPADS, NLAWS and Stugna's have also been a popular symbol resistance against Russia in the 21st century, mostly in Ukraine. MANPADS have been hard at working, making the lives of Russian aircrafts hell, as NLAWS and Stugna's have been responsible for the losses of Russian vehicles.
This war does not seem like Putin's/Russia's victory in the long term, as Russia is unretiring old soviet era tanks to fight in Ukraine, Worldwide sanctions have also crippled Russia's economy despite the Russian Ruble regaining worth at an time high, it doesn't look good for Russia in other aspects of economy, as it is very limited to international trade with only 3 major partners, such as Syria, Iran and Belarus. Soon enough, Russia will either pull out their forces from Ukraine, or just suffer slowly in the borders of Ukraine.
