America supreme court, and the protesters
My world news diary June 2022.
Welcome to our article, (125) World news diary June 2022.
In this article we will be talking about, the American Gun law, the supreme court ruling on abortion, inflation in America and Australia, the Ukraine war.
Dear readers, today we must ask ourselves what is happening in the world, because to me it seems that we are going backward, we seem to go back to the dark ages. You see, the leading countries in the world are having problems of their own; look at the USA, and RUSSIA, they seem to do their best to upset each other and their citizens.
Views of America
In America people are restless because they cannot find common ground between different groups, the division is so much that some people say that America is heading to civil war soon, so, let us see what is happening.
A large group of rioters was seen in downtown Portland, Oregon smashing windows and vandalizing several buildings Saturday night. The group also graffitied several messages targeting the U.S. Supreme Court.
After that mass shooting that has happened in May 2022, I believe that the entire world is waiting to see if the Americans have finally decided to do something about their gun laws. Anyhow, I believe that again if they do anything, it will be too little and too late, but at least this time they are trying, and this is what I found on the internet.
(And I quote).
The United States House passed a sweeping gun bill that would raise the minimum age to purchase an assault rifle to 21 from 18, US media reported Wednesday night. It faces long odds in the Senate.
Five Republicans supported the measure, while two Democrats opposed it.
The bill, called the Protecting Our Kids Act, would also prohibit the sale of large-capacity magazines and institute new rules that require proper at-home gun storage, according to reports.
End of quote.
So, my view is that the Americans are not getting anywhere with their gun laws, So, I wonder when they are going to do something that at least bans the firearms of mass shooting. I believe that assault rifles should be used only from the solders during wars. The American people are not at war within America, so, it does not make sense to have them. I hope that the Americans will start to see that, and to believe that if there are less weapons of mass shooting, there will be less mass shooting.
Anyhow, today looks like that they are not talking much about the gun laws, and the are talking about other problems, like the inflation. So, it will end up by not doing enough about the gun laws.
Anti abortion protesters are also a lot in USA
The other American problem today, is inflation
The other American problem today, is inflation
But inflation does not apply to America only, because most other nations have the same problem, but let me quote what I found on the internet first, then we will talk about what is happening in Australia, and other parts of the world.
(Quotes that I found on the internet)
The white-hot job market is fuelling rapid wage growth for millions of Americans, but the worst inflation in four decades is quickly eroding those gains.
The Labour Department reported Friday that average hourly earnings for all employees actually declined 3% in May from the same month a year ago when factoring in the impact of rising consumer prices.
On a monthly basis, average hourly earnings dropped 0.6% last month, when accounting for the inflation spike.
By that measure, the typical U.S. worker is actually worse off today than a year ago, even though nominal wages are rising at the fastest pace in years.
That's because consumers are confronting the highest inflation in a generation, which has quickly diminished their purchasing power.
"Even though wages are growing rapidly, inflation is growing much faster, so workers are actually losing ground," said Dan North, senior economist at trade credit insurer Allianz Trade North America. "They are effectively getting a pay cut, and that could surely put a drag on the economy."
Businesses are eager to hire new employees and are raising wages in order to attract workers as they confront a labor shortage. There were roughly 11.4 million open jobs at the end of April — near a record high — while the number of Americans quitting their jobs has also climbed to a new high. (End of quotes).
So, today America has at least three big problems. The first one is mass murder, the courts over there seem to be powerless to tell the people that they do not need firearms to protect themselves, if everybody has no firearms, then less mass murder will happen, it is only logic.
The second problem is that the courts, by changing the laws about abortion, they seem to have opened Pandora box and all the problems will come up now.
The third problem is that the American think that they are the best at everything, when they are just like everybody else. They want to tell the world what to do, when sometimes they do not know themselves what they are doing, I hope that they become aware of what needs to be done, and fix their own problems.
The new government in Canberra parliament.
The Australian new government views
Now let us talk about the views of the new Australian government. This new government wants us to believe that they will be better than the previous government, but I do not believe them. You see, there are always problems to run a country, and Australia has its own problems.
Anyhow, we have written above about the USA inflation. But they are not alone facing the inflation problem. You see, I believe that most of the world is, or could be in the same position, because the COVID19 pandemic stopped the people working and producing, so, these are the consequences that follow, and this will continue until some balance is restored.
Now let us look at what is happening in Australia. In Australia most people are talking about housing accommodation, the main worry here is that people that have borrowed too much to buy their house, could be in danger of losing it, if the interest rate continue to go up, also the price of the houses could go down and put more strain on the economy, one way or another.
We also have a new government in Australia, so, we are looking in what direction this new Labour Government is taking us, but we must wait and see, even though we know that they are driven from the workers unions.
Also, in Australia people are restless, there are several groups protesting for different reasons, some protest about climatic changes, some about the abortion laws, they fear that what America has done can come to Australia also, and many other things, there are even some protests about Aborigines rights, which is hard to understand how far back they want to take us. To me this is a bit strange because I believe that the world belongs to everybody. Yes, the aborigines were here first, but that does not mean that Australia is theirs forever. As I have said, the world belongs to everybody, it is easier if we think that way.
Kyiv is being destroyed by this Russian war
My views of the world and this Russian war.
Let me say what I think about wars. When the second WW ended, most of the world were looking for leadership from Russia and America, hoping they they would lead the world in peaceful way. But it did not happen that way, both Russia and America are rich nations, so, they could do better than what they are doing now.
Anyhow, today while America seems to have lost its power to do anything good, Russia is even worst. They are going back in time and they want to dominate other people, when the reality is that the world belongs to everybody, and people have their own idea, how they want to live, so, wars are useless, because they want to impose the will of other people how other people have to live. I believe that a day will come when everything will be decided by voting, in a democratic way, then all the wars will become useless.
Anyhow, Russia is a rich nation that could improve the conditions of the world, but they chose to make war instead, so, instead of improvement, there and are the consequences of wars. So, let us look at what is happening now.
The war in Ukraine (QUOTE)
Since Russia rolled into their country Ukrainians have fought for their cities to the last breath, part of a strategy that has forced Russia to rein in its ambitions.
When Russia invaded in February, Western powers feared an onslaught that would see Ukrainian forces crumble within days, but Kyiv has dashed Russian hopes for a quick win.
Crucial to that success has been Ukraine's determination to struggle to the bitter end, epitomised by the weeks-long resistance first in the southeastern city of Mariupol, and now in Severodonetsk.
"The strategy has been -- overall -- very effective," Ivan Klyszcz, a researcher at Estonia's University of Tartu, told AFP, crediting it with forcing Russia to leave the north after failing to seize Kyiv.
The current stalemate on the eastern front is also the result of Ukraine's ferocious defence of its cities, Klyszcz added.
"Every time Russian troops were slowed down in a city, it stopped them from having a dynamic, from gaining territory or from quickly seizing a city," a French military source who asked not to be named told AFP. (End of quote).
Anyhow, I cannot see what Russia will gain by winning this war, since Russia itself is a very large country, why control a bit more territory, when it is costing so many people their lives, it is a mad war. They should understand that the world belongs to everybody, it is easier to think like that. There are other things that we could say, but this article is already long enough. See you next time in a couple of months. .
