Blacks Are The Problem”: Why Are More Blacks In Prison Than Whites?

Some people may be wondering about the title of the hub or interpret it to mean something that they will probably agree with, but that may not turn out to be the case.

The first part of the title of this hub, is a quote from H.R. Haldeman, the former chief of staff of President Richard “tricky dick” Nixon. So people who think that racist attitudes toward blacks, isn’t ingrained in those at highest levels of government, or that racism is a figment of black people’s imagination, as the 1960s, sitcom character, “Gomer Pyle” use to say, are in for a “surprise, surprise, surprise!

The following is a quote from "The Haldeman Diaries,” published by G. P. Putnam's Sons, and are taken from recordings and Haldeman's daily diary entries.

Haldeman, refers to President Nixon as " P, and states that: "P emphasized that you have to face the fact that the whole problem is really the blacks. The key is to devise a system that recognizes this while not appearing to. He pointed out that there has never in history been an adequate black nation, and they are the only race of which this is true. Said Africa is hopeless. The worst there is, is Liberia, which we built."

And if that’s not convincing enough about racist attitudes of Nixon and his cronies, there is this statement from Nixon’s other “right hand man”, John Ehrlichman, making it even clearer, that they are conspiring to illegally, criminalize, arrest, and incarcerate young black men, out of proportion to their white counterparts. He’s quoted as saying,

"Look, we understood we couldn't make it illegal to be young or poor or black in the United States, but we could criminalize their common pleasure. We understood that drugs were not the health problem we were making them out to be, but it was such a perfect issue...that we couldn't resist it." – (John Ehrlichman, White House counsel to President Nixon on the rationale of the War on Drugs). See more at:

So you see, here we have a plot, a conspiracy, by the president of the United States and his henchmen, to illegally target young black males, using the criminalization of drugs as a cover to do so. These actions were also said to be part of Nixon and his co-conspirators “Southern Strategy”. They “knew” that blacks wouldn’t vote for Nixon, so they devised a strategy that would pit poor southern whites against blacks, that would make it seem that blacks were receiving all or most of benefits from civil rights laws, and that the poor southern whites, were being “left out in the cold”.

This approach was similar to, how the rich white capitalists slave/plantation owners, were able to get the poor “white trash” who they “looked down on”, to fight in the “Civil War” to help protect their lucrative investments in the slave trade/market. They accomplished this by making the poor lower class whites, think they were fighting to protect their “states’ rights” against the federal government, whose aim was to make slavery illegal in the Unites States. So the “states’ rights” slogan was bandied about, to get poor southern whites to fight, just as “free the Iraqi people” was bandied about, to get people to risks their live to protect the rich oil investors plans to profit from the second largest oil field in the world, located in Iraq…but I digress!

So when some white people point out, that there are more black men in prison than white men, now you know why. It’s not because black men are more violent etc, etc, etc, but because there was and is, an illegal conspiracy to arrest and convict black men, to create the public perception, that they are more violent and commit more crimes than white men, so they deserve to be locked-up!

And if you want more data or “proof” to back up what I’m saying. Please view the video at the end of this hub, a fantastic, informative presentation, by an outstanding women and speaker, “Michelle Alexander—author of The New Jim Crow”. Or you can use this link to view it, and or, or both. Some people will be glad they did and others may be sad they did.

I’m not necessarily, presenting this information to anger or offend anyone, but to, hopefully, shake those people awake, who think that all racist attitudes and racist behaviors toward black people are in the past. Those who especially need to be awakened, are those who think that, because we’ve had a “Black” president, that we now, magically, live in a post racial society! They think that all racist attitudes and plots against blacks have magically disappeared. There are certain classes of “black” people, who are under this illusion as well, as this “New Jim Crow” video will show.

James A Watkins from Chicago on August 13, 2019:

Criminologists have tried for decades to prove that the overrepresentation of blacks in prison is due to criminal-justice racism. They have been forced to the same conclusion: Racial differences in patterns of offending, not racial bias by police and other officials, are the principal reason that such greater proportions of blacks than whites are arrested, prosecuted, convicted and imprisoned.

The massive scientific research on charging and sentencing found overwhelming evidence establishing that large racial differences in criminal offending, not racism, explained why more blacks were in prison proportionately than whites and for longer terms. Racial disparities in sentencing decisions are nonexistent.

Hillary Clinton falsely claimed that police officers are shooting black males out of bias. Yet, four studies have come out this year alone that demolish this charge. They show that if there is bias among police officers in their shooting decisions, it works in favor of blacks and against whites.

Look at the massive disparities in criminal offending in New York City. Blacks commit over three-quarters of all shootings, though they are 23 percent of the city’s population. Add Hispanic shootings to black shootings and you account for 98 percent of all shootings in New York City. Whites are 34 percent of the city’s population; they commit less than 2 percent of all shootings. Virtually every time the police are called out because someone has been shot—they are given a description of a minority suspect.

There is no consistent correlation between the extent of a group’s disadvantage and its violent behaviors. Crime did not go up during the Great Depression. Crime went up in the 1960s as poverty went down, disproving the simple connection between poverty and crime. The growth of the American middle class throughout the 20th century did not help reduce violent crime.

American cities used to be safer than the countryside (especially the rural South)—but urbanization apparently increased robberies by putting offenders in close proximity to numerous strangers carrying cash and valuables.

There is a huge disparity in violent-crime rates between the nation’s white and black populations. Despite large-scale economic, social, and demographic changes, homicide rates “over the entire twentieth century and into the twenty-first” were at least seven times higher among blacks (both as offenders and as victims) than among whites. Yet throughout, black criminals’ greater propensity to murder and commit other violent crimes endured.
