Ignore the in-my-face obvious issues and lend all of my attention to unwarranted, groundless non-issues? Not happening!
You have stolen many hearts Alfie, you have certainly stolen mine
What is it about this little baby boy, Alfie Evans?
He who lived for such a very short time, in a Country an ocean away.
He and his family have pulled at heart strings, as they've made their way into the News and Headlines of the day...and straight into the hearts and minds of millions.
This little guy not only has people heartbroken and questioning, he has them discussing and debating, all around the world.
He has brought many people back to their knees, praying as they have not prayed, since they were children themselves.
As a result of this spectacle which has played out for the majority of Alfie's short life, more so after his life support was removed, many people are beginning to have second thoughts about Government's intrusion into their private lives.
Many who have never really given Socialism much thought, other than the convenience Government may bring them in some ways, such as helping them to keep more of their hard earned money for the fun things in life. If their Government would just take on all or at the very least, a big chunk of the burden and nuisance of the not so fun things, such as their healthcare...their lives may become a little more simplified....
But, at what price?
The plight of Alfie and his Parents, have them wondering, what if?
What if they were in the shoes of Alfie's Parents, face to face with the reality of what socialism really looks like.....unmasked!
Hands tied, personal thoughts and opinions bypassed, parental responsibility stripped away, decisions involving one's own flesh and blood, being made by others...strangers, that do not share in this exclusive bond, the bond between a parent and a child.
Let that sink in.....no say!
Alfie, sweet Alfie lost his fight with a debilitating sickness!
His Government did take care of him for a while, a time, a season...and then his Government/his Country decided when he was no longer worth while, when his time was up and when his season would come to an end!
"What's it all about Alfie, is it just for the moment we live?"
The argument against Socialized Medicine
Alfie is not the first and will not be the last to fall victim to a flawed system.
I have heard all of the arguments, it was his time to go, he would not have lived as long as he did, but for the existence of socialized medicine.
How do we know that?
In the States, if this were our child, we'd pull out all the stops, we'd get second, third and fourth opinions, we'd seek out the best and the brightest to be honest with us and do their best for our child, no stone would go unturned.
In the end, if all tried, failed; we'd have the satisfaction of knowing that we had done all within our power, with a love and a perspective like no surrogate ever could, we could more easily accept the defeat.
We'd not be left wondering:
- What if there was a misdiagnosis?
- Were all resources exhausted?
- What if the right answer, the proper procedure, another avenue was right there awaiting us, in another Country?
- Why were our hands tied, when our child needed us the most?
This young couple that brought Alfie into this world, gave him life and loved him unconditionally, will question all of this, until the day they die.
It is so cruel all the way around, any way you look at it, any way you slice it.
America here is your wake up call
How close is too close to Socialism?
May Obamacare and the demise of Obamacare be the closest that the United States of America ever comes to such madness!
Socialism, although often tried, since the beginning of time, always fails, it never works, it only destroys...but that never stops a new generation from embracing it, believing in it and pushing for it.
Alfie's young Parents fought as hard as they possibly could, restricted by their very limited Rights, they have been through so much!
I am praying for them to find peace and to be able to go on with their lives, knowing that their baby boy is renewed and made whole once again, safely in the Arms of God.

Great News! Not only a happy and positive solution, but the right solution for Baby Oliver, as opposed to what happened to Baby Charlie and Baby Alfie.
God Bless the kindness of people and God Bless America!

Good morning wba
.... and that IS what it's all about.
How much control are people willing to hand over to the Government and when does it go too far? But, therein lies the crux of this, it doesn't matter what you may think is "too far", because your say has been forfeited, your vote has been canceled.
It's a lot to think about!

Those who want government healthcare will scoff that death panels are inevitable but some form of rationing is.
In this case the government decided they knew better than the parents but that's what happens when people accept government handouts with no strings attached.

I just read another article about the V.A. and the plight of our Veterans as they attempt to master the maze in order to get the medical help they not only seek.....but in many cases, desperately need!
-Waiting months upon months just to get an appointment time.
(I complained to a Receptionist the other day, because I could not get an appointment until the following week)
-Waiting twice the amount of time of civilians for follow-up appointments.
-Dealing with quick and curt phone calls and quick and curt staff.
These men and women that have sacrificed so much, put their lives on the line for even the quick and curt, only to be treated like this.
It is shameful.
I know that President Trump has stated they are working to make things better for our Veterans, but......apparently there is a lot that needs fixing!
Just imagine what it would be like if we were all under the 'Socialized Medicine umbrella'......
No thanks, we never want to go there America.
It is time to stop glamorizing it!
I know it was discussed at one time about giving you all a choice between seeking treatment with the V.A. OR seeking it via private practice, do you all have that choice? If so, does it cost you out-of-pocket if you choose the private route?

I cannot believe the number of people that are not only making excuses for this horrible series of events that this poor family went through, they want it here....in America! ARG!!
I need to head to the Inn for some R&R Pop!

Socialism never works, period. Leaving important healthcare decisions to the government is also a major prescription for failure. We need to be free to decide what is best for us and our loved ones. For me, there is no other way.

Hi Eric, it is very sad and it makes me so very angry.
These Parents never had any control over the decision-making for their own child...the State, Government, Country...(whatever we call it) had/has all of the power, all of the control.
None of this was ever about doing the very best for Alfie!
I started off heartbroken, now as more and more comes out, I am just angry now, knowing that many Americans would welcome this here, 'turning over their Rights to Gov'...it makes me twitch!

Very interesting. Very sad. We all have issues along these lines.
