Thomas has travelled the world and seen and met with many people of various backgrounds. His motto is, "Travel is the best teacher".
It doesn't seem so long ago and at the same time it can feel like a lifetime away.
When I sit in my favorite chair in my living room during a quiet winters day I think back of the days long gone.
When I was a child growing up in a small town on Vancouver Island in British Columbia, Canada in the 1970's life seemed so much simpler and a lot more honest.
My siblings, friends and I would spend more time outdoors than kids do now. The weather was never a deterent. It did not matter if it was raining, snowing or sunny and dry...we were outside. We would walk or bike with our friends all over town or spend time at the beach or in their yards.
It didn't matter where we went or what we did, as long as we could be outside with our friends.
In those days and for years that followed we had Mom and Pop stores, those friendly small family owned and operated stores.
Sadly those stores are becoming less common all the time.
These stores sold a variety of items for families--including candies of all types. So this is where we would spend some of our allowance.
Some of these stores would later put in an arcade game where some kids would spend some time playing.
Life indeed was so much simpler and a lot more enjoyable and relaxing. Everyone was friendly and happier.
We did not have the stresses and anxieties that kids seem to face nowadays.
How times have changed
Nowadays the news lies and is so extreme left leaning and biased. Even the teachers in schools are pushing the extreme leftist propaganda and agenda.
Many of the social media sites are the same and internet search sites are removing conservative things and labeling them as hate which we know they are not hateful.
These are things kids face these days, they face constant bombardment of the extreme leftist lies and propaganda from teachers, mainstream media, politicians and social network sites.
The people in this country who love freedom, democracy, morals, ethics and equality are being squashed and silenced by the leftists.
The ones on the left are changing bad to mean good, wrong to mean right and dictating our speech, thoughts and actions and stripping away rights and freedoms a little at a time and many people are not noticing.
The extreme left is even trying to change history. They--or some of them are trying to make their side out to be the ones who single-handedly fought for rights and freedoms and that they are morraly upright, but they are not.
Throughout history many people of all political stripes have done good and have done bad, but now, today, the left has become extreme in their views and opinions, destroying history and stripping away good morals while lacking in ethics.
So, how did we get here?
It is the frog in hot water syndrome, where you put a frog in warm water and slowly turn up the temperature so he doesn't notice he is being boiled to death.
Yes, life was so much more honest, simple and friendlier many decades ago.
How did we lose that? Were we the frog in hot water? Did we not notice the leftists striping away our rights and freedoms, our morals and ethics? Did we not see them changing what is bad and labeling it as good and taking their lies saying it is truth? Did we really not see this happening?
You tell me
As of January 11th, 2021 the extreme left shut down a social media site that was an advocate for free speech.
This goes to show that we are losing freedoms as I mentioned. The left is not about freedom, but instead about control and opposing any views, ideas that are different than theirs.

Thanks for your comment.
I am not speaking about race or racism.
I am speaking about how the extremeists on the left have been stripping away our rights and freedoms and shutting down opinions and ideas of those who are not in line with what they believe. They even vandalized and destroyed monuments to our history

This was a very interesting and I will say illuminating article. I don't know how far you are correct as far as Canada is concerned because Mr. Trudeau has four Sikhs as cabinet ministers. What you have written is completely applicable to the United States where there is definitely a big racial bar. I have been so many times to both Canada and United States where I have relations and as far as the USA is concerned I don't find historically any change for the last so many decades from the time when 15 black soldiers were summarily hanged in 1915 To 2020 when Lloyd was strangulated to death by a white cop. It was very interesting reading your assessment which is by and large correct.

I think your take is worthy to be mindful of. Too far in either direction serves to divide and not unite. Your youth is parallel to mine.
