Why is Precious Life so Devalued?

God Bless America, Land that I Love, Stand beside her and guide her, thru the night, with a Light from above...

Moments before the massacre took place in Las Vegas, Country Music Artists, Big and Rich, led the crowd in 'God Bless America'

Moments before the massacre took place in Las Vegas, Country Music Artists, Big and Rich, led the crowd in 'God Bless America'

IF anyone had told me...

If anyone had told me...when I was a wide-eyed little girl or when I was about to enter high school, starting my first job, beginning college, about to get married, newly married, after I gave birth to my first, second, third child or...

Sadly, this is where things changed...I can't keep going, I can't say after my grandchildren were born

If anyone had told me...that groups of wicked people would begin killing in the name of Allah, all around the globe and that many of the killing fields, would be right here on American soil, including the worst attack of all, which would utilize airplanes, of all things!

Or that two hate-filled 12th graders, feeding off of one another, obsessed with violent video games would go on a killing spree of their classmates or that other evil, hate-filled individuals would enter schools, church buildings, movie theaters, plant bombs along marathon routes or that a wealthy gambler would turn his attention to gunning down concert-goers just because...

Those would have been descriptions of movie scenes. Only make-believe. Pretend!

These things weren't happening for the majority of my life, why are they happening so frequently now and shouldn't we be having this conversation?

News Outlets, which once simply reported the news of the day, now set and control what the daily narrative will be. There are no longer reporters of the news, there are daily diatribes; telling us what we should think, how we should feel and...who or what we should be blaming.

News coming through social media makes sure the printed material they prefer us to see, is most prominent!

When we question the progressive agenda; revising history, putting false notions in the minds of the young and playing on their emotions, blaming America for all things bad, we are told that history needs "correcting" or "it's undergoing a cleansing!" (what does that even mean?)

Any talk of there being a greater turning away from God in recent years is met with; there is no God or if God does exist, then why does he allow bad things to happen. If it is suggested that evil has been allowed to fester for far too long, we are told that evil doesn't exist and that God (who doesn't exist either) is to blame!

If we speak out against the great harm which is being done, when our Government, intended to be limited; keeping law and order, keeping us safe, now acting nursemaid to many that are empty on personal responsibility, but overflowing with entitlement, we are called mean and uncaring and racist.

We dare not even consider that aborting babies, disposing of them, as if they are trash, has helped to bring us to this point, that would be cruel and insensitive. (But, those that push it, sell it, deliver it, believing that babies are disposable, are seen as caring and enlightened health providers)

Value life much?

Value ALL life much?

I am not laying any or all blame in any one of these areas, just starting the conversation.

News of the day; young girl doesn't want to stand for the flag, because the flag doesn't represent her and she is planning to sue somebody over it, because she is angry...about what, she doesn’t really know.

Where is this coming from?

Scroll to Continue

Grown men, having tantrums, throwing fits like two-year olds do...not standing, not budging, refusing to acknowledge the U.S. flag/our National anthem, but they do it all while collecting millions from this Country, that has supposedly wronged them and is always letting them down?

Yes that is a question.

Where is this coming from?

I've yet to hear a good explanation for this behavior.

They speak out of their rights; including their right to shun our flag, our anthem...but question our motives, when we choose to shun them...for their actions!

Democratic Senator Dianne Feinstein when asked which law would have stopped the Las Vegas mass murderer, said:

"I'm not sure there's any set of laws that could've prevented it."

But, that will not prevent her and other Democrats from coming up with something. They'll add here and take away there, they'll restrict us more and more and in the meantime, only law-abiding citizens will feel the crackdown, the lawless never heed!

Not supposed to call it as we see it, not in 2017, not in P.C. America.

(Question: Does the P.C. really stand for Politically Correct, because I think it represents Post Common-Sense)

It is so much easier to continue to blame the gun, the knife, the club, the bat... the pressure-cooker (or whatever device/means the evil perpetrator comes up with), the President, the flag, the man who discovered America, a 100 year old statue, a 500 year old statue, the Brits for losing the war, the man in the moon.....rather than face our great turning away from God, traditions and values!

Ignore the Creeps

Also in the News, a real creeper, Harvey Weinstein, the progressive darling, among Hollywood's Who's Who...has been exposed for the vile person he is, but where is all of the outrage?

Why it is directed at Vice-President Mike Pence, naturally.....

The Vice-President found offense in grown men choosing to throw tantrums and behave badly, disrespecting this Country, when they should have just played ball, so he chose to leave the stadium, where the ugly spectacle was playing out.

It is directed at the President because he, like millions of us, are in agreement, as to why the Vice-President felt he had no choice, but to leave the stadium.

Just today, I've heard from our ‘outstanding’ media....that the 2nd Amendment, gun shows, gun shop owners, guns, gun owners, the President, the hotel, the NRA...are all, somehow responsible for the lives taken in Las Vegas last week!

What of the evil man that broke all the rules, broke all the laws, lied, coldly and cruelly calculated, destroyed private property, succumbed to his evil thoughts and took aim at a fun-loving, trusting and unsuspecting crowd, as he unloaded hate upon them!

What of him?

Isn't he the ugly monster, the only one...responsible for it?

Yes, of course he is!

From concert-goers in Las Vegas to bikers in New York City to worshippers in a small rural Texas church.....evil has shown us all once again, that it doesn't discriminate!

Evil recognizes no law, no rule, no boundary, no age limit... it seeks out and it destroys.

I pray for the survivors and for the loved ones of those that did not survive, to all know Peace, once more, some day!

A B Williams (author) from Central Florida, USA on October 14, 2017:

Wrench, if only all of the horrible, "science fiction", which takes place, were on a movie screen!

Ronnie wrenchBiscuit on October 13, 2017:

AB, Believe it or not, a great majority of my commentary is watered down for public consumption. You have asked a rhetorical question that requires no response. I enjoy your articles because it's like reading science fiction that unlocks the door to a strange new universe. And that assessment is intended toward the positive.

In fact, reading articles that are in opposition to my world view has delivered me to a great epiphany. It has allowed me to realize , not just on paper, but in practice, the duality of any given event, and the various perspectives that can derive from a single source. In other words, I can agree that you, just as the rest of us, are both right and wrong on many issues concerning good and evil. It's only our perspective that causes the pendulum to swing either to the right or to the left. Neither I nor you could expect the other to feel what we have never experienced, as that would require a point of reference.

Tim Truzy from U.S.A. on October 13, 2017:

I worked at a domestic violence shelter a few years ago - you're right - things are different from the early years of the 20th century, but women still fight to be respected in tech jobs, political circles, and just being human. Quite frankly, I would love to take all of my HP friends to dinner and have a great conversation. The Bahai Faith states: once you eat dinner with a man, (woman) you can better understand him (her).

Perhaps, that's why Christ had the Last Supper; He really wanted to get His message across, but let His followers show their weaknesses and strengths.

I don't think one group caused all the pains in our world, and I don't think one group alone will solve them.

Randy Godwin from Southern Georgia on October 13, 2017:

So true, AB! Even Trump apparently took part in accepting and participating in sexual harassment in the workplace and even in public according to his own words.

A B Williams (author) from Central Florida, USA on October 13, 2017:

Where does this stuff come from? "Many on HP have little empathy for people of color." and "pretend that people like you don't exist"... ???

You sometimes let your imagination run too wild Wrench.

These are far from the best of times, but I'd choose America every time!

I hope things are better now for your friend, but sexual harassment isn't a thing of the past and as we've found out in recent years...has been accepted in certain circles for a long time now.

Ronnie wrenchBiscuit on October 13, 2017:

AB, I am aware that there are many on Hubpages who have little empathy for people of color, so for the sake of argument, let's pretend that people like me don't even exist. Now, when we examine the historical record strictly from a white Euro-American perspective, we also see that these are still the best of times, especially for white women. It wasn't until the mid-1970's that a majority of women felt empowered enough to challenge rapists in a court of law. Up until that time the woman herself was often shamed, and blamed for the assault. Incest was rarely made public, and husbands commonly beat and sexually assaulted their wives with impunity.

This was made even worse by the fact that prior to World War II it was difficult for women to find good high paying jobs. And so, for hundreds of years women were forced to endure abusive spouses and boyfriends simply because they had no other way to survive. And when we understand that children were often added to the mix, then we can see how inextricably bound to their abusers women of the 18th, 19th, and early 20th centuries truly were. Marriage often amounted to nothing less than white slavery. Since the 1970's things have steadily improved for white women, and women in general.

Based on your idealistic rendering of the past, it appears that you have been lucky, and that you do not have to carry the burden of injustice, shame, anger, and regret. But I once had an Italian girlfriend (born in the early 60's)who was adopted as an infant. By the age of 16 she had been repeatedly raped by 2 of her uncles beginning at the age of 3 years. At 16, when the third uncle tried to rape her she was able to get away and tell her father. But her father blamed her for wearing a bikini! I am sure that if you asked her today she would agree that these are the best of times.

Thanks Paula but I was being a smarty pants. To my understanding the Ostrich really does not do that. They put eggs in holes in the sand and put their head down there and turn them regularly looking very funny.

So really I am insufferably Pollyanna like.

Suzie from Carson City on October 13, 2017:

That bird is an ostrich, Eric. Sort of like a child who covers his eyes & believes we can't see him! LOL

Eric Dierker from Spring Valley, CA. U.S.A. on October 13, 2017:

So cool of a comment Tim. You might really like "Honest to God" -- no it is not about God mostly. It is two highly educated psycho educated peoples talking about talking to each other.

A B Williams (author) from Central Florida, USA on October 13, 2017:

I'd not trade my life for the world's treasures, Eric. Just celebrated my Granddaughter's and my Daughter's birthdays.

The doors of our business are still open (you just don't know...which reminds me, I need to be working and not on HP ;)

Me and the Hubby are healthy, our life is good and my heart hurts for all those suffering from the multiple natural disasters, but more so for the many lives turned upside down or the hands of their fellow man.

So true Tim we keep trying, we keep on truckin'!

Tim Truzy from U.S.A. on October 13, 2017:

True, Abwilliams; true in some ways, Eric. Hey, but we are talking. That's more than our leaders are doing. We will keep trying.

Eric Dierker from Spring Valley, CA. U.S.A. on October 13, 2017:

What great comments. Maybe I need to watch more news so I know just how crappy life is. What is that bird that buries it's head?

A B Williams (author) from Central Florida, USA on October 13, 2017:

I hope you are right Tim.

I've always been an optimist, but the many horrific events have been heart wrenching.

We did take on Great Britain and we did win our freedom, but even way back then, those wanting it, weren't in the majority and many (as today) were aloof.

It is mind-blowing to me, the number of people that believe safety will be found, when more of us are willing to trade in our Rights for it.

Tim Truzy from U.S.A. on October 12, 2017:

Ken, my American friend. Great sense of humor! Still laughing. Keep up the positive. We will beat this: We always have. Never forget: We took on the superpower of the time, Great Britain, and won our freedom. This is just a small blimp in our history.

Suzie from Carson City on October 12, 2017:

Thanks so much Ken for being a good sport. It's rare when we can encounter individuals who sincerely do not "get" satire, but lucky me, I seem to find them & end up looking a bit like a deer in headlights. I try to be careful...LOL. I'm sorry I had to ASK you. Now that I know your little secret, I'm on to you, Ken & prepared for the next time!!! LOL

Ken Burgess from Florida on October 12, 2017:

Yes, and I have been told time and again my 'sense of humor' comes as quite a surprise to those who read my posts/articles, and then I just deadpan a post like that.

I used to write quite a bit about an NFL team on a very popular site (I had more interest in football a few years back, before politics/PC-SJW became predominant in the NFL) and one day I wrote a very realistic article (complete with real quotes mixed in) on how the NFL was going to punish a team for something they did.

That article got tens of thousands of hits in just a few hours and was being tweeted across the nation, the site's owner had to edit the post to state that it was satire...after checking and re-checking himself that it wasn't in fact real.

The great thing about type, it can carry in ways that you couldn't pull off in person... sarcasm and wit can be injected and then fly right over the heads of those not looking for it.

And I would be willing to bet plenty of people watched that video and thought it was 100% real. She does some excellent work, I like the one where she is talking to her 'liberal' alternative self. What she does with/on video, I can do with typed words, on my better days.

A B Williams (author) from Central Florida, USA on October 12, 2017:

Paula, thanks, now I know. Pay attention

Also, I'm sure Ken knows!

Suzie from Carson City on October 11, 2017:

Ken....Scuse me, pls. I watched the "conservative millennial" video and absolutely LOVE it. Since I don't know U well nor on a personal level, forgive me but please tell me that you're fully aware this is "satire." The young lady is great at humorous sarcasm and the idea behind the video is genius. It describes current reality, perfectly (unfortunately).

I hope you understand why I couldn't figure out what you are thinking about the video, even though I realize you're a very intelligent man. Intelligence doesn't guarantee a sense of humor. just let me know you realize this girl was merely ACTING!....Paula

Suzie from Carson City on October 11, 2017:

Pssst! a.b......"breakfast pop" is a gentle....woman! Her name is Patti! LOL. She has a great sense of humor, so no problem.

A B Williams (author) from Central Florida, USA on October 11, 2017:

Tim, Ken, Pop - Thank you Gentlemen, great points!

Tim Truzy from U.S.A. on October 11, 2017:

Ken, Abwilliams, great info! Winston Churchill once said he had faith in America because we will always eventually do the right thing. We hope so.

Ken Burgess from Florida on October 11, 2017:

In truth the problems are more complex than can be tackled, stemming from everything that technology and freedoms bring.

Three generations ago they were still getting around on horseback, and telegraphing messages by wire was all the rave.

What we have done in just over one hundred years is outgrow all the societal and cultural necessities needed for survival and continued growth of that society/culture. Or so we believe, and so we are tossing them all away.

However, much of what aided and caused civilization to grow to levels unknown, are now causing its demise.

At one point the advances in farming, from crop rotation to fertilizations was a boon for humanity.

Today we have advanced to genetically modified foods, contaminated with poisons, pesticides, and mass raised and processed animals genetically altered and injected with hormones, antibiotics, which are fed those genetically modified and contaminated crops, and we have no idea what all those chemicals, hormones, poisons, etc. in turn do to us, when we eat them.

Today we have so much freedom, we debate and argue whether men who want to dress as women have the right to use a girl's bathroom in an elementary school. We debate the merits of allowing pre-teens the ability to have sex change... people want open borders to all, while decrying their government for not providing jobs and free healthcare for everyone.

The world has literally become insane, because there is no accepted social norms by all, there are no set borders, not between countries, societies, cultures, sexes, historical facts, morals, etc.

Its one big collusion of confusion... and the pillars that made this country all that it became/was/is are constantly under assault... the problem is, I don't think we are moving to one larger, grander, global consciousness where all of humanity's efforts move forward to something greater.

I think we are just living in the decline of Western Civilization, and seeing the rise of BRIC which will eventually surpass and marginalize the 'Western' nations.

We are 'fast tracking' our decline in large part because of the impact technology has at allowing what would take a generation or two to occur, to happen in the span of half a generation.

Thirty years ago China wasn't even a third as powerful economically as it is today, in just ten years it will have twice the economic power and influence of America, and BRIC in total will be the controlling factor on the global stage, not Europe and not America.

Tim Truzy from U.S.A. on October 11, 2017:

I agree with your article, AB. I also like the comment that America has begun a slow dumbing down. Critical thinking is not high on the educational agenda of our country - that's true. But here's another point - We as Americans stopped talking to each other. How wise it is of you to state we need to have more conversations.

Unfortunately, it might get worse before it gets better. Children are spending tons of time playing video games and not playing and communicating with each other. The social skills to have a meaningful conversation are not being developed.

As adults, we are not communicating enough with our law enforcement personnel. I've talked with several officers - all of them wanted to do more "community policing," but they were not allowed to do that. (Andy Griffith was what came to mind.)

Indeed, there are "bad people" in every profession, walk of life, and belief, but the "good ones" are even greater in numbers.

A B Williams (author) from Central Florida, USA on October 11, 2017:

Sorry Eric, I appreciate your commenting, not trying to be argumentative, honest :)

I just feel that we're sinking fast and nothing ever changes.

Just heard today that the Boy Scouts will have to allow girls. Why? There are Scout's for girls, I was one!

Let's just pile them all into one tent and see what happens....there's a fix for what could happen. Ugh! Yep I am in a mood today!!

breakfastpop on October 11, 2017:

We have been through many dark times before, but what's happening now is widespread and unprecedented. I believe it began with the dumbing down of America. Colleges are brainwashing our children to believe that our nation is evil. They are turning out soft, uneducated citizens who can't think straight or make good decisions. Political correctness is stunting the minds of many Americans, and the rule of law has been ignored for far too long. Washington is corrupt. We elect people to represent us, and then they proceed to represent only themselves. The swamp is huge and it needs to be drained, and we had better do it soon.

A B Williams (author) from Central Florida, USA on October 11, 2017:

......and evil is evil is evil.

Eric Dierker from Spring Valley, CA. U.S.A. on October 11, 2017:

We really are talking oranges and apples when putting Pol Pot, Stallin and Hitler in the same breath as a mass murdering gunman. Charismatics is the former and reclusive in thought is the latter.

Crazed people who lead people are different than crazed followers of their own dimension/dementia. We should understand both but not confuse them. Jim Jones was different than the Unibomer. And also North Korea different than Vietnam.

A B Williams (author) from Central Florida, USA on October 11, 2017:

Because they don't believe in anything bigger than themselves Eric?

In the past, truly evil people like Hitler, stood out, because they weren't wired like everyone else. Now it seems the world is loaded up with Hitlers. Why?

Eric Dierker from Spring Valley, CA. U.S.A. on October 11, 2017:

I frequently ponder whether folks who follow news pundits or religious leaders instead of ideals/ideas, are prone to follow their own little minds of ego the same way. And so when push comes to shove they blindly follow their deranged mind. As though a thought in their head becomes reality.

If people were taught to think critically rather than follow without the critically people would not act out their craziness.

But then again the more folks we have the higher the amount of crazies and that is just a natural fact.

A B Williams (author) from Central Florida, USA on October 11, 2017:

Thanks Paula - Well stated, per usual!

Every single act of defiance against this Country, whether it be burning our flag, shunning our Anthem, toppling historic statues,(as if it's just a big game!) bashing America because she falls short in meeting 'expectations' (never the person doing the bashing, no way!) and on and on we could go, is another swing of the sledgehammer. That along with weakened, lost or never acquired moral compasses, make for a destructive combination!

Prayer Warriors Unite!

A B Williams (author) from Central Florida, USA on October 11, 2017:

Wrench, I don't agree that we are in the best of times, far from it. These times are very troubling.

I'm sorry, but statements that you have made frequently, on many of my hubs....put you smack dab in the middle of the America's getting what she deserves camp. You're invested in it.

It will be too late for all of us when the lights go out in the city.

"We will be as a city upon a hill. The eyes of all people upon us, so that if we deal falsely with our God, in this work we have undertaken and so cause him to withdraw his present help from us, we shall be made a story and a byword throughout the world." -John Winthrop

Suzie from Carson City on October 10, 2017:

a.b. ....It is a pressure-cooker, at a rolling boil before our very eyes. Now, each day we must whisper, lay low, take precautions to go about the simplest activities. Who are friends & who are our deadly enemies? Why can we not believe a word being said, by anyone, especially those we pay to work, speak and guard, on our behalf?

I hear your words and share your fears. This is real for all of us. Too many are even afraid to take a stand and speak.....face the evils and fight the battles. We simply cannot close our eyes or push the responsibilities off to others. No more pointing fingers, blaming everyone and everything, rather than reality, the facts...the obvious & the escalating.

Now, will we take the time, concern, hard work and finances to evaluate, control, research & rectify the egregious explosion of Mental Health issues, spreading like an out-of-control forest fire, throughout every part of our nation & elsewhere in this sick and dying world.?? This would be only 1 step and merely the beginning of a massive revelation, revolution and reparation. It must begin now, somewhere with massive force, support and unity. LOOK at each and every tragedy, crisis, mass destruction-murder-mayhem...terrorist act....not a single perpetrator was mentally stable or healthy. Not a one. All deranged, unstable, sociopathic, psychotic, evil, hateful and hopelessly broken.

Thank you for your passionate truth & concern, a.b. I am with you... Paula

A B Williams (author) from Central Florida, USA on October 10, 2017:

Great link Ken, thanks for sharing. Perfect!!

So true, all of these things are contributing to our downfall.

Agreed Jackie, America is being destroyed from the inside out. It is scary enough that many don't see it, even scarier that many do and don't care and/or think America deserves it.

Ronnie wrenchBiscuit on October 10, 2017:

It seems this way to you because you haven't seriously studied American History. For instance, the first two world wars were instigated by bankers and the west. Adolf Hitler sought to avoid a world war but Churchill and the bankers did all they could do to force the issue. During that time and since the Civil War blacks suffered lynchings and Jim Crow. And of course, before that blacks suffered nearly 400 years of chattel slavery, and over 100 million of my Indigenous ancestors were slaughtered by Europeans, with those remaining being dispossessed. And there was a short period of time when the Irish were denied jobs, and equal rights, and were forced to live in ghettos. Many employers even brazenly advertised "Irish Need Not Apply" when posting job opportunities in newspapers. Based on past history, in many ways these are the best of times, not the worst. The only difference today as opposed to 50 years ago is the amount of news coverage, as well as the amount of disinformation.

The bankers have been trying to rule the world since before Abraham Lincoln. They tried to convince Lincoln to let the banks finance the Civil War and set up what would have amounted to a Central Bank, also known as the FED, which we have today. However, Lincoln realized it was a slippery slope that would plunge the nation into perpetual debt, and so he found another way to finance the war. This enraged the greedy bankers. Not long after Lincoln ended up dead. John F Kennedy wanted to get rid of the Central Bank, and he ended up dead as well. What we see today is simply the latest high tech chapter of the greedy bankers and a ruling elite attempting to rule the world. Except for the technology, it's the same as it ever was.

Jackie Lynnley from the beautiful south on October 10, 2017:

The last eight years of hard work, infiltrating the White House and all that was good and honest in this country is the reason for what is wrong today. I was even fooled at first. If I could see through it I don't see why others couldn't.

They haven't gone anywhere and have many working on the cause. Tearing us up and then destroy America from the inside out.

What I don't understand is the idiots upholding it when so many of them will no doubt go down first in the final fall.

The enemy is here and not going anywhere. They are building armies in plain sight.

I will allow this Harvard grad to explain why we see what is happening in today's county, this is what our higher learning is producing these days:

This is a representation of a typical 'progressive', 'liberal', a modern 'intellectual elite'.

Of course there are worse elements in our country at work as well, the 'anti-western', 'anti-christain', 'anti-Patriarchal' organizations determined to bring down society as we know it today.
