The Afghanistan Ending Debacle

Scenes of controlled chaos is within President Biden's worst decision to exit the war in Afghanistan. Probably, very similar to those during the Vietnam war. It was disgusting to leave Vietnam the way America did in 1975, and now, in Afghanistan in 2021. The Vietnam war was a mistake and unwinnable and so was it in Afghanistan. Now, the disgraceful exit happens to a superpower as Biden stupidly announced a firm deadline when all US troops are out, kinda like what happened in 1974. All the opposing force needed to do was to stall any peace talks while continuing their slow but steady military actions eroding stability in the army and civilian population.

Of course, it was Trump that handed the baton to Biden. Trump's deadline to have all troops out was far earlier, May 2021. One cannot argue Trump is innocent in this mire, he also was determined to leave a long war at any cost had he won the election. What Trump started, Biden will finish. I don't think either would or could do a better job than the one that is now unfolding.

The Biden administration now is starting to panic to some degree because of the continued rapid fall of key cities in the country, cities that were once defended by Afghan troops who just flee, despite them outnumbering the Taliban. Their special forces cannot win here being so outnumbered. Biden's approach to this horrible ending was doomed as soon as he told the enemy the specific date when the US would be gone. How fucking stupid. Then, to leave Bagram airbase in the middle of the night without warning to Afghan leaders is just criminal. This airbase could have been used still and defended for awhile. Now, Biden is realizing his stupidity and sending in 3000 to help and defend the evacuation of the American embassy in Kabul. Biden, himself, is fearing that even Kabul, is getting to risky and telling all Americans to leave the country.

It is all just disgraceful for Americans to watch and for the world. Just like the Russians in 1988, another superpower has been defeated by a bunch of ragtag men, backwards in their thinking, armed with AK-47's. Estimates now claim that a collapse fall of the country can occur within 90 days, a few weeks ago, it was six months. The Afghan army and its leaders are just like the South Vietnamese in 1974-5, unless American soldiers and airpower is present in a battle, they run like rats for cover. Those that do stand and fight are simply the exception and are too few.

Nobody likes to lose. Many, and even myself, agree that 20 years is enough. But Biden and Trump totally miscalculated the Taliban and their resilience. Either that, or they just didn't care because enough WAS enough. There was a much better and honorable way to end and leave that would at least preserve some dignity. But for political reasons, Biden chose to rush out in secrecy and told the enemy his plans while continuing peace discussions in Doha. Those peace negotiations are a joke to the Taliban who are conquering everywhere. To say that no international nation will recognize a Taliban government that used war to do so, has the Taliban laughing. They just don't care. Biden is being played a stupid old man fool, either that, or, Biden just doesn't are either because one way or another, America is ending the Afghanistan debacle, even if with disgrace from its allies who feel they no longer can trust the Americans.

The fall of the country and its capital, Kabul, will be just as tragic, chaotic, and horror, as the fall of Saigon in 1975. The bloodbath will be like no other. America, just look the other way.

I cannot argue against these responses. I am just appalled how this withdrawal is being handled which could have been done with more dignity by the USA. Our troops do fight well when directed but the will of the politicians are like the Afghan army after 20 yrs. Very hard to swallow and accept but it is understandable

We look the other way at a lot. Like the brutal and inhumane apartheid occupation of Palestine. We fund it! We left the Kurds to be slaughtered, giving our base to Russia. Putin kills journalists. Xi imrpisons Muslims. Saudi Arabia…..forget it.

Afghanistan was a done deal long ago. Biden could have stopped it, but why?

“another superpower has been defeated by a bunch of ragtag men, backwards in their thinking, armed with AK-47's.”

Sounds like the Proud Boys, to me. Maybe Biden is preparing for the war at home.

We are having a war at home, many many many are dying. It’s a cyber war, but it kills nonetheless.

The people are going to have to stand up to these male-violent man god people all around the globe.

We have different fish to fry now. Namely Russia. The big mistake is thinking we are moral warriors…….we are warriors for strategic purposes, of which we probably don’t know.

Biden has his allies. Different than Trump, but the fact they both wanted out of Afghanistan tells me it was destined.

And again, we blame America, but the problem is with the Taliban. The end result of these man god cults is always a bloodbath.

And weren’t we there for the heroine?

Anyway, no one is pure in this world. In the end, we get what comes with being an American. Good, bad and ugly.

I think my friend you have summed up the situation nicely. The American defeat is going to have repercussions for the next 2 to 3 decades and now all over the world people are talking that America cannot and does not have the will to stand by its allies. History tells us that when a nation loses the will to fight it just decays. This is the beginning of the end of American might and domination. America will henceforth be on the back foot and must defend its home turf where also momentous things are happening.
