Taipei rejected Beijing's 'one country, two policies' proposal. Taiwan's Foreign Minister Joseph Wu made such an announcement a day after the publication of China's white paper claiming Taiwan as its territory.

According to international media reports, Taiwan is conducting military exercises for the second day in response to China's continuous military exercises in the Taiwan Strait. Taiwan's southern Pingtung coastal area also conducted military drills on Thursday (Aug 11) with sophisticated armored vehicles and warships firing rounds.

However, Beijing announced the end of the military exercises within a day of the start of the exercise in Taipei. The Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs has informed that even if the exercise is stopped, the patrol will continue as part of the regular exercise in the future to prove their capabilities, and the monitoring of the situation at the border will also continue. Earlier, due to the US Speaker's visit to Taiwan, China conducted unprecedented week-long sea, naval, and air exercises.
