How do you satisfy your constant sweet tooth?

Sugar overload

Sugar overload

Have you heard of sugar babies?

No, I’m not talking about the bite-sized pan-coated chewy milk caramel candies. It is neither the 1979 Broadway musical nor Bob Dylan’s song in 2001. I am referring to the slang term for a young female who gets financial support and cared for by sugar daddy in exchange of companionship. These sugar daddies would pamper their sugar babies with money and other material stuff in exchange for sex. Yes, that’s right. They are called sugar babies.

Men by nature tend to seek younger and more attractive women. Women, in general look for more experienced and stylish men; able to provide comfort, abundance and luxuries in life. As humans, it is our instinct to get fascinated to beauty and innately desire for wealth and power.

Yummy sugar daddy! :)

Yummy sugar daddy! :)

Sugardaddie.com defines the following:

Sugar Daddy Definition:

"A successful man who is looking for a woman to spoil and share his great lifestyle with."

Sugar Baby Definition:

"A beautiful female in search of a financially secure, worldly man who can offer new and exciting experiences."

Apparently, there are hundreds of websites like SeekingArrangement.com, SugarDaddyForMe.com, MutualArrangements.com, etc. to connect some wealthy sugar daddies with attractive young women for a mutually beneficial arrangements. Sugar daddies are usually in their middle age, mostly married and may have children even younger or older than the sugar babies. In short, they are the modern version of “Dirty Old Men (DOM)".

These sites are basically online matchmakers, where you have to be officially a member by signing up and then creating your profile and then your matchmaking begins. Many of these sites claim to have achieved success in the relationship through testimonials that speaks about a loving and mutually agreed relationship.

“Many young American women-turned-sugar babies are college students looking to pay for their education.” Source: The Huffington Post

The goal~

The goal of each site is all the same, which is to hook up people looking for someone specials. The sugar babies are spoiled and paid well by their sugar daddies. Unlike a typical call girl or prostitutes, sugar babies’ typically only deal with “regular” customers or clients. These customers/clients (sugar daddies) are screened by the matchmaker company specifically for their financial ability to pay. Money is usually paid by sugar daddies upfront. Sugar babies can have one or more sugar daddies arranged for them, not exclusive. Some sugar babies can manage to score multiple sugar daddies. What a skill, I must say!

Sugar babies can have one or more sugar daddies arranged for them and vice-versa.

Sugar babies can have one or more sugar daddies arranged for them and vice-versa.

Okay, Coconut man, Moon Heads and pea. You ready? What's your Price Tag?

Sugar babies lifestyle~

Getting involved in a sugar baby/sugar daddy relationship doesn’t mean commitment. It is more so of a recreational relationship and it will not work without the money and sex for obvious reasons. And so, a truly meaningful relationship is unlikely to survive. Don’t be hopeful! So, if you think of it, the concept of sugar babies is not far from the modern prostitution and online companies help facilitates and promote the business.

Some sugar babies (and daddies) and the companies themselves may argue and deny the fact that this is simply a glamorized way of prostitution. However, no matter where you look at it, it is as it is—a modern version of prostitution, glamorized and made appealing by these online companies.

Oxford defines Prostitution as: "The practice or occupation of engaging in sexual activity with someone for payment." or "The unworthy or corrupt use of one’s talents for personal or financial gain."

Scroll to Continue

Can we justify it as to making an honest living to pay the babies’ tuition fees or say, the sugar babies are working hard and saving for their education and hence, they do it? Honesty? Dignity? Integrity? Self-worth? Personal, ethical values? Where are all the morals gone in the modern world?

Young women approach their lives & circumstances in many ways. Some make their own way, depending upon their OWN resources to succeed. Others elect to have SOMEONE pay their way.............

What does it take to be a sugar baby?

Most of the matching online sites will advise you on the basic things you must remember if you want to be a successful sugar baby. And, you thought this is common sense!

For instance, you must know how to dress properly. Duh, you obviously do not want to look like a hooker. But aren’t you one when to hook up is your ultimate goal? Still, the site recommends that your dress up appropriately -tasteful and classy. You also have to know how to market yourself by crafting an excellent personal ad in order to get noticed by potential sugar daddies. And once on a date, the site also recommends that you keep that “million-dollar” smile. Sounds like money really makes the world go round.

One of the sites, advised that in order to successfully hook up, “never make any reference to money in the beginning. Pretend as though money is the last thing on your mind”. –Really? Who are you kidding? These men although foolish enough to be on that matching sites are definitely aware that these babies only want their monies in return for pleasure. Otherwise, they wouldn’t be wasting time (and money) to be on that site.

How do you qualify as a sugar daddy?

Money—that’s all!

"Seems like everybody's got a price. I wonder how they sleep at night." ~ jessie j.

Did you know?

Vancouver sugar daddies are the most generous in Canada? They spend an average of $4,928 a month on their sugar babies, $600 above the national average. – source: seekingarrangement.com

Should this be acceptable in the society?

Personally, in my opinion this is simply a form of modern prostitution and a short cut to making a comfortable living and lifestyle, only it is legal.

If you are smart and decent, you wouldn’t go this route to earn a luxurious life. You must know that there are other ways to pay for your tuition, if that is your lame excuse. That is, if you ever care about your good reputation and that you value and respect yourself more than the Louis Vuitton bag and Tiffany bracelet that’s been presented to you in exchange for one of the most sacred things in a relationship-sex and unless of course, these expensive accessories are your determination of your market value. Before you do it, ask yourself: How exactly are you building your future being a sugar baby?

I also don’t believe that these married daddies know the actual meaning of the word “respect”—for themselves, for the babies and most specially for their own family, for the wife most importantly. Because if they do, they will not get themselves involved in this kind of extra-marital adventures in the first place. There are other ways to help out, if that is their intention. Keep in mind that most of these babies specially those in their late 20’s will likely cheat on you (daddies) and banging other folks and dudes in their 20’s.

So, don’t be a fool daddies, these babies do not want a relationship with you except for your money. That’s all!

Most of the sugar babes are insisting that they do it mainly in order to pay for their soaring cost of college/university education. Is this a valid reason or material girls' sheer laziness? If this is the case, should we blame the government for not providing us an affordable higher education and good employment opportunity?

Pan handlers or sugar babies?

Pan handlers or sugar babies?

Sugar daddies!

Final thoughts~

It’s scary enough that the society keeps on accepting what’s not supposed to be acceptable. Twisted is the word—twisted society! Outright failure! I wonder in which direction our society is going to?

I’m certain we all have different views on this? What’s your take? Should the society condone or condemn the practice?

“Relationships that are successful are mutually beneficial at the end of the day” – claims one of the online matching sites. I’m not sure about that. However, one thing is for sure, this arrangement will certainly piss off a lot of housewives!

Hi Cris the modern concept for the flesh trade present two sad faces of our society. One, helpless in need of help. Second an opportunist in search helpless. The acceptance factor depends on how the society reacts. Nice hub Cris thanks for sharing.

CrisSp (author) from Sky Is The Limit Adventure on August 16, 2014:

Sanxuary: I very much agree on what you said and the bottom line is, it is still prostitution. Thank you for your readership.

Sanxuary on August 16, 2014:

This is what you call a materialistic relationship. Its generally pretty fake and usually ends when the money ends or if a bigger wallet comes along. People who live this way are so caught in their ways that they speak a whole other language if you our not one of them. Its hard to describe on here but your left going is this person for real and do they have any clue how unappealing they are. I was watching a true crime show where a young material girl, not that she deserved to die was murdered. Soon the whole family was there suffering from the same illness to describe there life like it was normal. In 6th grade she told the class what she wanted to be when she grew up. Rich was the answer and from there she chased rich men until one of them killed her. Needs are a huge requirement for anyone's well being and we usually need money. Still money is a horrible thing to shape your entire personality and life around. Even more important is the mutual commitment to a relationship. I never found any good relationships until I found someone who could meet me half way to include finances. It was never about the money but everything about meeting me half way. This is not about splitting things 50-50. Its about paying the bills together and then having enough freedom to spend your own money together on something or on something you want. Men who spend money on women like this are buying their wife. If they want to save money a Prostitute would be cheaper and a lot less of a problem.

CrisSp (author) from Sky Is The Limit Adventure on August 12, 2014:

Bill72: Thank you for reading and leaving such lengthy comments. I appreciate your effort. To answer your question, CrisSp does not sleep with any random guy. She's happily married for 27 years now all in the name of pure love without any material cost in exchange and the relationship is mutually and morally beneficial. To each his own and CrisSp totally respect your opinion, however, CrisSp strongly believed that there are other choices in life than just to be a "slut or a prostitute". The challenge is which direction would people go?

Bill72 on August 05, 2014:

I have an SB, it was my wife's idea to get one.

Whenever I see someone complaining about it, they are almost always either young women who are jealous because of the wealth and opportunity that the SBs have access to or older women who are jealous because they are no competition for the young, smart, ambitious SBs. Sometimes one will see men who are hopelessly unsuccessful complain too, but again, rooted in jealousy for what they cannot have.

A SB's boyfriend may give her hundreds or thousands of dollars a month. An ordinary boyfriend may give his girlfriend a request for her to buy him some gas. One 19 year old SB candidate I was meeting with said, when I asked her why she likes older men, "Because they don't expect me to pay [on a date]" What kind of society have we become that young men are so emasculated? When young women figure out there are in fact men who don't expect them, and will not let them pay, many find that appealing.

Throughout the history of civilization, young ambitious women have been attracted to older, successful men. The nature of the attraction need not be "a soul mate". Sometimes, it was not entirely voluntary. In general, they each get what they are looking for, and that is what is important. Love is for fools, and they'll grow out of it. Marriage is a business relationship first and foremost, and anyone who doesn't believe it need only try getting a divorce. In effect, ALL women are prostitutes in some way, in that they all want something from whatever man they are sleeping with; those who are not are called sluts.

My SB just loves our relationship. She calls me, "Just perfect!" She is happy. I am happy. The key to making it work is to genuinely enjoy the person one is with. If you don't like the person, then don't be with the person. If having a good time is first and money and sex are second, then it can be great. If they are just doing it for sex and money and have no personal connection, then they need to be on backpage.

The real differences between arrangements and "normal" relationships is that both people know where the relationship can and cannot go (there are some who end up married, but not normally), so the dating envelope becomes a whole lot bigger. If you are not going to marry a guy, then what difference does it make that he is already married? If you are not going to marry a girl, then who cares that she wants three kids someday? They enter the relationship expecting it not to last forever, and that is ok. Drama can disappear, because it is not a problem to sleep with one's SB/SD one day and one's wife/boyfriend the next (my SB asked if she could sleep with me and my wife at the same time, but that is another story). The age difference becomes insignificant to the vitality of younger women and the financial resources of older men.

It is all a matter of preference, which is individual. I personally like smart, beautiful, funny women in their early 20s. Some other man may prefer other men. I don't demand he is to like young women and he doesn't demand I like men. Why does CriSp think she knows what other people should prefer with their partners? In relative terms, it is certainly less moral for a woman to have anonymous sex with a merry go round of frat boys than to have an ongoing relationship with a man who treats her well and looks after her needs.

I do have a question for CriSp, do you sleep with any random guy you just meet and expect nothing in return, or do you want something from a guy? Do you want him to give up seeing other women, a "cost" to him? Do you want him come to your aid if you need help? Do you want him to buy you presents, dinners, and entertainment? There are only two choices here, to be a slut or to be a prostitute.

Crazy what girls will do for money and who they will do it for. Friend of mine runs one of those sites. Obviously at 25 and being broke I have no need for the site lol. It is always all about the money. Yes, I would like someone to pay my bills for me too lol. But, it is so not worth it. Because, in the end, you don't get treated right and are disposable. Thanks to the internet, prostitution has become way more high tech - like selling your virginity to the highest bidder.

CrisSp (author) from Sky Is The Limit Adventure on April 15, 2014:

Vellur: I am proud to say that I represent working to where I am now without selling my genitalia as my guest (galleyqueen) mentioned in her comments. :) Indeed, it's all about the money but not for me. My richness comes from good sources. Lol!

Good hub. Nice read!

Oh my goodness…I didn’t know whether to laugh at this or be sick. I had no idea people were advertising for this “lifestyle” on the Internet. Those two young ladies sitting on the steps look like hookers. They are, sad to say. If they think otherwise, perhaps it is time for them to realize that the “otherwise” ship has sailed.

What do these women think they’ll put on their resumes after they obtain their “degrees,” regarding the kind of work they performed while putting themselves through school? “I interned for Tootsie Roll Industries”?

It is very sad to see what is happening in this crazy world. I thought I’d seen and heard everything until now. Very insightful article, Cris.

Hi CrisSp, this is a very well-written and insightful hub. I totally agree with your views, too. None of those involved has any morals or respect. Although I agree that these girls are prostituting themselves, they wouldn't be able to do it if there weren't so many men who are willing to pay for sex with women who wouldn't give them a second glance, if they weren't rich.

CrisSp (author) from Sky Is The Limit Adventure on April 03, 2014:

Hello Randi! Yes, big business in fact and blame the social media for that. They are apparently doing a good job in promoting it. :)

"Immorality to the side, what are we teaching our kids about hard work? Why should they elect sunshine to last off their college education instead of getting a job where they can work with integrity? What has happened to our society?" -- exactly my sentiments as well. And, if money is the issue there are certainly other ways to earn it. Maybe just not as easy as laying down in bed with "sugar daddies".

Thank you for reading and commenting Randi. Always good to see you.

Hi Jackie! Thanks for reading. Good to see you here.

Indeed, we are all entitled to our own personal preferences and tastes. So personally, I find this distasteful regardless of our religious belief. My very good friend follows Islamic faith and when this topic came onto our table, he's in utter disgust as well. I mean, why really? What are we teaching the future generation now? That it's all about the money? Yes, "eat, drink and be merry" but I'd like to be proud of my deeds when I die. What is to be proud of being sugar babies/daddies? :)

Oh well, thank you for your valuable feedback. I very much appreciate your readership. And to the beautiful south, here's sending you some love from the sky. :)

CrisSp (author) from Sky Is The Limit Adventure on April 03, 2014:

It has NOTHING to do with being old fashioned. It has a lot to do with having pride in and ownership of one's self and being. If a woman is a sugar baby, she is OWNED by the man. Since the man has the money and power, he CALLS THE SHOTS!

Mary Hyatt from Florida on April 02, 2014:

I second what Jackie and billybuc have stated here! LOL Enough said.

Jackie Lynnley from the beautiful south on April 02, 2014:

Interesting tale we probably have all heard of but prefer not to think about. I definitely think it is wrong but if a young girl is just going to sleep around with just anyone then maybe this would be safer and if she is getting an education there can be an ending to it whereas another girl may end up uneducated, pregnant, house full of unwanted kids and no husband maybe turn to drugs or alcohol...I don't know this wouldn't be a better choice. A far as the Christian view point you are talking about non-Christians and I think the verse for choosing a life style of sin says; "Eat, drink and be merry; for tomorrow you die." So to me that says if it don't matter to you about your soul then do the best thing to have happiness in this life since it is all you get.

Grace Marguerite Williams from the Greatest City In The World-New York City, New York on April 02, 2014:

Remember: SELL your soul, HELL to pay. Sugar babies ARE going to pay for it, if NOT SOONER, than LATER. Also remember when the sugar baby loses her looks/charms, she can be discarded for a NEWER model so she has to START ALL OVER again on HER OWN,; some are even in DIRE straits. The tale of the sugar baby ISN'T a good one. Voted this hub UP!
