Bernie Sanders Edges Pete Buttiegeg To Win Primary

Socialist Bernie Sanders hung on to claim a closer than expected victory in the New Hampshire Primary tonight, Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2020, according to Fox News. Former South Bend Mayor Pete Buttiegeg made it a real horse race as the networks were unable to call the win for Sanders until 10:20 p.m.

Did Impeachment Hurt Joe Biden Worse Than Donald Trump?

The impeachment proceedings against President Donald Trump may have hurt Biden worse than it did the man in the White House. Evidence connecting Biden and son Hunter Biden to corruption allegations in the Ukraine may have had a negative impact on Biden's candidacy, according to Sean Hannity of Fox News.

Joe Biden Knocked From Role As Democratic Frontrunner

Biden, former Senator from Delaware, led the Democratic polls for president until recently. He slipped all the way to fifth in New Hampshire. With disappointing showings in both the Iowa caucuses a week ago and now New Hampshire, Biden is no longer leading the polls.

Sanders And Buttigieg Win Equal Number Of Delegates

Although Sanders received 71,034 votes to Buttigieg's 68, 604, he had to settle for nine delegates, the same as the former mayor tallied. Senator Amy Klobuchar surprised by beating out Elizabeth Warren for third place with 53,946, according to CNN. Warren finished further back with 25, 508 votes. She vowed to continue her campaign despite the disappointing showing.

New Hampshire borders Warren's home state Massachusetts to the south. Warren campaigned in Rockingham County, not far from Boston. She was expected to do better.

Donald Trump A Winner Tuesday

President Trump was a big winner Tuesday, according to Chris Cillizza of CNN. Trump's dream scenario continues with no clear leader in the Democratic race. Sanders has replaced Biden at the top of the heap, but Klobuchar, Warren, Buttigieg and Biden will continue battling, possibly all the way to the Convention in Milwaukee.

A Trump-Sanders showdown in the general election appears more likely now since Sanders won the most popular votes In Iowa, although Mayor Pete received one more delegate in the convoluted caucus system.

A brokered Democratic Convention?

If none of this large field can win the necessary delegates to win the nomination by the Convention in July, there could be a situation where the vote goes to a second ballot when the dreaded Super Delegates can vote. Sanders supporters were angry in 2016 when they claim the Super Delegates favored Hillary Clinton, leading to her victory.

Alexandria Ocasio Cortez Bernie's Secret Weapon

Bernie was trailing Biden and Warren before Iowa, when New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio Cortez endorsed Sanders for president. She even went to Iowa and campaigned hard for the bed-ridden Sanders. Sanders was sidelined by a heart attack. Cortez may have turned the whole thing around for Bernie with her frenetic campaigning.

Chris Matthews Criticizes Buttigieg

MSNBC host Chris Matthews criticized Buttigieg for not attacking Sanders' supporters. Matthews said, "He's going to lose that way." Matthews also claimed there is a civil war inside the Democratic Party between those "who want a revolution" and those who just "want a ride home" with a "designated rider." He pointed to Buttiegeg Klobucher and Michael Bloomberg vying for the latter role.

Michael Bloomberg Damaged By Racial Remarks?

Was former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg hurt by racial remarks he made several years ago which surfaced again Tuesday? Bloomberg said when he was the head honcho of the Big Apple he sent" all the cops to minority neighborhoods because that's where all the crime is."

Chris Matthews Says Socialism Doesn't Work

Matthews further said this week, "I've seen Socialism. It doesn't work! I've been to Cuba and Vietnam." Obviously, Matthews is opposed to the philosophy of the left wing of the party led by Sanders and Ocasio-Cortez. He further said, "I lived during the Cold War."

Therein lies the divide in the Democratic Party this year. Ocasio-Cortez and Sanders disagree with Matthews and the old line Democrats.

AOC Refuses To Pay Democratic Dues

Despite her refusal to pay $250,000 in "dues" to a Democratic arm aiming to retain a majority in the House, AOC insists she's "proud" to be a member of the party.

"I'm a Democrat, I'm proud to be on this team. I'm proud to be a member of the Democratic majority," she said during a Fox News interview Friday after receiving criticism she should quit the party and become an independent if she won't be a "team player."

Several sources have said she is so powerful within the party, that she intimidated Nancy Pelosi into launching the impeachment process which failed to result in a conviction of President Trump.

Joe Biden Leaves New Hampshire Early

Former Democratic Vice President Joe Biden left the state several hours before the final results were announced, according to Brett Baier of Fox News. Biden claimed he left for South Carolina to get a head start for that primary which will be held in 18 days.

AOC Bankrolls Candidates Against Her Democratic Colleagues

Instead of cutting a check to the Democratic Party, AOC is building her own grassroots fundraising effort to finance more left wing candidates running against her own colleagues by soliciting online donations directly for them. She's so far financed new candidates to run against Democratic Rep. Dan Lipoinski of Illinois and Henry Cuellar of Texas.

AOC Versus Super Delegates

If the super delegates attempt to take this nomination away from Bernie in 2020 as some say they did in 2016, they will have to deal with Bernie's right hand lady AOC. With her increasing power within the Party, even the Super Delegates may be afraid to take on an angry AOC at the convention.

Bernie Sanders Biggest Cheers

Socialist and now Democratic frontrunner Bernie Sanders received his biggest cheers in New Hampshire when he promised that everyone would receive a free college or university education when he's elected president of the United States. He also promised the federal government would forgive all college loans. An avowed Socialist his entire career, Sanders has never made it a secret he wants to transform the United States from a capitalist to a socialist nation.

President Trump has said he would never allow the U.S. to become a socialist country. It should be quite a war in the general election.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez Disagrees With Matthews

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez said on NPR, "One of the things that is so important about what Senator Sanders is talking about, and what this campaign is about, is that it's far larger than a presidential campaign. This is about creating a mass movement."

As one of the top leaders of the Socialist movement within the Democratic Party, AOC will possibly play a major role in who the party nominates. If the establishment tries to take this nomination away from Bernie, they will have to deal with the immense news media power AOC wields.

Edward Lane (author) from Wichita Falls, Texas on March 18, 2020:

Yes, I agree. The Democratic Party leadership has decided on Joe Biden. Although, Bernie does have a respectable number of delegates, it appears the momentum is so far in Biden’s direction something dramatic would have to happen for Bernie to win. However, this year has been full of surprises, so anything could happen. Thanks for the follow.

MG Singh emge from Singapore on March 18, 2020:

So far so good but now after last week, Bernie is as good as lost. The lost post for his campaign?

Edward Lane (author) from Wichita Falls, Texas on February 12, 2020:

Biden probably would have made his supporters happier if he had hung around and thanked them for helping him out. I suspect he didn’t want to talk to the media after his disappointing finish.

Chris on February 12, 2020:

What do you think of Biden leaving new Hampshire so early for South Carolina
