Introduction;: Two Men

Many Americans are celebrating the victory of Joe Biden and by corollary the defeat of Donald Trump. One can’t really sympathize with Donald Trump because of his antics after the election was over but at the same time, there is nothing to celebrate in the victory of Joe Biden. Suffice it to say that both Biden and Trump are lucky to be presidents and certainly not outstanding men.
Trump would have ordinarily won the election but his lackluster approach to the China virus proved his nemesis. When the virus broke he did not take it seriously and set a bad example by not wearing a mask. In particular, it was galling to millions of Americans who observed the deaths of thousands of their compatriots because of the virus.
Despite his defeat, we can quote that famous axiom,” give the devil his due.”
Until the virus broke the American job market registered the lowest unemployment rate ever and the economy was booming. In foreign affairs he will be remembered for the landmark deal he brokered between the Arabs and Israel. This will remain a significant part of world history, though there are attempts by the Biden group to discredit the deal. It is important to remember that Donald Trump broke up with the idea that no peace deal is possible in the Middle East without the participation of the Palestinian Arabs. Six US President before Trump had followed this hypothesis and Trump is the man who laid the bogie to rest.
He was the first US President who recognized the terror roots in Pakistan and made no bones about it. He also was the man who dubbed the Covid19 as the “China virus” and held China accountable for it.
Let’s have a look at Joe Biden. He has been in public life for close to half a century. I am afraid, even his supporters cannot pinpoint what has been his contribution during these five decades. At least Donald Trump was a successful businessman and set up various Trump Towers and that includes ones in Bombay and Pune.
Joe Biden will also be 80 very soon and it is certainly a matter of concern. This is more so as his running mate Kamala Harris is another nonentity who has been propelled into the prism of leadership. I have been searching the internet to see what has been her contribution to America and I can find nothing. She is also politically naive and I am afraid in case she is incorporated as the decision-maker of America, then sooner than later the USA will have to give up its pretense of being the number one global power.

Biden in the saddle

Look at what Joe Biden has been commenting and stating. It brings out the fact that he wants to undo most of the work which has been done by Donald Trump. Given a chance he would like to finish the Abraham accord and give more weightage to the Palestinian Arabs. He is also likely to go back to the nuclear deal with Iran. The fact is that Biden has not understood that Iran is not bothered whether the USA comes back to the deal or not, as it is continuing its enrichment of Uranium for the manufacture of the atom bombs.
During the period of Trump and earlier Obama, India had been recognized as a non-NATO ally of the USA. Biden's running mate and Vice President-designate Kamala Harris has found fault with India’s human right records and making totally unwarranted and uncalled for comments on Kashmir. iI surprises me that she could see only India on the periscope and had nothing to say about the Chinese atrocities in Tibet or the spread of terror by Al Qaeda in Afghanistan and Pakistan. She also has nothing to say about the human rights violations in Pakistan where Hindu temples are burnt and minority women forcibly married to the main community.
Joe Biden himself appears to go soft on China and is looking for accommodation. One reason for this may be allegations that Hunter Biden has been receiving a lot of pecuniary benefits from the People's Republic. We must remember the Red Indian saying that there is 'no smoke without fire.'

Many of Biden supporters probably feel it’s ok for Hunter to have gone and done this but the net result is that it would mean the president of The United States has one hand tied behind his back. You cannot have a leader leading the world’s most powerful Nation having a blind eye towards the ambitions of the People’s Republic of China. One of these is to replace the dollar with the yen as the world currency.

You cannot be blind to the fact that the One Belt One Road trade initiative is the vehicle to China’s global ambition and even Western Europe has joined it. The president-elect is planning to strengthen NATO which is an obsolete alliance against Russia. Remember Russia is no longer the power it was and is now just a regional power.

Unfortunately, Biden is going to focus on Russia and not China. Successive presidents till the arrival of Donald Trump treated China with kid gloves. As a result, all the littoral states of the South China Sea are scared and the US has done nothing to bolster their confidence. Biden has not spoken a word on this subject.
If you read history, you find that great empires like the empire of Aurangzeb and the Ottoman Empire collapsed when their leadership became weak and was compromised,

Last word

The Empire of Aurangzeb and the Ottoman Empire collapsed when men of less caliber took over. Aurangzeb was replaced by Bahadur Shah and he presided over the liquidation of the Mughal empire. The process of liquidation of the US as the superpower actually started during the time of Obama who was basically not committed to America as a world power. Despite a small stop by Trump, Biden would be the man who could well become the Bahadur Shah of the United States.

There are lots of supporters of Joe Biden and I wish them well but I feel America would have been better off with a different president; maybe someone more dynamic like Kennedy. Even Ronald Regan was ok but from Clinton and much earlier Richard Nixon, the ball had been set rolling by creating a Frankenstein. I am sure people will remember that Frankenstein was an artificial creation and similarly the rise of China to its present position is entirely the handiwork of the Americans.

Thank you Mark for your comment. Sincerely hope your optimism is justified.

Mark Richardson from Utah on January 17, 2021:

I think people were more against Trump than FOR Biden. And it's always Biden AND Harris, not just Biden. I am optimistic that things will improve, but I see a lot of similarities with Biden and George W. Bush in how they conduct themselves.

Osman, thank you for commenting.

Osman Ghazi on January 07, 2021:

Good article. I really like your thoughts

MG Singh emge (author) from Singapore on January 07, 2021:

Thank you, Ken, all these are expected and much more as well. That's why I wrote for continuity in a nation's policy a period of 4 years as the Chief executive is too less. After 4 years Biden will go( perhaps) and again changes will take place. These are sure signs of slipping from a global no 1 position.

Ken Burgess from Florida on January 07, 2021:

When Biden gets sworn in, the Administration immediately reverses almost all changes that Trump made that involved executive orders or agencies controlled by the Presidency.

This includes the Paris Accord Agreement, the Global Compact on Migration and UN efforts to move towards 2030 Agenda goals.

With a Majority in Congress they will pass the Green New Deal and move Americans to a Digital Wallet where the government can bypass the banks and put money directly into the people's hands.

All these things are certain to occur within the first two years.

MG Singh emge (author) from Singapore on January 07, 2021:

John nice of you to have commented.I am also not a fan of Trump but then he did a few things and maybe if he had gotten second term he would have controlled China.

MG Singh emge (author) from Singapore on January 07, 2021:

Rodric, you are right China is much smarter than Russia. Thank you for commenting.

MG Singh emge (author) from Singapore on January 07, 2021:

Thank you Pamela for commenting.I am glad you shared some of my concerns.

Pamela Oglesby from Sunny Florida on January 07, 2021:

I have concerns about Biden going soft on China also. You make several interesting points in this article. China wants to be a world power, and I think they would do most anything to succeed.

Rodric Anthony from Surprise, Arizona on January 07, 2021:

i too fear that Bide will go soft on China and undo our energy independence. I like the way things are going with the nation. I just did not appreciate Trump's caustic personality. I worry about the future. I don't know what the world will look like with another cold war with a communist nation like China. China is much smarter than the USSR was. They allow capitalism, just not human freedom, personal liberty.

John Hansen from Queensland Australia on January 07, 2021:

Thank you for sharing your views on this, MG. I did not like Trump, he is an oaf, but he did achieve some notable things. I am also worried that Biden may go too soft on China and allow it's world domination aspirations more traction. Both he and Kamala Harris have family/business ties to China.

MG Singh emge (author) from Singapore on January 06, 2021:

Tom Lesson thank you for your opinion. I appreciate it.

Tom Elsdon on January 06, 2021:

Writing from London. Hi! Nicely written. Probably what we see can see from outside America, cannot be seen by people inside America. Trump was bad, but Biden? simply incompetent.
