Nana Is Not ANTIFA

Since the insurrection in the United States, on January 6th, 2021 almost immediately the misinformation campaign began. Indeed in the last twelve, or so months, due to all the uncertainty in our lives, misinformation and conspiracy theories have been flourishing. That is why I think it is important to counter them and not allow them to grow and spread.

We have many right-wing media groups and individuals, some even in the United States government who are promoting the idea that the insurrection on Capitol Hill was done by ANTIFA (the left-wing anti-fascist and anti-racist political movement). Now, for someone like me who has been around left-wing protests for over two decades, I can see how ridiculous this claim is but for those who are not in my shoes I want to put-out some information.

News 4 Tucson KVOA-TV had a report on January 7th that Marsha Murphy, age 50, from Arizona, was arrested while on a live-feed from the attack on Capitol Hill. Her daughter came-out on the news to condemn her 50 year old mother's actions, telling reporters that she had difficulty explaining to her own children what "Nana" had done.

"Nana" is not ANTIFA. Neither is the guy carrying the Confederate flag around Capitol Hill, who is now wanted by the FBI. Neither is the guy who many saw in photographs dressed in tactical gear, with zip-ties in his hand: Eric Gavelek Munchel. He came to the protest with his own mother. ANTIFA members never come to protest with their mothers. It just doesn't happen. That thought alone is ridiculous: to bring mother to a protest where we are going to fight cops. That speaks of inexperience, to say the very least. ANTIFA has experience and thus, they do not bring their mothers to protests.

What about the "highly decorated combat veteran", Lt. Colonel. Larry Brock of Texas? Is he ANTIFA too? He is undercover ANTIFA in his army gear, with zip-ties in his hand? Was Ashli Babbit, the Air Force veteran who got shot by police in the storming of Capitol Hill also ANTIFA? Is Klete Keller, the two-time Olympic gold medalist swimmer, now charged with joining the insurrection on Capitol Hill, ANTIFA? How about Republican of West Virginia state, lawmaker Derrick Evans who was also part of the insurgency? He is ANTIFA?

No, these are right-wing extremists and it is quite obvious. Their own families are speaking out. It is important we expose lies for what they are and we tell people the truth: right-wing extremists, fueled and helped by many others, including some United States politicians, attacked Capitol Hill, with the intention to stop the certification of the electoral votes and the peaceful transition of power from one presidential administration to another. They failed this time but they might not fail the next time if we are not on guard, in the United States, or somewhere else around the globe.

All the best to everyone!

Capitol Arrests

Mr. Happy (author) from Toronto, Canada on January 15, 2021:

You are right Mr. Anthony: "they are against the things that went on January 6th". ANTIFA would not be caught dead with a Confederate flag. Or, storming Capitol Hill.

"It doesn't take much to get a nation twisted into fascism" - It doesn't especially in the United States because the fascist and extremist mind-set exist and have existed for a long time. That is why I put-up the picture of Timothy McVeigh. He wasn't ANTIFA. Read-up on him and You will understand a lot more of how this insurrection on Capitol Hill happened.

The extreme right-wing Militias exist and have been increasing their membership since the Obama presidency. A black man as president got them all worked-up and they saw him a a sign that the "white man's" power is at stake. They are acting-out now. It's not just about Trump. It's about "white privilege" - read my article from a few days ago.

"I do not trust Joe Biden or Pamela Harris to lead the nation, but I trust that they will not drive our country further into insurrection" - I do not trust them either because I stand on the far-side of the left-wing political spectrum. I tend to align myself with the anarcho-syndicalist ideology and Joe and Pamela are corporate politicians trying to maintain the status quo.

Let me say a few things here:

It was the Left who fought alongside women for them to gain their rights as members of society. It was the Left who fought to end child labor. It was the Left who fought for worker's rights. It was the Left who fought alongside people of colour for them to gain rights as the whites. And Jesus was really a socialist if You think about it. : )

Well, I am thankful for You reading this piece of writing and for leaving a great thoughtful message. I appreciate it.

All the best to You and La Familia!

Mr. Jodah, "common sense is sound practical judgement concerning everyday matters". What happened in America and politics in general are not everyday matters, in my opinion.

I did not understand what ANTIFA was until I read this article. I am a Right-leaning Republican who was confused by the reports of ANTIFA since I thought, and still think they are against the things that went on January 6th.

I must admit, I hoped some organization planned the riot and insurrection that day so that I could blame someone for making me burst into tears twice because of what I thought could have happened. I love my nation and the people who represent us in the Hall of Law of the Capitol. I am tearing up now as I write this.

Jodah, I am confused s to why members of my party would listen to anyone who would tell them to storm the halls of liberty of our nation in support of a man who is a blip on the radar of this nation's history. All I know is that Hitler was a blip too. Look how that turned out.

It doesn't take much to get a nation twisted into fascism it seems. I never thought the day would come or could come in the USA that a president would incite a riot because he did not want to accept the results of the election. He should have quietly pursued it if anything. I voted for him and wanted him to win. When he did not, I still wanted it to be a hoax, but it isn't.

I do not trust Joe Biden or Pamela Harris to lead the nation, but I trust that they will not drive our country further into insurrection. I grieve that our Capitol is walled up like we live in a country where democracy is new. I am literally crying tears right now. It breaks my heart that people in this nation do not realize how precious our freedoms are. How dare they use mob rule to enforce their wills on people at all, let alone Congress! The last time that happened God punished us with a civil war. At least we were trying to keep the Union together then and eventually free humans from bondage.

What was the purpose of this insurrection? "We should have won the elections," they say. "So, make it happen Congress or else..."

I am so disappointed in the people who felt it was permissible to do what they did and dishonor our sacred dead by using religious symbols and racist ones alike to invoke a cry for freedom when by virtue of their actions they brought oppression. Okay, I'm finished.

Thanks for sharing some common sense, Mr Happy. Well, I would like to think it is still seen as common sense. Who knows anymore.

That was an ANTIFA raccoon - they got the mask and everything! Always ready for trouble those ANTIFA raccoons!

Thanks for stopping-by and leaving a comment, Mr. Hart.

Nolen Hart from Southwest on January 14, 2021:

I found that my garbage can was knocked over this morning. There were tiny little footprints all around it in the snow. I'm pretty sure it was Antifa.

Mr. Happy (author) from Toronto, Canada on January 14, 2021:

Thank You for the visit and comment Mr. Bill.

You know, I put the photograph of Timothy McVeigh not only to remind people that it wasn't a left-wing activist who blew-up the Oklahoma federal building. It is also interesting to see McVeigh in his army uniform, just like many of these insurgents on Capitol Hill.

It is true here in Canada too that some army members get radicalized by right-wing extremist groups. We have to stay vigilant.

All the best!

All of these experts wouldn't know ANTIFA if they tripped over it on a sunny day. My God, why do these people believe all of these ridiculous, unfounded rumors? It's a strange country I live in these days, and the next week is going to be a true test of our republic. Stay tuned!

Have a fabulous Thursday, my friend!
