POLITICAL AND SOCIAL ISSUES are ever with us. Gain perspective by reading what Rodric has to say about it.
Not that it matters, I see, but this is an open letter to the lame-duck president. I write one to every outgoing president. There is nothing cute to follow.
Dear President Trump, because you ought to be dear.
I am more embarrassed by you than I have been of any president before in our history., including President Clinton! I had the sense not to vote for you in the first election in which you participated because my instincts told me that you are a joke of a person. I am thoroughly embarrassed as a Republican Party member, card-carrying. I am embarrassed as an American citizen. I am embarrassed and hurt as a Christian and as a man.
My embarrassment does not come because you hoodwinked me into thinking that you are different than what you have shown. As Maya Angelou counsels, "when people show you who they are, believe them."
I believed you were what you showed me. I saw a freak show to amuse me. When you first ran for office, I did not take it seriously because to me you were a clown. You were not a real Republican and you did not know anything about politics. I voted third party for that first election. I dropped out of the Republican circles for about 2 years in mourning when you won.
When the Democrats began to act on their threats to impeach you before you were even sworn in, I took offense to such treatment of the Office of President. It was not you that I took offense for but the office. How dare people plan to impeach a president before he is in the office! It took two years, but I dusted off my party hat and sang my support for your presidency. I put aside the fact that I don't like you.
I do not like you. You may be the only person that I do not like whom I have never met. I don't even dislike Satan, but I dislike you. Your character chaffs me. Your divorce rate tells me that you don't finish what you start and you can not be trusted to take care of a family, so why a nation. I struggled every day with my religion trying to find it in my heart redeeming qualities to love because I KNOW you have them. God as my witness, you have good in you, but I have fought to see it because i don't like what you represented to me. You represented lasciviousness.
No, I don't think you are racist. I don't fall with that crowd. I think you are the epitome of lavish living in a manner that leads to destruction. So yeah. I don't like you. It doesn't mean that I hate you, but it is pretty damn close.
As a follower of Christ, I am constantly in repentance because of my negative feelings toward you. That is my problem, however. It is not your concern.
People can change has been my hope for you." Maybe he is no longer a bully," I thought. "Maybe he can care about other people and treat them with respect."
I found out you can if you have a script. I found out you can say nice words in person as long as you have an outlet on Twitter to say other things. I learned that when you go off script, you tend to mess things up. I learned that you still are the reality TV show host you portrayed before you took the highest office in the land. You fire people for no good reason!
President Trump, I voted for you this time around. I prayed to God and asked for guidance on how to approach political matters before me. I thought of your impeachment process and the good things you have done for the country. I wanted to give you four more years despite my dislike for you. I voted for you and then made sure that I voted for enough Democrats to counteract any absurd thing you did.
How foolish was I when the absurd thing you did was say that if you did not win the election there was voter fraud! I about lost my mind! What! President Trump, that was the same sentiment people on the Liberal Democrat side of things said when you won office the first time. I did not vote for you then, but I voted for you the second time. You lost and I was cool with it. I figured you would run again in 2024 if you had the health to do so. I would have voted for you then too.
I normally do not use foul language, and I won't start now. You showed your hecking donkey these last few months.
You incited weak-minded people to do your bidding to rally against a legal election in America! We are The Great Experiment, the longest runningdemocracy in existence. You challenged it; therefore challenging democracy the world over. And, you lost over and over again in court.
The fact that I STILL think that you could make a better president than Joe Biden floors me. I still think that! I would not vote for you now, though. You incited citizens to desecrate the Capitol building! Oh my heck, President Trump! They went into the building and scared the life out of us! What were you expecting to happen? You truly are a clown!
You stood for freedom of religion. You spoke for the freedom of America from international energy dependence and made it happen. You supported Jerusalem as the capital city of Israel. I don't even know why I like that but I do.
Your ego destroyed two marriages and then you tried to destroy the oath you took with the American people by making it another divorce case for you! I almost trusted you. Almost, did you have me. I prayed about voting for Biden but felt I should vote for you. I don't get that completely. Maybe God was trying to tell me that you would help the end-times come. You have caused division, strife, contention, and hate to swell within this nation.
Get out! Get the heck out of the White House! Good-bye and good riddance. You showed me who you are from the beginning and I, like a fool, defended you against my family and others. I am the fool who supported you in the end and you dragged my soul down figuratively hell in the process.
No, you are not the devil. No. At least he tricks me before he drags me. You took me by the neck ad told me what you were going to do and I let you convince me.
I still think you would make a better president than PRESIDENT Biden. But you will never know if I have anything to do with it. You are the worst thing to happen to the Republican party ever. You are the most divisive element in America since slavery.
I pray that you have peace in your final years. You truly are the worst president we ever had. Nixon has nothing on you.
This letter is the type of thing you are supposed to write down and toss into the fire when completed. since the whole country is on fire because of your arrogance, here you go.
Rodric Anthony Johnson
You cannot have my party. I am taking that in the divorce!
This is the link to the apology letter I wrote for this one.
- Dear President Trump
Just because I felt a certain way does not mean it is okay to express it to the world. That is not keeping with what I know to be true about following Jesus Christ.

I'm glad you wrote this. It's incredible to me that anyone (especially Republicans in office) can still support this man. He is pure evil.
Bill Holland from Olympia, WA on January 07, 2021:
He is either evil or demented. I haven't decided which yet. Well done, my friend.
Rodric Anthony (author) from Surprise, Arizona on January 07, 2021:
John, I have been holding that in for a long time. I usually wait until POTUS leaves office to write to him. I reached my limit. I need to repent about it. I felt so good to get it out of my head.
John Hansen from Queensland Australia on January 06, 2021:
Bravo, Rodric! I don't know what else to say.
