What is Pollution?
Before understanding what "environmental pollution" is it is equally necessary what pollution is.
The royal commission on Environmental pollution in U.K in it's third report gave the following definition to the term "pollution" namely:
According to section 1(3) of the U.K Environment protection Act,1990, the term 'pollution' means:
"The release into any environmental medium from any process of substances which are capable of causing harm to man or any other living organisms supported by environment."
Types Of Environmental Pollution
Three major types of environmental pollution are:
1. Air Pollution:
Air pollution contains gases and fossil fuels which are releasing through industries and transport in which most notable are sulfur dioxide, nitrogen dioxide, carbon monoxide and ozone.
2. Water Pollution:
Water pollution mainly include insecticides, herbicides, food processing waste and pollutants from livestock operations.
3. Soil Pollution:
Soil pollution includes hydrocarbons, solvents and heavy materials.
Causes of Environmental pollution
There is a long list of the causes of environmental pollution and some major causes are:
Increasing population is one of the major cause of pollution due to large population, the usage of natural resources is increasing day by day rapidly which causes a big harm to the nature and environment.
Forests and trees always control global warming and maintain temperature but tree cutting is now ending the forests due to which the global warming increase and it effect on environment.
It is the main cause for pollution because more industries want more fuels and gases which create more smoke and pollution. If we can't control our industrial pollution it will cause a great disaster for us in upcoming years.
Migration of people from rural areas to urban areas and countries create more pollution and especially it cause harm to the largest urban centers of the World.
Since from that time when man transform their transport from animals to engine base automobiles, the pollution increases. Every single person has their own transport to travel in city which create more and more smoke plus noise pollution.
First of all pollution created during the construction of apartments and after this people use that for living in which they use their kitchens, they use their transport at the place of residence which create huge phenomena of environmental pollution.
•Nature of Modern technology:
Modern technology use fertilizers for agriculture, chemical gases for factories and more chemical gases which create mess in environment.

Effects of Environmental pollution
Some major effects of environmental pollution are:
•Effects on humans:
The effects of environmental pollution on human are mainly physical, but can also turn into neuro-affections in the long term. The best known troubles to us are respiratory in the form of allergies, asthma, irritation of eye and nasal passages.
•Effects on animals:
Environmental pollution mainly effect animal by causing harm to their living environment, making it toxic for them to live in. Acid rains can change the composition of seas and rivers making them toxic for fishes and can cause lung problems for all animals.
•Effects on plants:
As for animals, plants and especially trees, can be destroyed by acid rains, ozone in the lower atmosphere block the plant respiration and harmful pollutants can be absorbed from the water or soil.
•Effects on ecosystem:
In short, environmental pollution, almost exclusively created by human activities has a negative effect on ecosystem destroying crucial layers of it and causing an even more negative effect of the upper layer.

In the end
Much is being done to control, monitor and rectify damage done by pollutants. The problems are diverse and some are only be recognized but it is important to keep a close control over pollutants so that we can maintain in an acceptable condition for future generations.
