There was also a small group dedicated watching the police near the protest to hold them accountable. After one hour protesters marched down Wrightwood Avenue toward the house of Chicago's Mayor Lori Lightfoot.

There a heavy police presence at the intersection of West Wrightwood Avenue and North Kimball Avenue near Chicago Mayor's Lori Lightfoot's home. Protesters gave each other umbrellas to protect themselves from the Chicago Police in case the situation got violent. There were some officers in riot gear. The large crowd estimated at over 1,000 played music and danced. The Village People's YMCA was played with the crowd chanting "Fuck CPD" for the chorus. The song Fuck Donald Trump by YG and Nipsey Hussle was played with chants of "Fuck Donald Trump." The news was announced Lori Lightfoot called for the removal of the Christopher Columbus Statue at Grant Park in the coming hours and crowd rejoiced.

"tear down a statue of Christopher Columbus in Grant Park" - So, did it go down? It should go down, even if just for the mistake of thinking that North America was Asia lol jk

On a more serious note, I cannot celebrate Columbus. If I did that, I'd be celebrating the genocide of the First Nations people. Can't do that.

That "YG & Nipsey Hussle "FDT (Fuck Donald Trump)" track is alright. Here's one I like better: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FyJKzEKI_XM

This one is fire too: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FwCNXNsndB8

Keep up the good fight!! Muchas gracias mi amigo.

I think protests are becoming more common because people want to voice how dissatisfied they are with everything.

James C Moore from The Great Midwest on July 25, 2020:

Logan Square normally draws crowds for festivals this time of year. However, protest are necessary. It's how we peacefully make change.
