Call Me a Child of God, an American or, Just Call Me by My Name

Politics aside, there is much more to me. I am passionate about many things and those are the things which sustain me.

I'm a Child of God...Yes I am

Call me a child of God

In all of my life, I’ve never heard the question, "what do white folks want to be called"?

That is a real question and it came up today in my Twitter feed.

I am just living my life, in the skin that God gave me, trying to live up to whatever expectations he may have of me. I believe that God has a plan for me, for he has a plan for each and every one of us!

We are all children of God and we come in all shapes and sizes; we come in a smorgasbord of shades, colors and personalities. The only thing that isn’t multiple about us, is our sex, there are but two.

I often fall short.

I’ve disappointed God more times than I care to remember, but I know that I have earned his approval as well...I hope that I have!

My human nature, oftentimes, has me dwelling much too long on the mistakes I’ve made that God has long forgotten and forgiven. My human nature leaves me thinking I am far from worthy, but God sees my worth and loves me unconditionally!

Having his approval means more to me than what you may think of me or what you may have decided about me, without knowing anything about me.

When I weigh my many blessings and give thanks in return, it is not to any man or woman here on earth. It is not to our leaders or a political party, Government or ’the movement of the month', it is so much bigger than any of that.

Thanks be to God!

As a result of understanding and believing in something much larger than me, life is made so much simpler. Not always perfect or stress free, but far less complicated than it would be if left up to me alone.

You Say

Call me a friend, a daughter, a wife; Mom, Grandma...

Not one of these things has anything to do with the color of my skin!

They are common things that I share with so many others...all across this earth.

Yes, we come from many different backgrounds and cultures. True, family traditions factor in, but the common thread remains.

Scroll to Continue

While my main focus is measuring up to God’s expectations, I, personally, want to measure up to my expectations ....of how my children and my grandchildren see me. I want to always be a good role model for them and the person they come to; for advice, for the sharing of good news or to have a good cry with...for as long as need be!

I want my friends to know me as that person always available to them, if they need a shoulder or an ear or a hug.....

Doing life with my one and only, my husband, tested a lot and then some...we've withstood those trying times, that all of God's children go through, we've gotten through them together, honoring our vows, trusting God, we are in this for the long haul.

My Parents are still with us here on earth and to this day, I crave their approval and wish to make them proud. Selfishly, my wish would be to keep them here with us always, but they've had good, full lives and are now in their twilight years, very comfortable in the skin that God gave them, they will welcome their time, with open arms.

So thankful for the many moments shared.

Call me an American

I don’t wish to be hyphenated, if that’s what the person that posed the question was asking.

I will gladly add some adjectives; a proud American, a blessed American, a thankful American, a grateful American....or just an American, works fine for me too!

I don’t like what is happening right now, present day, in this Nation. Many people, have embraced a movement, an ideology, which is disuniting us!

What good does taking on hyphenated names do us?

Of course we will be torn apart, with the constant unraveling of our common much worse in the past decade or so, it has gone past a slow unraveling, to a fast burn and it must be extinguished!

While many in these ideological movements know exactly what they are doing, many followers do not. Seriously lacking in most aspects of their lives, they glom on and follow all the wrong people and all the wrong things.

Of course I realize that we will look at things differently, with different perspectives, different takeaways, each of us are uniquely designed:

"Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you." - Jeremiah 1:5

Some of us will always be liberal and some, like me, will remain, unapologetically conservative. But, that can't be everything to us!

We cannot let that define us!

The real danger is the fringe, those taking things too far, trying to force their beliefs (or lack of) on others, defying God's laws and this Country's laws and then attempting to justify it!

The danger is in losing respect for our fellow man and woman.

I am praying for peace and for a coming together.

Please God don't let our coming back together, come down to an event anything like what has brought us back together, in the past.

God Please Watch over, Bless and Keep, These United States of America!

Thank you KC.

This was written nearly a year ago. At the time the question was posed, I couldn't dismiss it and I questioned the intent/motive behind it.

There were so many signs of a destructive path, I felt...began with Barack Obama's words, "we will fundamentally transform the United States of America."

Trump interrupted "the transformation"!

Many radical groups of people, hellbent on destroying this country, didn't/don't like it a bit and as a result, we are witnessing destruction, mayhem, statue toppling, flag burning, etc. etc..... from coast to coast!

Powerful, well-funded individuals {behind the scenes} are using people (mostly young and clueless) to do their dirty work; that's why all of this madness is happening right doubt about it!

Long story, short! :)

KC McGee from Where I belong on June 19, 2020:

A B Williams (author) from Central Florida on June 19, 2020:

Since this article was recently brought out of the mothballs :)...I went back and was reading some of the comments. I love the discussions that some articles bring about (sadly, many of my favorite people involved in this discussion are no longer at HP for different reasons, but that's not the point of this posting)

I noted in your comment Betty (are you still with us?) Psalm 103:12 - "As far as the east is from the west so far hath he removed our transgressions from us."

I read that again and the song by Casting Crowns came to mind. I felt as if the scripture and the song should be shared today!

That's all.

A B Williams (author) from Central Florida on June 03, 2020:

I agree, but I don't think the young pawns with Molotov cocktails and brick stashes, supplied by the Kings and Queens of their 'movement', have much interest in peace. They are brainwashed.

Shannon Henry from Texas on June 03, 2020:

I too am shocked by the attitudes of so many people I know. I understand the anger and outrage and that it is so much more than just this one incident fueling what has become a worldwide outcry for change. But at this rate, without peace nothing will change unless there is an outright civil war. It has to stop.

A B Williams (author) from Central Florida on June 03, 2020:

I almost quit HP yesterday, but since only about 5% here are conservative, figure I will stick around!

I cannot believe what is happening to our Country....well, I can, it has been planned by the radical left for some time, but I can't believe how many people...even Pastors.....are okay with any of this!

I don't recognize many of my countrymen and women any longer, as the

looting, rioting, maiming and murder continues. They continue to destroy and topple statues and memorials, as if anything and everything is justifiable...if mob rule says it is!!!

I haven't heard one person say what happened to George Floyd was acceptable!

I haven't heard one person condone what the 'bad seed' police officer did!

Everyone was HORRIFIED by it...AND YET, here we are, several days later, as if it was dismissed.

It wasn' never was!

What is happening is a result of God being taken out of the school building and out of the American home.

God has been replaced with instant gratification and entitlement!

It will be up to Law-abiding, God-fearing citizens to TAKE OUR COUNTRY BACK.

It is beyond what one lone man in the White House can do!

Radicals have infiltrated all branches of our local and federal Government.

Radicals have obviously infiltrated much of our media, they are condoning all of this violence!!!

What are we going to do about it?

Shannon Henry from Texas on June 03, 2020:

As you know, I stayed off of social media, for the most part, for a couple of days. Last night, I wrote a response to a meme that I feel is by far the wrong attitude, but I deleted it because I didn't feel like having a lengthy and heated conversation over it at 2 am.

A B Williams (author) from Central Florida on June 03, 2020:

Apparently, the Vietnam Memorial replica wall falls victim to graffiti often!

My question; am I supposed to find less offense in that, because it did not or may not have happened in the past few days?

Why does it "fall victim to graffiti often"?

A B Williams (author) from Central Florida on June 03, 2020:

Aww...thank you Shannon! I needed this.

It is such an amazing and exceptional Country, but I am crying for it this morning.

I turned off and tuned out yesterday, but then this morning, hearing about the men killed by looters, the destroyed Vietnam Memorial replica wall in L.A. and the people describing not being able to sleep in peace in NYC, has this optimist, so down!!! :(

Brad, I am about to publish my next article, born out of the word, 'ugly'. Thank you for the inspiration.

A B Williams (author) from Central Florida on August 27, 2019:

Let me check my American Heritage Dictionary, do I look under U or A?

Shannon Henry from Texas on August 27, 2019:

Isn't that what I said? LOL

A B Williams (author) from Central Florida on August 27, 2019:

Well I am not about to argue with Mr. Webster, but in the south, it has a different meaning.

I think that definition may only apply to New Yorkers and Californians....;)

Brad on August 27, 2019:

[Search domain American] American

Ugly American definition is - an American in a foreign country whose behavior is offensive to the people of that country.

A B Williams (author) from Central Florida on August 27, 2019:

That's too bad Shannon. :( Many years ago, there was this guy dating a friend and he didn't seem to like me, wasn't sure why, I didn't really know him that well. Turned out, he didn't like that I was opinionated. One night he said, "well you just know everything about everything don't you?" I was mortified, no one had ever said anything like that to me before.

I didn't go around with blinders on, I've always tried to be informed and I've always had an opinion....whatever, I got over it. Can you tell? lol

Shannon Henry from Texas on August 27, 2019:

That's everywhere, though. And I hate to say it, but it's also a generational thing. As for the ugly American over seas, consider the other cultures as compared to ours. Americans, in general, have a faster way if life. Unfortunately, that means we tend to do things considered rude to many other cultures. Our direct mannerisms, too. I do think a lot of it is cultural. Years ago, my cousin's wife quit talking to me because she swore up and down I'd been rude to her. I couldn't for the life of me think of anything mean I'd said to her or anything that she could possibly misinterpret. She never told me and her husband didn't know either so I gave up trying to smooth it over. It's too bad, though, because she was incredibly sweet.

A B Williams (author) from Central Florida on August 27, 2019:

I’m with you Shannon (nothing against the messenger...;)) it is that way in South Carolina and in parts of Florida...but too many ugly, anti-America types are moving here seeking to change our southern ways, as you’ve described, and so, we aren’t quite as friendly and welcoming as we once were.

Brad on August 27, 2019:

I am just the messenger.

Shannon Henry from Texas on August 27, 2019:

Hmmmmm...Brad, since when are Texans considered "ugly Americans"? I have met more people with kind spirits here in Texas than I ever did up north. Here where people hold doors for one another, yes ma'am and yes sir is still a thing, and people wave at total strangers.

A B Williams (author) from Central Florida on August 27, 2019:

oohhh...don't think I can go along with that Brad, "the ugly American may have been too American."

There are just ugly people in this world and we are stuck with some of them. Whether they happened to be born here or came here only looking for what we could do for them, they would be obnoxious anywhere.

Most places that I have traveled abroad, love Americans, so fortunately the ugly, obnoxious people aren't traveling too much or too often. ;)

Brad on August 27, 2019:

I believe that the Ugly American was not political, they were just rude when they went abroad giving a bad name to Americans. Americans because of the wealth and freedoms on America, I believe made the jealousy of foreigners take the form of disliking Americans, not so much personally but just because they were Americans.

I remember going to Toronto on a communications system for Ontario Hydro. I was there for several months, and I saw it first hand. And I don't believe Canadians were the worst foreigners about Americans.

It did take me by surprise when some people made innuendos about the American Eagles and other obtuse sayings. They were offset by others that were just nice people.

It used to be many of the ugly Americans were from Texas and NY. Like President Trump many people in their own country couldn't tolerate them, and they probably were obnoxious.

So there is no comparison between the Ugly American, and the Anti American. In fact, the Ugly American may have been too American.

The Anti American doesn't have to leave the country to be obnoxious. In fact, they can just stay in the powerdome of congress and espouse their contempt for Americans, for white people, for republicans, and especially for President Trump.

The Ugly American is a perception issue of how they are seen by other other countries. The Anti American is focus on taking all that made America great and replace it with all the things that have caused countries to fail around the world.

A B Williams (author) from Central Florida on August 27, 2019:

Brad, was the ugly American always anti-American, are they one in the same? Only now they feel emboldened , because they have numbers; they’ve infiltrated everything including a particular political party, academia, the media, etc. and now, they can be themselves?

Yes. :)

Brad on August 26, 2019:

The Ugly American of the past has been replaced by the Anti American of today!

A B Williams (author) from Central Florida on August 26, 2019:

Yep Shannon she hit the nail on the head...I guess that is controversial these days, you know...making sense!

T, Brad, no doubt about it, our youth are indoctrinated by the left.

They are hearing repeatedly, capitalism bad, socialism good.

America bad, China good, Venezuela good, Cuba good.

Earth good, people bad.....

Brad on August 26, 2019:

The LeFt of course:)

Now that might be a connection to schools in Russia and Germany in the 1920s thru the Berlin Wall coming down.

The Logician from then to now on on August 26, 2019:

Brad, And who says the left isn’t indoctrinating our youth?

Shannon Henry from Texas on August 26, 2019:

Oh, I actually remember seeing that comment. Must've been before they denied it. I didn't see anything wrong with it then. Nor do I now. Actually, I think she's right that it was there before....many of the issues we face today. Not all of them were as dormant as it seems they might have been, though. They just weren't the main focus at the time.

Brad on August 26, 2019:

CA Gov Gavin Newsom is giving former Gov Jerry Brown a run for the money on the worst governor.

Oh I've heard, they are "justice-involved persons". Good grief.

Stay safe and watch out for the JIP's.

Brad on August 26, 2019:

I wouldn't do all that work, just keep checking from this point on.

BTW I heard that SF now doesn't refer to Felons as Felons. They have a who new terminology. The point is that free speech is working for them only.

Have a great day:)

A B Williams (author) from Central Florida on August 26, 2019:

Hi Brad, thanks for responding.

I don't know...when one individual is chastised, while another receives a pass, free speech may be passed "chronically ill", it may be terminal. :(

I agree, it would have been nice to know that this happened back when it happened. I guess I need to go through the comments sections on 125+ articles now to see if this has happened before.

Brad on August 26, 2019:

My answer to the question of free speech, it is not dead but PC has made it chronically il. PC only chills the speech for non democrats, as the left has made PC a unilateral correctness. That is the non left have to adhere to the rules of speech dictated by the left.

Free speech should allow the N word and any words that people use in their normal speech. But the left has made their politics override the freedom of speech imo.

Looking at how the squad can utter antisemitic speech as members of congress without censure is an example.

The reason imo that the left can get the SCOTUS even to not call what they do as infringement on the freedom of speech because the left will react to that speech as people would react to yelling fire in a crowded theater when there is no fire.

The left will violently react to any free speech to the extent of protesting and rioting which puts it in the same category as yelling fire.

The left has weaponized their PC words to fit into that category.

As for Pop's statements here there is nothing that should be flagged.

The problem is with google, maven and hp.

As for hp, they allow the rudest, venomous, baseless, accusations that are false against the president and his supporters with no fear of hp coming down on them.

If there is a problem hp should put it in their TOS and guidelines and quote the infractions when they apply them.

A B Williams (author) from Central Florida on August 26, 2019:

......and just in case this turns out to be a problem for me, jot this down:

A B Williams (author) from Central Florida on August 26, 2019:

The following is what Breakfastpop wrote here, two weeks ago, which I am just now learning was denied by HP Administration:

“Many people in our Nation have lost their way. Certainly, President Trump isn’t responsible for any of the madness. I think it was there, somewhat and sometimes dormant, but there. Our educators are indoctrinating our children to be super sensitive and totally insensitive at the same time. Dems have morphed into an unrecognizable group that considers facts to be irrelevant. We need to be proud of who we are and not intimidated by fools who have a lust for hate. A movie is coming out next week that depicts the hunting down of “deplorables.” This madness has to be stopped. We need to boycott the news outlets that feed us lies and hope they fall into the sea. We need to change course, and we need to do it immediately.”

This ends her comment.

Someone please explain to me what is the problem with her comment?

Do we still have free speech here in the U.S. or do we not?

Considering the subject matter, her comments were quite restrained, in my opinion!

As I’ve said before I see so much garbage here, which gets a pass.

This stuff is tame, comparatively.

Brad on August 26, 2019:

I just checked, it was a comment to Vivian about her article being changed by the hp from Featured to not featured.

The visible comment was 2 weeks ago on this article but my mistake.

That was 19 hours ago for my comment to Vivian and I didn't see my comment.

You have something going on that also doesn't make sense.

Keep us posted. Thanks

A B Williams (author) from Central Florida on August 26, 2019:

Hi Brad, I don't see a comment of yours which has been denied. Unless, it was denied long before I read it or responded to it!?!

There is one comment by you, visible, did you comment more than once?

A B Williams (author) from Central Florida on August 26, 2019:

She didn't Shannon.

I can still see it, it is faint, but still there, I'm going to bring it back to life. Ridiculous!

Brad on August 26, 2019:

I don't see my comment either?

Shannon Henry from Texas on August 26, 2019:

That's weird. In the past, I've had several approved by admin that I didn't get to fast enough. But I've never had them deny one. I've had some show up in spam that took me a while to find...I can't imagine Pop saying anything that would get her comment denied.

A B Williams (author) from Central Florida on August 26, 2019:

I have no control over it, as far as I can tell. It was just done.

The only option shown for me.... is to 'Delete forever'

Shannon Henry from Texas on August 26, 2019:

Can you reverse the decision?

A B Williams (author) from Central Florida on August 26, 2019:

Pop and everyone that has commented here, I've just noticed that about two weeks ago, Pop's comment on this article, was denied by Admin.

I had no idea, just happened to notice it, scrolling through looking for something else.

I DO NOT understand this nor see any reason for it whatsoever. The crap I've read and have personally been subjected the left here at HP....that goes unchallenged, certainly never denied...and Pop of all people, is denied!!!

It is so infuriating!!!

A B Williams (author) from Central Florida on August 10, 2019:

Nope not off topic at all Brad...I loved the Planet of the Ape movies, (especially the original with Charlton Heston) but what I am hearing about this new movie is disturbing!!!

I had to laugh when Mitch McConnell was called out for sharing video of the wackos acting wacko in front of his house......but it is far from a laughing matter!

I remember after the shooting at the congressional baseball game, cooler heads prevailed and no one passed judgement on anyone BUT the deranged shooter.

Cooler heads must prevail, if we are going to get through these troubling times, unscathed.

Brad on August 10, 2019:

While I like your answer as the best, the problem that is replacing that is Democrat or Republican. Most of the racist calls are from White Democrats calling other White people Racists?

And now the democrats that run Hollywood have a new movie in the works just waiting for a release date.

The story seems to be based loosely on planet of the apes in that non liberals are treated as animal prey to be hunted down and killed. The left thinks that President Trump's rhetoric causes deadly events.

While the left uses unthinkable calls for action, go find these people like they did stalking Mitch McConnell home to protest him, and when he posts this protest on his campaign Twitter account they suspend his account.

But this NBC movie seems to be a call for action to emulate what the liberals are doing in the movie.

Remember when republicans playing baseball were shot at, the left bore no responsibility and they didn't see it as gun violence problem.

I would ask each democrat president candidate what they thought about this film. In fact I would ask those on the left here on hp the same question.

If my comment was off topic, feel free to del.

A B Williams (author) from Central Florida on August 09, 2019:

So I've watched the interview and what else can I say but YES, this is what I'm talking about!

By all means take pride in your heritage, in your town, go to the football game on Friday night, believing your town is the best and your team is the greatest...and when the National Anthem begins, all together stand up, all together put your hands over your hearts and all together...sing LOUDLY, be proud that you are an American!!!

Wheew....I feel a sermon or a hub coming on one! ;)

A B Williams (author) from Central Florida on August 08, 2019:

I Can’t watch it right now, but I will. Thanks for sharing Vivian.

The Logician from then to now on on August 08, 2019:

Vivian, that was a great interview, thanks for sharing it, so true about the left.

But to think he or anything or anyone can “unhyphenate” the left or find common ground with the left is quite naive.

These aren’t people with differing opinions. The left ruins everything they touch, purposely because they have an agenda and the only reason they would seek to find common ground would be to feign seeking common ground to achieve some clandestine objective.

The left is pure evil and you can know this simply by examining the make up of left wing organizations like Antifa, BLM, the Democrat party, looney left hubbers. You’ll find they have no respect for the truth, the law or anyone opposing the left. From supporting illegals to drug smuggling and drug use, we’re talking about the left, a godless, immoral group whose base is mostly anarchists, drug users, law breakers of all kinds and basically pathological liars.

Vivian Coblentz on August 08, 2019:

Wow! I think I may have seen that tweet also, but my eyes are starting to glaze over at the new and inventive ways people are trying to divide our nation.

I do remember a guy named Christopher Harris was on Tucker Carlson who created an organization called "Unhyphenated America" to combat identity politics and division and focus on what brings us together. I found that interview here:

A B Williams (author) from Central Florida on August 08, 2019:

I agree Pop, it's disheartening to say the least.

I heard about the movie. Hollywood plans to profit over the great divide...created by them and other leftists...Shameful!!!

A B Williams (author) from Central Florida on August 08, 2019:

Thank you Betty for your encouraging words, we need to be praying for this nation and for each other.

God Bless You, God Bless America!

Betty A F from Florida on August 08, 2019:

A B Williams,

I join you in prayers that peace will reign in our nation. I also pray that many will turn to God. Psalm 46:1 "God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble."

Even Abraham asked, if there were 100 all the way down to 1 "righteous" people in Sodom and Gomorrah, "would God spare the cities?"

Your message was so encouraging as most of us have fallen short. We've all made mistakes. God's word truly does sustain us in those times. When I feel that my shortcomings have disqualified me, bible verses are a real comfort.

Psalm 103:12 "As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us."

I love what you wrote here:

"I don’t wish to be hyphenated, if that’s what the person that posed the question was asking.

I will gladly add some adjectives; a proud American, a blessed American, a thankful American, a grateful American....or just an American, works fine for me too!"

God bless you!

A B Williams (author) from Central Florida on August 07, 2019:

No worries and yes that's the gist of it.

Suzie from Carson City on August 07, 2019:

OMG...Yes, I do need rest. I went over your entire article again. I see, in the very beginning you explain that the question "came up in your twitter feed." I apologize. So, now I understand the gist of your article. American is just that...."AMERICAN." Amen, my friend.

A B Williams (author) from Central Florida on August 07, 2019:

Hi Paula,

In my Twitter feed this morning, I came across the question, "what do white folks want to be called?"

This article, is my response/reaction to it.

(I did include this pertinent information in my summary, but did not include it in the article, I've corrected it so as not to be confusing....hopefully ;))

Eric Dierker from Spring Valley, CA. U.S.A. on August 07, 2019:

I kind of echo Paula. Do not tell anyone but they call me "big White Elephant" around here. I still call my "Native American" Hopi and Navajo brothers and sisters of which I have about 20 on face book by their tribe names. My wife insists on being called yellow by color. I do not know any black man who calls himself a man of color and they come to birthday parties and whatever.

Am I not supposed to be a big old white guy? I am a big old white guy dad. My Amerasian son and family think that is fine.

Suzie from Carson City on August 07, 2019:

OK....I give up. For some reason, I'm obviously lost. I enjoyed your article, Angie, for sure. My question is, what did I miss? WHO asked "What do white folks want to be called?" Someone asked that? Here, on HP? What a thoroughly asinine question! Is this what it's all come down to? We're "White Folk??" and......."what do we want to be called??"

I apologize but I'm having a very difficult time with this. Can you help me out a bit? I feel like something important has gone right past me & I'm left dumbfounded. Sorry, Angie. Perhaps I'm working too hard and need a rest! P

A B Williams (author) from Central Florida on August 07, 2019:

Thanks for the compliment T, always nice to hear from you.

A B Williams (author) from Central Florida on August 07, 2019:

Thank you Shannon, that is my point in a nutshell.

A B Williams (author) from Central Florida on August 07, 2019:

I wasn’t under the impression I was “bashing” anyone Eric and I am not about to delete this hub, so I am fully engaged, you have my undivided attention, what is it that I’ve written, that you are having a problem with?

The Logician from then to now on on August 07, 2019:

“So conservative?”

What does that mean Eric? That conservatives need to be not conservative about your liberalism?

There are no degrees to conservatism. You either are or you aren’t. You can’t be conservative about one topic but liberal about another and be labeled a conservative (other than in name only).

Define Ultra conservative Eric. I’ll define it for you. You think any conservative ideal that disagrees with your whimsical opinions is ultra conservative! That is nothing but a pretense on your part.

Great article AB. You have earned my admiration.

Shannon Henry from Texas on August 07, 2019:

Wow, Eric. My take on this well-expressed article is that Americans are Americans no mattrr what their race is. Hence, no hyphen necessary. Why is there a need to argue about that?

Angie you are so conservative you miss so many salient points. Conservative versus Liberal does not define us I think was one of your points. Did I miss that also? Does that give either side the right to peg us fully moderates with a broad brush?

Yes I am challenging your ultra conservative stance. And yes I have full comprehension of what I read. You do not get a doctorate without it. Propounding and advocating a point is noble and good. Bashing an opposing view is shortsighted.

Be defensive here, delete or engage. That is your choice but if you do not engage, you paint conservatives intolerant of opposing views even us moderates who vote conservative.

No, that's not the case Eric and I'm sorry that the message did not come through, from your perspective.

Eric Dierker from Spring Valley, CA. U.S.A. on August 07, 2019:

There you go Angie. Trying to peg me into a square and no the message was not well put.

Did I mention being offended Eric? I don't like all of the wedges that are constantly placed between us. Why do you think, the question, "what do white folks want to be called", was posed? For what purpose? Why would a question of this nature be asked in the first place?

Who are you and will the real Eric please stand up! ;)

A B Williams (author) from Central Florida on August 07, 2019:

I'm sorry, it's not a complicated message.

Eric Dierker from Spring Valley, CA. U.S.A. on August 07, 2019:

I did not quite get the part of hyphenation. You mean like Vietnamese-American? And you think that offensive somehow. My wife is that and would never use it. She is Asian American. I don't get your point.

Thank you girlfriend!

I love this! This should definitely be a featured article. It's well written and a message that everyone should take heed to. Couldn't have said it better myself.
