Caring For Mother Earth

Mother Earth

Earth, or Mother Earth as affectionately called is the land on which all humanity lives. It is what provides life for us. The earth provides food, shelter and water which is needed to sustain living. We share the earth with other living things such as plants and animals. All which plays a connected part in the Journey of life. But Mother Earth is not happy as she used to be. We humans have caused her so much pain with our greedy activities which harm her and in return ourselves and other inhabitants of earth. Earth needs someone to take care of her, she needs help. Let us therefore look at ways in which we can help earth.

1. Stop Pollution

Pollution is a number one thing which harms for Mother Earth. Pollution comes in various ways. First there is the illegal dumping of waste material. This waste can be solid or liquid. When waste is not disposed of in the right way, which mitigates from harming the environment, it will end up causing some very nasty end results. This end result can be the spreading of diseases as well as the contamination of the land and water resulting in trees and animals becoming sick and even die. Some uncaring individuals dump toxic waste in rivers and ponds as a quick and cheap way of getting rid of there waste. This practice is illegal and if you know of someone or some company doing this, alert the relevant authorities so they can investigate the matter and put a stop to it.

Whats In That Aerosol?

We use a lot of sprays. From home cleaning agents, air fresheners, insect killers and perfumes. Some of these Aerosols contain some very nasty chemicals which are harmful to the air we breath. It may seem like one family spraying a bug is nothing big, but imagine a billion homes spraying bugs with chemicals which pollute the air. When purchasing aerosols of any sorts. Ensure that it is marked green. This green indicates that it is ozone friendly and may cause minimal no no air pollution. You can also do your own research and make your own bug sprays out of simple ozone friendly products.

2. Help Prevent Forest Fires

Even though it is believed that a lot of forest fires start naturally, that is by lightening strike or extreme temperatures which can cause instant combustion, many fires are started by reckless individuals who have no knowledge or care about the earth and how forest fires are started. Forest fires can start from campers making fire to cook, for heat or for lighting and then not properly outing that fire when leaving the camp site. The wind will carry sparks and those sparks will land just about anywhere in the forest. Those tine sparks then leads to massive fires.

Forest fires can also start when stupid people flick cigar buts out their vehicle windows while driving. This lit cigar sometimes lands on dry shrubs or grass and then the fire dances all the way into the forest wreaking havoc. When the forest begins to burn, it creates massive smoke pollution which damages the ozone. It also causes thousands of animals to loose their homes and some don't even make it our of the fire. You can help care for earth by educating people who camp and anyone else you believe interacts with the forest directly or indirectly.

3. Don't Over Hunt or Fish

Animals play a huge role in the balance of our Eco-system. There is an equation created by Mother Earth which not many people understand. Every living creature is in that equation and that equation equals to a healthy and sustainable world. When we humans decide to hunt and wipe out species of animals, we are destroying the Eco balance of things. Remember that for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. This can be seen where certain fishes which takes care of the coral reefs are either hunted into extinction or eaten by other fishes which may have no interest in the coral reefs. Coral reefs protect coastlines from the damaging effects of wave action and tropical storms. provide habitats and shelter for many marine organisms.

4. Plant a Tree

Plant a tree. This is one of the most important sentences you may ever read. What most people do not know that if we didn't have trees we simply could not inhabit the land. Even if mankind found a way for us to survive without trees, I am sure it would not be free and it would be a very ugly venture. Trees are cut down on a rapid rate more than how they are planted. Most of the trees they cut for lumber takes a very long time to reach that level of maturity. Trees play such a massive role in our eco system. They prevent erosion of the soil, as well as provide a home for a variety of animals. Of critical importance to humans, they also play a major role in producing the oxygen we breathe and cleaning carbon dioxide out of the air.

5. Use Reusable Containers

Single use plastic and non biodegradable containers such as Styrofoam is a big health and pollution hazard. Styrofoam takes at least 500 years to start decompose. That means as we speak the world is littered with these containers. Many of them end up on beaches and in coastlines and causes massive pollution. Use reusable containers or ensure that your meal is served in a biodegradable container. Plastic straws are good, but they too are a environmental hazard. You can also use reusable straws or paper straws.

6. Help Save Energy

Electricity is used everyday. It is needed for lighting and to power electronics. Bulbs and other electrical devices create heat. When not using any electrical devices such as television, fans, air conditions, etc. Ensure that they are turned off. Don't stand in the refrigerator looking around as though it has a path way to Narnia. Get what you want from the fridge quickly and close the fridge door.

7. Save Paper

The more paper you use, the more trees are cut down to facilitate the usage. Those paper plains and boats all come from trees. You can conserve on paper usage by using less paper when possible. Example, use a sponge or cloth to clean up spillage. Use both sides of the paper for writing or typing. Do not use paper as basketballs for your dustpan hoop. Desist from creating origami and other paper items that end up been thrown away after.

8. Keep Your Surroundings Clean

Keep your surroundings nice and clean. If you see garbage floating around your home, even it is not yours, you can clean it up. Caring for earth means having a clean environment.

Ruby, people who kill nature are either down right dumb or simply dont care. But I know Karma is a lady and she and mamma earth are good pals.

Clive, I agree with everyone's comments. It's our job to keep this world beautiful and ask the Lord to help us do that! Great article!

Clive, if we don't take care of Mother Earth, we won't have a home very long. All of your points are necessary. polluting the water, killing animals for fun. When are we going to see the damage we've done. It's not too late. Great article!

Eric Dierker from Spring Valley, CA. U.S.A. on February 20, 2020:

I think I follow all here, progress not perfection. 4,5 & 7 --may be helped by tree farms. I am only growing 2 trees at the moment.

Pamela Oglesby from Sunny Florida on February 20, 2020:

These suggestions are great and not too difficult for anyone to follow. We need to take care of this world.
