Giving Back

Five years ago, I moved from the UK to Ghana, West Africa. It has been a whirlwind of a journey, so many opportunities and so plenty of time to reflect and think about my life purpose. One of my major goals when I arrived in Ghana was to make a difference. In 2017 I set up an initiative called Big Chance to provide opportunities to young women in online media. The initiative has helped more than 65 young women so far and I continue to strive to make change.

Fast forward, pandemic era, Covid-19. Thousands of businesses in Ghana have been impacted as a result of the Coronavirus. Many have had to close their doors for good, some are still struggling to remain afloat in the current climate. A month ago, I decided to set up a fundraiser to encourage people to donate a small sum to help those desperately in need. Especially single mothers who have been left with very little to support their children.

I collaborated with my company Pink Intrigue to raise $10,000, how did I do it?

Social Media

I leveraged social media followers to raise awareness of the fundraiser. Messaging my followers both on my personal account and business account appealing to them to donate a minimum of $1000. It worked, people started donating and within a couple of days, I had raised $5000.

Fund Raising with a Twist

To further encourage people to donate, I offered a cash prize of $2000 to everyone who donated. I gave away, $3000 in prizes as I eventually managed to raise more than $12, 000 to help those struggling as a result of covid 19.

Giving Back

Giving back has changed my overall perspective on life. I feel motivated to continue working hard to raise more money and more awareness to help those in need out here in Ghana.

Giving back has also made me feel more grateful each day for the life that I live. I'm working hard to ensure that I can help as many people as possible.
