Hey Journalists, Your True Colors Are Shining Through

Ignore the in-my-face obvious issues and lend all of my attention to unwarranted, groundless non-issues? Not happening!

In my face, right on cue...

I was in the process of reading a great article about the obvious turn journalism has made since the 2016 Presidential campaign.

In my opinion, the turn has been occurring for some time now, but the last two campaigns really only opened many more eyes to it.

The article I was reading is by Michael Goodwin and is adapted from a 2017 speech of his.

I kid you not, while reading this article...about journalists losing their way, a ‘news story’ came up in my feed...

as if, right on cue!

The story?

The L.A. Times referring to and commenting on the President of the National Rifle Association, Colonel Oliver North, as a “gunrunner.”

Very interesting term and I just had to laugh out loud. We all know that the biggest “gunrunners” around D.C. town are former Attorney General Eric Holder (D) and our former President, Barack Obama (D).

They, with their little gun running ploy, attempting to put guns in a very bad light and doing putting guns right into the hands of Mexican cartels!

A border agent, Brian Terry, paid the price, for their wicked scheming, with his life!

Because today's Journalists will make sure you do not!

Hey, L.A. Times, did you think we’d just forget about ’Fast and Furious’ and those who were behind it?

Ollie North is an American hero, he continues to give back to this Country, he does so much for veterans and shares many amazing stories about true American heroes.

Nice try, but get it straight L.A. Times!

Back to the article...

It centers around the 2016 Presidential campaign and illustrates how Trump was initially seen as a joke and not taken very seriously.

As a result of many magazines and newspapers not taking Trump seriously, he became a novelty to them and they focused all of their attention on him 24-7.

Scroll to Continue

All of which led to Trump's name dominating print and his face on television more regularly than his competition.

As I continued reading, while listening to 'the news', I vehemently agreed with a loud and resounding...yes

I've written about this in the past

I was a Ted Cruz supporter, but Ted was upstaged and overshadowed by the man, the myth, the legend...Donald J. Trump

Journalists were assisting in it; they were {unwittingly} Trump's public relations team

The article goes on to say that when media outlets realized Trump was not a novelty, it wasn't a joke; he was truly in it, to win it, they panicked and they began back-pedaling.

The People were showing up in droves to his rallies and they liked what they heard.

An outsider, a businessman, coming to their defense, understanding their dismay with all things Washington D.C., was such a refreshing change!

Suddenly, almost all at once, the Journalists, News Anchors etc. all realized they had a great big problem on their hands -

Donald J. Trump was in it to win it!

To put it another way...there was a collective gasp of - oh shoot!

A great big backfire was heard which triggered an all out effort to destroy the former novelty; the man, the myth, the legend....Donald J. Trump.

(Puns intended, I have the true "gunrunners" on my mind!)

This was not supposed to happen.

The writers and the reporters had work to do to convince a Nation to now...look away and never mind!

Then began, the steady stream of Trump negatives, bringing up his past, questioning his mental health.

Then began the work to get out the negatives on him, the bringing up of him being a cad about town in the past, (the first apparently) anything to knock him off of the hill, they hand unintentionally, placed him upon!

But, The People have had their number for some time now.

The people have gone through it, witnessing it all firsthand and aren't buying what media outlets {in the tank for the Dem Party} have been selling.

As for me, the once reluctant Trump supporter, I've said it before and I'll never stop saying it:

I love what he did for this Country.

I loved how he always put America and Americans first!

He was in it not only to win it, but was in it for all of the right reasons, as he fought the good fight and powered through the deep state borders and barricades.

No doubt about it, he kept the people in the loop and he got things done!

I was won over and even if I had not been, on principle alone, I would have been behind the man, our former President, because of the obvious, in-our-face bias and in-his-face contempt, displayed 24-7!

Where has Journalism gone?

I, like many others, are just fed up with what has become of journalism and what they, together with the D.C. swamp, did to President Trump.

As a result of their all out effort, if asked, this once very reluctant, always very involved citizen, would have anxiously gone to work on his campaign.

All of the subjective 'reporting' only strengthened my resolve!

All that you all have managed to do, throughout the past few years, is strengthen the resolve of millions of us.

I seriously doubted a win for Democrats in 2018 and 2020, but I was wrong, the deep state somehow managed.

I know that the Trump haters and the Never Trumpers wished it to be so; anyone but Trump, and I know that many so-called Journalists worked their hardest...not at reporting the news, but at ending Trump!

My neck began to ache from nodding emphatically, with the article; laid out and delivered with such professional precision, so very well done!

Journalists heed; take note!

Well done and not just because I was in agreement with Mr. Goodwin's timeline of events, but because he is an objective Journalist.

One that has not lost his way and has managed to remain above the fray.

A consummate professional!

Defining Journalism

Well, you'd think you could look up the word and get a definition!

Not so easy, not today.

In fact, the very first thing that came up in my Google search....'the definition of journalism by different authors’.

It is apparent, there is not only an attempt to revise history, there's an attempt to revise words and their meaning.

I digress.....

I went to my trusted source, my very old American Heritage dictionary, filled with actual pages, words with actual definitions, (there's not a who's who version of words and their meanings, there's not a multiple choice of definitions to those words which only have one meaning)

What a brilliant concept!

I cherish my old books and they'd have to be pried out of my hands, along with my God-given rights laid out in black and white in my multiple copies of the U.S. Constitution and Bill of Rights.

Digressing no longer -

The definition of Journalism:

Free Thinking

I will never forget, as I finished reading the aforementioned article, I kid you not, about to leave for work....a headline on the t.v. grabbed my attention:

"I'm not Black, I'm Kanye"

The article by a so-called Journalist', with The Atlantic, apparently had a big problem with Kanye West speaking about and tweeting about, free thinking, as if, free thinking is a crime!

I never read the article, but just from the title alone, wouldn't you say it's a no-brainer?

Not a stretch, just speculating here, but my guess is that the writer of this article, completely missed the many points Mr. West dared to make:

Suggesting that individuals be their own man, be their own woman and not be beholden to a political party.

Suggesting that we not be afraid to get behind and show support for those whom we, as free thinking individuals, believe are straight shooters.

If I had to venture a guess, the article is a condemnation and a rebuke of the man...Kanye West!

I am not a fan of his music and I do not agree with some of his comments and behavior from the past, but I'd anxiously go work in sales or whatever, at one of his future concerts.

I'd not sing or rap back-up {no one would want to hear that} but in an effort to show my support for him and against what happened to him (as happened to Trump) and how very wrong it was, I'd have his back in a heartbeat!

As I wrapped up this article, the only 'wrapping' I'd be doing, Trump had just made the announcement that the U.S. would be withdrawing from the ‘Iran Nuclear ‘Deal’.

It was a good call!

My “free thinking”, objectivity and common sense told me this, I had no need to look to today’s ‘journalists’ as they'd twist and turn the President’s words, in an effort to create a very different version of what I had just heard!

It is what they do, it is their calling, it is their job to twist words and spin stories to benefit the left! Today's definition of a Journalist!

Thank you Tim, I realize you commented here months ago, but I missed it and as a result, failed to respond.

I read back through the article while here and..... nope , no revisions required. :)

I hope that you are having a fantastic weekend!

Tim Truzy from U.S.A. on May 19, 2018:

You are right, abwilliams, Beck was one of his toughest critics. That's why Rush and Beck can achieve trust with people, if they are wrong, they are the first to say it.

Hey, you have several more articles, I got to catch up with all of your insightful and thoughtful writing. (Yes, and tough when tough is needed.)

Thanks, Abwilliams.

A B Williams (author) from Central Florida on May 19, 2018:

Tim, whether late or right on time, it's always good to 'hear' from you!

Paul Harvey was one of the good ones. I always enjoyed when he would do "The rest of the story...."

Nowadays they are 'making up the stories'. It really is sad.

Anyone that's familiar with Glenn Beck knows it's a very big deal, him putting on that hat, coming to the defense of the President and giving him credit where due.

Tim Truzy from U.S.A. on May 19, 2018:

Excellent, journalists are not as objective as they used to be, if they ever were. But one thing I remember from one of my journalism classes is that "news is not entertainment." Unfortunately, today's group of television anchors are unwilling to let people know when facts may not be exactly correct. (Yes, newspapers, too.)

Now, Rush, who proudly says he is not a journalist, does let the public know when he's having fun. Glen beck does, too. That's important. They encourage people to go look up the facts for themselves. NPR and a few other outlets does that, sometimes, but not enough.

When I was growing up, I used to love to listen to Paul Harvey; he would give you exactly the source of where he got his information.

Now, you have to check out three or four sources, when you can, to get it right; often, you may have to go further.

In the age of social media, facts have become distorted. Loyalty is more important than the actual data. (That's according to a research finding appearing in a science magazine.) Also, it's more important to put the broadcasters "spin" on things as opposed to the facts as they stand.

Great article. As always, just a little late to your party, abwilliams, but it was a great one.
