Some May Be Understanding for the Very First Time; Freedom Is a Beautiful and Fleeting Thing

Ignore the in-my-face obvious issues and lend all of my attention to unwarranted, groundless non-issues? Not happening!

Breathe that Freedom In...

Since first hearing the name Corona virus, I've continued about my business; supporting local business, whenever I am not continuing to work in our own personal business.

Supporting as many local small businesses and not so small businesses, such as restaurants, which we are all familiar with, during the days of take out and curbside dining was imperative!

Restaurant workers count on our support, via our presence, along with substantial never before!

We have seen indoor dining come back, bars reopen, close....come back, but that doesn't mean that we stop investing in them as we have done!

It will take time for them to dig out, we must continue to tip a little extra, go out to dinner a little more often.

In addition to supporting local businesses, I've made trips to the blood bank to donate blood.

Blood always seems to be in short supply as it is and I suspect it is pretty much depleted right about now.

My blood bank is doing COVID-19 screenings, health checks and there's usually an incentive such as a gift card. This shouldn't be reasons to roll up our sleeves and give, but if it gets more people in to give, so be it.

My daughter, grandchildren and I, were all together when all of this began to go down, so we've never isolated from one another.

We've continued to eat together, laugh together and play together, if a sand castle is being built, it is being built, together!

Speaking of my favorite subjects and sand castles; the ocean has been calling my name, often, and I've been receptive to the invite, it has been so amazing!

I will go as often as I can in order to breathe in that heaven sent prescription of sun meets sky, meets sand, meets surf; for me, there is no better cure for body, soul, mind and spirit.

It has been nice having the beach practically to ourselves, it's always nice to have extra elbow room, but, I'm not happy that so many are missing from our beaches and sandy shores.

It deeply saddens me that many of my fellow Americans aren't out participating in their freedom!

We've continued to gather with friends and family, we've continued to visit with our elderly Parents. We've continued to make vacation plans and plans for the upcoming holidays.

Otherwise independent and free thinking individuals have simply been terrified out of their minds by the media.

There are those with health issues and I understand their reluctance in getting back out again, but I wonder, how many could be helped by going outside and soaking up the great outdoors!

If only they weren't primed to live in fear!

Good Life

Heroes and the Zeros

We've all heard the stories of salon owners, barbers, bakers, gym owners...and so many other small businesses/Mom and Pop operations, that have had to find a way to continue to make a living!

They are in states, counties, cities, where they've been shut down/locked down by their elected Democratic officials.

Many, as a result of fighting back, have been fined, have served some time in jail, have had their doors padlocked....we've all heard the stories....

We've heard the stories of parents busted because they've dared to defy, by taking their kids to the beach, to the park, outdoors for fresh air, sunshine and all of those wonderful elements that our bodies so crave and kids must have for health purposes!

Some in media have made them out to be bad people, bad examples, stopping just short of calling it criminal behavior. (although that has probably been done as well, I can only stand so much news at one time and I've probably missed it)

Meantime, many Americans continue to spend their days inside their homes, shut off from the world, other than to post now and then on social media about the horrible people, like these desperate shop owners for example, who refuse to obediently stay home, as they have done/are doing.

I suspect that many of these people keeping themselves in lock down, certainly the ones which always require someone else to take the lead, before they will make their next move...have never before been in business!

They do not understand the weight on the shoulders of a business owner, their responsibility doesn't end at the close of a day or at the end of a work week.

Five o'clock is the hour after 4 o'clock and an hour before 6 o'clock, nothing more....that's just how it is...

Small business owners aren't in the practice of depending on anyone else to bail them out and aren't in the business of expecting a reprieve from their obligations. They certainly appreciate a reprieve of a little more time on an obligation, from time to time, but that's about the extent of it.

I'll go shopping today for some things for my next beach trip (and there will be a next and a next.....) maybe I'll have a patio lunch today or an indoor dining experience this evening at one of my favorite local restaurants, many are beginning to open up for dine in now!

Love it!

I'll return to my local Walgreen's or CVS, as I have continually done since we first heard the news of this.

Maybe I will see how much toilet paper is on the shelves seems to come and go...

I will do a check and see if there is a good solid supply of hand sanitizer...

I guess I will look at it as a return to normalcy, the day I check and the shelves are rich and abundant in toilet paper and hand sanitizer.

I refuse to say, the new normal, that is not acceptable to me!

We need to get back to our normal; business as usual, traffic jams and crowded beaches (ugh...yes, those too!) and we must get back to putting the boom back into our economy!

This will require, all of us actively participating!

This will require, leaving our safety zones and taking the plunge!

It is past the time to take the plunge, we will all end up drowning, if people do not start participating in their freedom!

Some Democratic states, counties, cities haven't gotten back to anywhere close to normal, they've made life miserable for their citizens, for business, in particular small business and now they talk of doubling down in their efforts to lock it down!

Such a big mistake, it will be nearly impossible for them to recover!

I am blessed to live in a State with a Republican Governor and Republican Senate, where we continue to participate in the living of life, while we fully embrace the gift of freedom and where we are trusted to utilize our own God-given common sense.

Naturally, there are a few democratically-run cities and counties within our State and they will keep doing the same things, expecting different results. Typical! They don't think very highly of their constituency nor their God-given common sense, apparently!

Back to participating in my freedom...without a mask!

God Bless America!

What is a 77 year old barber to do? He has been denied unemployment benefits 3 times. He opens up, cuts hair, people come...or they don't! They don't have a straight edge to their necks!

Leave him be Michigan!

Happy to share a little bit of paradise! :)

It's definitely busier here than last weekend. The people are coming back. More shops and restaurants have opened (even for dine in)! It is so good to see!

Makes me want to go to the ocean! On a secluded beach. LOL

Yes, I'm originally from Central Illinois. Champaign-Urbana, specifically Urbana.

Illinois? I know you've told me before. It is just wrong and I hope the people of Illinois(?) or any other State aren't standing for such things.

Shannon Henry from Texas on May 08, 2020:

Yes....the parades and the fireworks. I don't know if it was on a city level or state level, but my mom told me last month that it had been announced already.

A B Williams (author) from Central Florida, USA on May 08, 2020:

Independence Day plans canceled!?! That is two months away and plans have been canceled?

This kind of stuff angers me!

Some Govs keep moving the goal posts, that angers me!!

I will invest in all of the fireworks that I can possibly find between now and our Independence Day and will have the biggest Independence celebration our backyard has ever seen. I challenge EVERYONE , regardless of where you live, to plan to do the same!!!! RED WHITE AND BOOM!

Enough of this stronghold over us and our freedom! It must end.

I love that picture of the soaring eagle, Angie! Here, things are starting to reopen, but my family is in another state. I think they are still under the stay at home rules until at least the end of the month and they had the Fourth of July activities canceled already. It definitely won't instantaneously be back to normal everywhere.

I definitely agree that the media was scaring people even in areas that were never considered hotspots for the virus. I stopped paying attention to it as much. I learned enough to feel like I am informed, but I have yet to wear a mask like other places require for going into public. I'm okay with the social distancing - I've never liked being boxed in by strangers in a crowd anyway. Honestly, my life hasn't changed all that much by this thing. But I can still see the ripple effect of the economy, as you know.

When I was doing some research for an article a few years back, I kept coming up with a certain number.

This is the number of people who wanted to cut all ties with England and fight to live as free men, in America.

I thought...can't be that low!

Not all necessarily wanted to live under British rule, they were neutral, probably itching for freedom, just counting on others to make it happen.

Just an observation!

I hope the percentage is much higher these days....some days, it's hard to say.

Thanks for stopping by Kyler.

Heck yes, now is the time for civil disobedience!

It is good to see people coming to their senses at a faster and faster pace, because all of this feels as if there is a shady motive behind it, like they are testing how deep they can dig their fingers into the mud of authoritarian control.

We can be safe and free at the same time! Keep our rights where they belong, because anyone who practices safe behavior won't be an issue anyways!
