What Have We Learned From History

So Far, We Are Afraid We Have Not...

At certain point in History, or Prehistory, man started to think deeply and made decisions on his own. Civilization was born gradually and rules, the way lawyers loved it, were set for individuals as our ancestors and their clans and tribes. But, as far as we were concerned, we have failed completely in learning from past mistakes and all those erratum humanus cast a spell in our society. The worst thing is that we know(this very minute) that we are making the same mistakes, but, we think that we can get away with it.

What I have seen with my own eyes is the lack of morals, from Politicians, to Financial 'big shots' from Wall St. They might've have studied the fall of the Roman Empire, if they claimed they read from the past to understand the present? How could we have fallen for that weapons of mass destruction assertion, that drove our young generations to war? Maybe the Armament dealers had to send their kids to college? How is that The 'Senatorum' from A.D.45 is not really different from what we see on TV? Same hair style, and arrogance. Hail Caesar!

Examples of repetitive mistakes

From Marc Antony to Zpitzer and back to Clinton... We as hominids, keep looking for that extra 'carnivorous' affair. Form Kobey Briant to Leonardo Da Vinci's dad, unfaithfulness has been accepted behind those sinful doors. And we don't seem to learn.

From Jamestown to Korea, and back to 1899. The U.S. has been on war more that the Romans or the 300 Spartans. And now who is next? Syria?. Would you rather have a job, or pay with your taxes for that F-16, that can cost millions. Where is the sense in all this? Our security? Going to Afghanistan and Iraq, just to keep these guys from 'Blackwater,' right on target and out of job?

It's been around forever, and will be around until it gets fed down to the core of our passion for money. Like we said before, greed keeps Capitalism afloat, but doesn't go hand in hand with morality. The richer gets richer, and the poor... has to keep his job. We cannot imagine a world without greediness anyways.

Like the Mayans found out. There is a cycle to be meet and get ready for the changes.

What we really see nowadays is the closing of a cycle: Some might say, History is just a waste of time, ' what we learned is not even followed,' and if we want to change our attitude, we get psychologically bullied. So either you support your party, or you don't belong in there. You know you gotta feed your family, so you just go with the flow. If Whitney Houston sang the National Anthem, we all were as one back in 1991, but as soon as we knew we couldn't support the other party, we just polarized our efforts and attention. Back in A.D. 45 you had enough balls to get rid of and opposite band, as the Caesar. Today, you just join this public relations scam... and try to find the lover, the out of wedlock child and support the lobbists that put you in Power. Errors in the system, give Casey Anthony, the freedom, she cried for. The grammy's praises this Chris Brown, and mentally leaves Rihanna with that double standard message.

We do not pretend to send a negative message in here. We just vented some rant mixing History with everyday events. Some examples might appeal to our fellow readers and for others might just sound superfluous, but what we wrote is what we felt in our hearts. We know, and we have hope in our Nation, but it will take more than a village to make the change. The education system has suffered since the early seventies. Most Engineers at NASA, has to be recruited from Delhi, Ankara or Eastern Europe. An we as a nation, that was created 230 years, deserve better...for the sake of our new generations.

"Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired, signifies in the final sense a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and are not clothed."
Dwight D. Eisenhower

"There is evil in war, but the worst evil is just letting it happen."

You said better than me. Is sad but true. Teens live attached to the latest trendy Iphone, and that love for texting... they wish a cat would drive itself so they won't have to drive...while texting the latest gossip! Sorry to confirm your fears!

DREAM ON on April 13, 2012:

So much knowledge and information to understand. You explain and list the many problems that we face.Unfortunately the children of today see it a different way. They are concerned with their own world and can't see the big picture. If it isn't on their cell phone they don't care. They are selfish and lazy and just care about today. They feel let someone else worry about tomorrow.I can't speak for every teenager only ones that I have seen. Please tell me I am wrong dead wrong.I may not know the answer to many things but I can keep an open mind and have ideas how to make this world better. The teenagers that I have seen(the future of the world )don't even try. They give up and quit. They take the easy way out. They think they know it all.I don't remember ever being so short sighted.Just a few points that I thought when I was reading your great hub.If they have to read more than a few lines they get bored.Maybe because everything today is instant.Just add water and mix. They got handed life on a silver platter.Paper will never do.Life is complicated and there are many sides and issues to everything. If we work together it is a start to make this life a little better. Thanks for opening my eyes.Have a great day.

I Support your view and the way you see it. Enough was enough for many of us. This is a global problem, that will require a world solution. Powers will look after themselves, meaning, we will head right into te pit of those Tribulations, announced over and over in the Scriptures. I guess the sign of the times are here...

Dave Mathews from NORTH YORK,ONTARIO,CANADA on February 20, 2012:

lord de cross: As I was reading your comment it reminded me of an adage I apply in my life.

I tell others:

"I have never made a mistake in my life, BUT, I have made lots of errors, the difference being that "Errors are erasible."

One can be in error and correct it but a mistake is often difficult to correct or change.

If and when God gets angry enough to say enough is enough, that day we will be called home just before the 7 years of the Great Tribulation. Hopefully the children will be called to so that they will not face the destruction and devastation that is to come at that time.

Joseph De Cross (author) from New York on February 20, 2012:

Hi Eddy and Dave,

The true is out there. Sorry to put it this way, but the mistakes are bigger than the assertions. I feel sorry for my own kids, becuase they will be here to see the outcome. Errors can be forgiven, but mistakes that can affect generations, that's when we think about, how can we stop it...or is it too late? Are we on top of this avalanche that goes down into destruction? Ask your kids, how they feel; all they will do for sure shrug themsleves and go back to their texting. They had a nice Christmas so far. But the danger of our demise is out there.

Dave Mathews from NORTH YORK,ONTARIO,CANADA on February 20, 2012:

lord de cross: So long as any nation can be seen by the rest of the world as well as by its own people as being prosperous and growing there is room for error.

Rome thought itself the most powerful of nations back in caesar's time, it ruled over the known world. But Rome fell.

This hub so interesting;we learn each and every day and look at things form a different perspective and I doubt that this will never grind to a halt.

Thanks for this hub which leaves much food for thought.

Take care and enjoy your day.

Your voice is from the Country. You are not alone in this. There have been friends in here that have shared their financial problems with me, and I felt so sorry for them. Like mary said, it really boils my heart and makes me sick. This Land gave numerous wise thinkers and Inventors to the World. China is that Giant that is waiting for the best moment to tell us, "...where is my money?" They way things go. Pretty soon Bush and his kids will have to move out of Texas and probably out of the Country. There is people living on dollar's menues everyday...and they know I know! It breaks my heart seeing mothers and kids with hopes on a better education and perhaps a better living, but until then, we will see...

Barbara Purvis Hunter from Florida on February 19, 2012:

Our two parties and Congress are living on the tit of society----and the cash cow is dry. But these arrogant people whom we have placed in the positions to make this a better world for the American people are asinine fools.

Who keep on taking and spending and borrowing from China----and China will try the biggest takeover of our country one day---if the One World Government doesn’t do it first.

These non-thinkers who only think of themselves are in Washington taking everything they can while it is there to take.

After 230 years of our ancestors fighting and dying for the land of the free, will be the land of the One World Government---unless, someone in Washington wakes up---if it is not too late.

And that is all from the “Mouth of the South” until the next time.

There are things that will never be the same. Sad but true. The system is corroded and we just try to make our point. There is a new wave of unhapiness among our young..and when our Government just says, "give them cake if they are hungry," then the cycle is coming to an unstopable end. As a society we must join the majority and get rid of the few that are amassing fortunes as we speak. There is so much to do, but it will take a comunnitary effort similar to what the Thirteen colonies did, back in 1775. Thanks for commenting Mary.

Mary Hyatt from Florida on February 19, 2012:

Dear Lord, you have the courage and the knowledge to tell the truth! I learned some new things from this Hub, and I've known for a long time some of the things, and like you, it makes my blood boil. So, what can we do as a society make things better??

Joseph De Cross (author) from New York on February 19, 2012:

Me neither pickles&rufus,

Unfortunately, there are connections that are hurting our Nation: Money Laudering and Banks being bailed out, at our 'expense.' No wonder there has to be cuts for our Postal service and Teachers. Hope to see changes around election day.

picklesandrufus from Virginia Beach, Va on February 19, 2012:

I couldn't have said it better myself Lord. We are still writing the script and my hope is for a better day....people are waking up and starting to voice their opinions....hope it is not too late.

Joseph De Cross (author) from New York on February 18, 2012:

Good evening Debbie,

Our education system is way behind some third world countries. We have to recruit Engineers from abroad to keep the space program going. Same as we bring Nurses from Philippines to keep up with our baby bommers, who are entering those sweet sixties..! Thnaks for stopping by Debbie!

Joseph De Cross (author) from New York on February 18, 2012:

You are showing that knowledge in just a few word. Comparing Bush with the Borgias, is like bringing the whore from Babilonia to the doors of our Congress, and that could have been happening for quite a long time. Have a nice one!

Joseph De Cross (author) from New York on February 18, 2012:

Thanks Perspycacious for those insightful words. Your political opinions have a strong base, which is a powerful one. We are also true to our principles. You have said it quite right. Occupy Wall St. is just the tip of this Icerberg... and shame that so many talented people are left in the cold. Thanks so much for your thoughtful opinion.

Deborah Brooks Langford from Brownsville,TX on February 18, 2012:

Mr Lord wow excellent reading here.. people do not remember the past. i did not know that Engineers at NASA, has to be recruited from Delhi, Ankara or Eastern Europe. An we as a nation, .. thanks for sharing this information.

Not a long ago, a cabal got rid of Kennedy! Wasn't Kennedy, the Cesar of 1963? Is there a difference between the Borgia and the Bush?

Demas W Jasper from Today's America and The World Beyond on February 18, 2012:

We have an orator. We have industries which have grown fat on over-priced overruns. We have a non-functioning Congress which can't be forced to work because they make their own rules. We have an empty Treasury and laws designed to protect the do-nothings, while the know-it-alls spending their lives milking the failed systems of taxes and personal finances speculating on futures which drive up prices beyond the needs of the average man and woman, schools which are failing teachers and students, "for profit colleges" turning out partially educated elites determined to get theirs while the getting is good. No, we are not headed to the abyss. We are in it.
