Is America Usa a Democratic System or a Dictatorship in 2022?

Barbara, believes we need to have a check and balance system with Congress. People voted into Congress are not for Americans

2020 Update 2022 update

2022--I f you read the 2013 article below this update you will see Congress and our leaders are in the same whirling pool of jumping into war with another country. We are not the world police. Help our country America USA first. Congress will send billions to other countries when Americans cannot buy food to put on their table. We keep hearing about a fourth stimulus check, but we have not received one and it is desperately needed. Americans were shut-ins for almost two years because of Covid-19.

Now, we are hearing of a food shortage and to stock up--how can we stock up when we do not have any extra money to do so. Gas prices is out of sight and every day at the food store prices keep going up.

People need gas to commute to work. People who do not work cannot afford to buy gas to go get food they cannot afford.

Americans have been abused and ignored by Congress. How could this happen? Where is the help we need? We will remember all the empty promises of a fourth stimulus check and the abuse from our government leaders.

2020--I wrote this article seven (7) years ago when our country was more peaceful on our shores of United States of America. Our country is in a crisis now with groups looting, destroying, burning down businesses in cities like Chicago. The leaders of these cities do not protect the people and have tied the hands of the police officers who do. Our world is completely at a point of no return unless our President Donald Trump is voted back into office.

If the Democrats win our beautiful world will be in chaos. This will be the end--I am afraid. Many are saying we will have a Civil War here in America--I pray not.

Did Our Ancestors Just Turn Over in their Graves? Written in 2013

Is there a pill to give our misguided leaders to make their thinking process well? Who in Congress has voted to give the rebels aid? Who are these rebels; maybe our Al-Qaeda enemies? Is it conceivable Syrians citizens are the rebels that are fighting in their civil war?

We need negotiators with vast experience and non-failed track records. And, before we run off half-cocked, we need to reconsider becoming involved in another country's civil war.

Who Appointed Us World Police? Written in 2013

We are still in a war that I doubt we helped the citizens much; because it is plain, they wanted us out of their country initially. There are so many playing America just to get money; and then killing our men and women who left America to help these people.

Who appointed the USA as "World Police?" I did not vote on it and neither did any other Americans. Our leaders cannot control our own Social Security Administration, must less another country and their war between their people. I am serious when I ask: Do we have any Congress members who are working for the people of the United States?

United States Congress Seal

No One is Held Accountable--Written in 2013

Some in Congress are still harping on ‘Gun Control' in our country but are sending weapons to the rebels in other countries. What is wrong with that picture?

We need to take care of business at home first and solve all the problems of a run-away government whose different agencies spend money like water with no accountability. And, when caught, no one's held accountable?

Congress makes a big deal out of investigating and pointing fingers, which in essence one finger is pointing to the accusers and three back to them. Congress is just as much at fault for not having control over the taxpayer's money and where it goes.

If they ran the country like a business, it would be easy to audit each agency with a profit and loss statement. Congress' accountability for taxpayers' money would be well-defined as they are the fiduciary; or have they become something else? Other countries that once respected the United States are now laughing at us or shaking their heads.

America is Constantly in War

America is Constantly in War

Our Country is Still Young--Written in 2013

Our country is still young at 237 years old if you are counting from 1776, or from 1783 when England acknowledged us. And being a young country, it needs nourishment and encouraged like a young child.

Scroll to Continue

We all know this has not happened, instead it suffered abuse with wars, foolish spending, broken bridges, bad highways, laws and favors hidden in bill passed, Democrats and Republicans not communicating or working together, attacked on our homeland on 9/11/2001 after the agency that received the information and did nothing to protect us, children in our country going to bed hungry, neglected and abused because of the war on drugs in our country, Hurricane Katina and how helplessly we watched as the people in New Orleans waited for the leaders to come to their aid, health insurance that will impose more stress than good, leaders of other countries making more sense than our own, bankruptcy which Americans paid for big business, foreclosures on the unemployed of over 25 millions of Americans, Outsourcing American jobs to overseas by the American companies we supported and help built, and the list goes on.

Leaders of Other Countries --Written in 2013

Leaders of other countries are making more sense now than our own. My ancestors fought in all the wars to settle a new land, I even have two Indian Chiefs in my family tree. We fought our own Civil War which had good and bad results.

So what kind of report card grade should we give ourselves? What makes Congress or our President think shooting among the people in Syria will solve the issue? It will create a war and not only will boots be on the ground, but it will flow with the blood of Americans and Syrians. How asinine is this concept of thinking?

Our Precious SEALS--Written in 2013

Our own Vice President whether a slip of the tongue or not; put targets on our Navy SEALS backs by letting the world know they were the one who assassinated Osama bin Laden the leader of Al-Qaeda.

As soon as it happened the SEALS called their families to warn them to erase all the information and photos on Face Book or any social media to protect them.

The SEALS knew their positions and missions became monitored and they would be the next targets and they were and still remain in jeopardy.

So many deaths from the slip of the tongue or were our SEALS sacrificed. I do not trust anyone in power with any knowledge of our SEALS and their missions.

Hi poetryman6969,

You never know who is legal and illegal in our country anymore. It might be a good idea to begin checking out Congress---it sounds like we may need to send some of them across the ocean or back to what country they came.

Have a great weekend.

poetryman6969 on February 06, 2015:

I think people should not get to pick and choose which laws to breaks as illegal immigrants do. I cannot go to other countries and have a "right to work."

Barbara Purvis Hunter (author) from Florida on October 25, 2014:

Hi AudreyHowitt,

I hope your weekend is great and I am happy you visited and took time to comment. Our government gets on my last nerve sometimes, but I am not walking in their shoes.

Audrey Howitt from California on October 25, 2014:

You raise interesting questions Bobbi! Our imperialistic policies hurt everyone I think

Barbara Purvis Hunter (author) from Florida on August 15, 2014:

Hi motometer,

It is great to see you again.

I suppose we will continue to feed the zoo animals until we vote them out. It reminds me of when I worked for a large cooperation and each time a new manager took over our department we said: He (because they were too insecure to put a woman in the position) can't be any worse than the last one. But sometimes we were wrong.

Our government needs a clean sweep---take out the trash. Not everyone in Congress is greedy and for self only---but I would hate to be the one to decide who remained and who was kicked out.

Micheal from United Kingdom on August 15, 2014:

It sure is a huge mess Bobbi.

Who is who in the zoo? nobody knows anymore.

Barbara Purvis Hunter (author) from Florida on June 21, 2014:

The problem is simple..America's own creatures which were created in the 70's and 80's have now grown stronger and have come back to bite them in the arse .... You should actually watch the documentary by Australian journalist John Pilger called 'War on Democracy' .. it will make complete sense and perfectly compliment the message in your hub here..

Barbara Purvis Hunter (author) from Florida on May 12, 2014:

Hi wba108,

Thanks for your visit and comment. I agree with you that we need better negotiators with successful track records. And, it make me sick when President Obama apologized for America. I still do not understand it.

Have a great week.

Bobbi Purvis from upstate, NY on May 12, 2014:

"We need negotiators with vast experience and non-failed track records. And, before we run off half-cocked we need to reconsider becoming involved in another country's civil war."

It seem's the Obama administration is trying to weaken our position in the world because he feels America is too big for it's britches. John Kerry and Obama seems to think if we're nice and disarm that Iran and North Korea will do likewise.

No wonder Al -Qaeda feels it can launch an attack on our embassy. We sat around knowing the threat months beforehand and did nothing for political purposes. Obama goes around the world apologizing for America, no wonder they these two bit terrorists and dictators think they can provoke us.

Barbara Purvis Hunter (author) from Florida on May 12, 2014:

Thanks and have a great week.

manatita44 from london on May 11, 2014:

I commend you for your loving response. Much peace.

Barbara Purvis Hunter (author) from Florida on May 11, 2014:

Thanks for the reply and it does make me feel better to know others are thinking of our country---just like we think about people from other countries and pray for them in their times of distress what ever it may be. I pray for a more peaceful world for the future of all our children.

Bobbi Purvis

manatita44 from london on May 11, 2014:

Yes, Bobbi.

There is always a higher plan. America is dynamic and large-hearted in spite of all its failings. As such the inner forces will ultimately win. Many great men and women have descended from above and played their roles. Things seem dark at times, yes, but ultimately Light will win.

The Divine needs some as co-workers to manifest His peace. Love ultimately triumph. Let us pray. Loving thoughts this Mothering Sunday. Shalom.

Barbara Purvis Hunter (author) from Florida on May 11, 2014:

Hi manatira44,

Thanks for your visit and your great reply. President Lincoln was my favorite president of all time. And, I ask myself---where has all the great leaders gone in the USA. Maybe one will appear as out next president---one can only hope and pray.

Bobbi Purvis

manatita44 from london on May 11, 2014:

Hard to answer here, Purvis, but I hear you.

I share your grievance if nothing else. War starts in the minds of man for reasons of selfishness and ego ... very complex issues here.

We need great Spirits .. Thomas Jefferson, Abe Lincoln .. they played their parts well. We need more. Let us pray and send out Mehta (Loving kindness), to victims and perpetrators alike. Peace.

Deepest love.

Barbara Purvis Hunter (author) from Florida on April 04, 2014:

Hi stuff4kids,

You have my vote and great respect for someone who thinks as I do and many others. Maybe if people had spoken out then like we do today, things might be different for them. It always goes back to greed, money and power; and it is never enough for some.

Thanks for your visit and comment.

Amanda Littlejohn on April 04, 2014:

Our nation was the result of nothing short of a murderous invasion, the near genocide of the First Nations people, land-theft by force and then built on the back of African slaves.

That does not qualify us to be the policeman of the world.

We need first to honor the Indian Treaties made in the 1800s. Then we need to ensure real equality of opportunity and rights for everyone at home; red, black, yellow, white. We need to eradicate homelessness and poverty and use our resources to raise us up with universal education and healthcare.

In my humble opinion.

Barbara Purvis Hunter (author) from Florida on February 08, 2014:

Hi Natasha Peters,

Thanks for the visit and your comments. Our world grows smaller and it is always nice to hear from others point of views--- from other countries. I sounds like you could write an amazing hub about yours.

Bobbi Purvis

Natasha Peters on February 07, 2014:

Interesting article. Though, I'm starting to waver on my beliefs about "we should protect our own country first". After all, why should our compassion or interests stop at a border? No matter what country someone is from, they're still a person. Why do they matter less than our own countrymen/women?

But anyway, I enjoyed reading your ideas and arguments. It's great food for thought.

Several years ago, a Christian woman shared in a forum what the Holy Spirit showed her: there would be revolutions in the Middle East. People would overthrow their governments. But, in exchange, they would get much worse, and regret it. All of it, she saw, would be initiated by wicked men.

That is who runs America now: an evil mafia. W. Bush and Obama both started wars on March 19th. That date is the day to honor Minerva, goddess of war. Bush, Cheney, and Obama are cousins. The same bloodline has been running this country from the very beginning.

Barbara Purvis Hunter (author) from Florida on January 17, 2014:

Voted "yes" in your poll (a no-brainer) and vote a big thumbs up on this excellent article. I get physically sick every time money is spent on wars and other non-sense when we have so many problems right here at home.

What is happening to America? You have voiced exactly my own feelings with this marvelous hub Bobbi.

Wanna run for President? You've go my vote!

Carlo Giovannetti from Puerto Rico on September 18, 2013:

Just some random points since I'm not familiar with the situation in Nepal, so this is not necessarily addressed at Vinaya's post... but being a king doesn't make you a dictator, and a republic isn't the opposite of a democracy nor is it necessarily a bad thing... and democracy isn't the perfect form of government that some people think it is. Democracy can be wrong when the leaders make it wrong.

There are countless examples of all kinds of government, from monarchies to democracies, failing and succeeding; so the problem isn't with the form of government but with the people leading it. Also, the fact that democracy might've worked in a specific country doesn't mean that it will work on every country.

Barbara Purvis Hunter (author) from Florida on September 17, 2013:

Hi Vinaya,

Thanks for your visit and comment. Sometimes, our leaders do not use the best judgment.

About ten years ago, in my country, the king, in the name of democracy, ousted the elected prime minister. Now the country is a republic.

Dictators seek power in the name of democracy making people think democracy itself is wrong.

Bobbi, great points and perspectives. I never thought about being a "young country" in that manner, that's a good point. At this day and age, people should know right from wrong. With social media as it is, there's dozens of ways to get things done or at the least, get information out to the public. We do need to worry about home more, we have problems here. Personally, I believe their own citizens need to take action(Syria). It just blows my mind that many of these countries believe what they do. Voted up, useful, awesome, interesting, and shared in FB.

Barbara Purvis Hunter (author) from Florida on September 15, 2013:

James Flynn from Edinburgh on September 15, 2013:

I'd go as far as saying that Democracy IS the new dictatorship - we are all so damn comfy in the west and politicians are all so much the same that nobody cares anymore who gets into power. It beggars belief that the USA and Russia are the two so called super powers that determine who lives or dies - what God given right do they, or the Asad's of the world have to decide this?

The Syrian people should vote with their feet and either revolt in their millions or leave the country until the despot is disposed or dead.

Rant over :-)

Becky Katz from Hereford, AZ on September 14, 2013:

Well done and reasoned rant Bobbi. I wonder what the heck they are thinking when they just start another war. I do not think they care whether we are giving weapons to Al Qaeda, as long as they do not identify the rebels. I think the original rebels are all gone and Al Qaeda has taken over the job. It is time to stop worrying about policing the world and time to get the U.S. back on it's stumbling feet.

Suhail Zubaid aka Clark Kent from Mississauga, ON on September 14, 2013:

Excellent article Bobbi!

If the USA had taken care of its own citizens first then people like me would not be finding job in Canada while still longing to be back home in the USA.

My own thing is that we should always encourage democracy, non-intervention in foreign countries, and fare and just treatment to all. We can't be ready to attack a country because we "believe" it has weapons of mass destruction, yet allowing another country in the neighbourhood to secretly have all those weapons.

Thank you very much for sharing your thoughts.

Don A. Hoglund from Wisconsin Rapids on September 14, 2013:

You've expressed much of my own thinking and feelings. There is a reason government should be kept as small as possible. Big enough to get the necessary things done, small enough that we can keep track of it. sharing

Bravo .. Very great write Bobbi .. this whole write pains me for it contains what many Americans feel ... Our country is in trouble .. the politicians need to see what we have done here in pueblo, Colorado and Colorado Springs , Colorado ...recalled our legislators that refused to listen to the people .. Democrats in Colorado are now very afraid .. !!!

WE the People ... recalled these out of control Senators .. it was not about Guns as the mainstream media is painting it .. it was local because they refused to listen to what the people wanted .!

America we can do this .. if your local legislator doesn't listen ..BOOT HIM OUT!

WE THE PEOPLE .... they work for you ...!!!!

Lot of ironies in US history...

It praises democracy and condemns dictatorship, and yet they've supported and/or placed in power countless ruthless dictators, from Fulgencio Batista in Cuba to Pinochet in Chile, and Mubarak in Egypt.

It acts as the nuclear and chemical watchdog of the world and yet they probably have the biggest stockpile of nuclear and chemical weapons in the world, along Russia.

It urges countries not to use nuclear and chemical weapons, and yet they have been the only country to ever use not one, but two bombs on civilians.

A huge Amen to you, Bobbi! We need to protect and fix the people of our own country before butting our noses in the business of others. Let them fight their own battles. If we don't quit minding other countries' business, we're liable to have a war on our own turf. We're already at war. Our country is no longer For the People, By the People. We're broken. Let's spend our time and resources on fixing the US.
