Gov. Greg Abbott Says Beto O'Rourke has Socialist Agenda

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott said Beto O'Rourke has a socialist agenda he will impose on the Lone Star State if elected governor. Abbott made this and other comments at the Medders home in the governor's hometown of Wichita Falls, Tex. Tuesday, Dec. 7.

Abbott Says 'Gaping Divide' Between Democrats and Republicans Beliefs

In distinguishing between the philosophies of Republicans and Democrats, Gov. Abbott said there is a "gaping divide." Abbott explained the difference by saying he and other Republicans believe America is the greatest country in the world.

The Democrats on the other hand are pushing a socialist agenda and want to push their socialism on America and Texas, according to the governor..

Gov. Abbott Says Beto Promised to Take People's Guns

Gov. Abbott is running for re-election to a third term as governor of Texas as a Republican. Beto O'Rourke is running as the Democratic candidate for governor. Gov. Abbott mentioned that O'Rourke has promised to seize the guns of citizens.

Abbott said that when O'Rourke ran for president he said, "Hell, yes, I'm going to take your guns."

The Texas governor mentioned that the Second Amendment protected the right of Americans to bear arms. "As long as I am governor we will have the right to bear arms in Texas."

Gov. Abbott Says Beto O'Rourke, Joe Biden and Alexandria-O'Casio-Cortez Favor Socialislm

Gov. Abbott further pointed out to the crowd that packed the Medders House of the similarities of the beliefs of Joe Biden, Alexandria-O'Casio-Cortez and Beto O'Rourke, saying, "All three want to re-design America into a socialist state."

Beto O'Rourke Promised to Take Guns During Presidential Campaign

Gov. Abbot further said this is O'Rourke's third campaign including running against Senator Ted Cruz, then for president and now for governor. O'Rourke made the promise to seize citizens' guns during his run for the White House.

Gov. Abbott said he didn't believe "Beto's promise to seize guns would go over well in Wichita County or the State of Texas.

Democratic Party 'Shift'

Gov. Abbott also mentioned the Democratic Party has made a leftward shift. The governor said Democrats started calling themselves liberals, then progressives and now socialists.

Gov. Abbott Made Several Stops in Wichita Falls

Gov. Abbott's speech at the Medders Mansion Tuesday evening (Dec. 7) was his third stop of the day in his hometown. Earlier, he addressed the Wichita County Women's Republican Party luncheon at the Forum. He was hosted by Lee Ann Haines, the incoming president of the organization, and her law partner Cyndi Schenk.

A large crowd packed the forum to hear his remarks including Texas State Senator Drew Stringer, who also attended the meeting at the Medders Mansion.

Bryant and Betsy Medders made their spacious home available for the event.

Gov. Abbott also Appeared at Sheppard Air Force Base

The governor also appeared at Sheppard Air Force Base during his busy day in Wichita Falls.The goal of his meeting at SAFB was to assess the current state of bases in the state.

For the native of Wichita Falls, it was a nostalgic trip to the past. Gov. Abbott said, "When I grew up here,, my parents would bring me out to Sheppard Air Force Base and we'd watch the planes take off and land. and it was very inspirational and motivational to get to see how the air force works."

Gov. Abbott Discusses Importance of SAFB

Gov. Abbott stressed the significance of SAFB, saying, "So we talked about their access to 5G so they can be better capable of dealing with cyber security, artificial intelligence, etc., but also 6G."

Significance of NATO at SAFB

The governor emphasized the importance of NATO to SAFB's future. Sheppard is the major base that trains NATO pilots. Because of the unique weather patterns in North Texas, SAFB provides the most days available for the training of NATO pilots.

Gov. Abbott Sees Expansion for SAFB

Gov. Abbott further said, "One of my missions going forward will be to work with both the state of Texas and federal government that as the USAF expands its bases that Sheppard Air Force Base will be one of those bases for expansion."

Gov. Abbott Criticizes President Joe Biden's and Beto O'Rourke's Open Border Policies

Gov. Abbott further criticized President Joe Biden's and Beto O'Rourke's Open Borders philosophy. He said, "Over 1,000,000 illegal immigrants have crossed the border into Texas as a result of Biden's policies."

He also said, "Biden has done nothing to protect the border. As a result Texas is stepping up to do the federal government's job."

Gov. Greg Abbott's Border Wall

Gov. Abbott also said, "I signed the paperwork in June. The wall is going up in the next three weeks. There's property in Starr County which is owned by the State of Texas."

He further said many landowners along the border have been so damaged by the illegal invasion across the border that they've been eager to make their property available."

Critical Race Theory Embodies Socialism

Critical Race Theory was criticized by the governor as being one of the core elements of socialism. He said, "Critical Race Theory tries to divide people according to race. Martin Luther King said people should not be judged by the color of their skin but by content of their character."

CRT Banned

Abbott said he was astonished to discover Critical Race Theory was being taught in Texas schools, saying, "Someone handed me some Texas textbooks which contained CRT. I thought probably places like California, but not Texas."

Abbott reacted immediately, seeing that teaching of CRT is now banned from being taught in all Texas schools from kindergarten to high school."

Crowds Pack Venues for Gov. Abbott

Crowds filled all the venues in which the governor spoke. Introduced at the events were local officials District Attorney John Gillespie, Judges Charles Barnard, Gary Butler, Meredith Kennedy, Greg King Jeff McKnight and Sheriff David Duke in addition to Senator Drew Springer. Former Judge Barney Fudge was also introduced. Since retiring as judge, Fudge has returned to private practice.

New Jobs

"For 17 years Texas has been the No. 1 state for jobs," Abbott said. "People from other states come here for work."

Texas Booming Economy

Gov. Abbott further mentioned the Texas economy was larger than that of Russia which he said "made him more powerful than Vladimir Putin." Texas is the ninth largest economy in the world putting it also ahead of Brazil, Canada, Mexico and South Korea.

In 2020, Amazon, CBRE, Tesla, HP anad Oracle moved to or expanded their businesses to Texas.


General Election In November

The general election for governor will be held in November of 2021. Abbott warned that O'Rourke raised $80 million in his race against Ted Cruz for Senator. He estimated the Democrat will raise more than that for the governor's race.
