For Christ Sake, the Library is Not a Slaughterhouse
Wake up good people and smell the coffee. Many of you have been gallivanting these hippy nightclubs to a point that you shun away from knowledge. Why on earth are people so afraid to visit the library?
Seriously, this is no joke. I have seen how people react to books as if they have met their worst nightmare by far.
It beats me how people are able to visit the zoo with their children or go bungee jumping in a split second, but when it comes to the appreciation of literature- they will hesitate like crazy. Something is not right here.
Trust me when I say that I am not looking for someone to point a finger at or shift the blame if you may call it. I just find it odd that most people hate books so much.
How can we even think of blaming it on the schools?
First and foremost: schools are specifically there to shift your enthusiasm to books. Okay, some may argue and say that the books that were prescribed for them were too ancient for their understanding.
Certainly, I agree because I also disliked literature that I barely could understand. The beauty in our subject matter is that libraries provide a variety of options. You can always shift your attention to what appeals to you.
So many genres that one can find in the library. It’s almost like when you go to a retail store to select clothing items of your own.
We should not observe the library with a cautious eye. I mean anyone is welcome to go there. The staff that work inside are one of the most intelligent minds that I know. Sometimes, we are busy looking for answers or advice when all we need to do- is just take a break or two and visit the library.
Good heavens, I am even shocked that I have to explain to you that libraries is not where you will find meat hanging like an abattoir.
Here is a place that is like a sanctuary. If you afraid to meet other fellow human beings from different races, you could always take the first step by going to the library and engrossing yourself to their culture.
I am not telling you that you should stop going clubbing but at least visit the library once a while every month or so. You will not be hijacked, pick-pocketed or even sent away to the dogs for that matter.
Stop fearing or staring at the library like it’s a haunted house. The more you do that- the more you lose out on the opportunity of learning a great deal in life and acquiring outstanding knowledge.
