President Trump vs Vice Pres. Biden: Twitter Edition

Researching facts to make sure the public is properly informed and the information is easily understood.

Left: Donald Trump Right: Joe Biden

Left: Donald Trump Right: Joe Biden

Being the President of America is a huge job. Watching how candidates react during debates, towards each other, and towards American citizens will help determine the type of leader America will have. Twitter is one of the most used social platforms to date. Keeping up with candidates through their social media accounts can give people a better ideal of who these candidates are, rather getting your information from biased media sources. Fact checking information you see directly from candidates will also help decide who can be better trusted. Integrity is very important when running a country.

Columbus Day

Columbus Day has long been an area on controversy. According to History.com, Columbus forced the natives into slavery and was later accused of using torture as a form of punishment during his time as Governor. This didn't set well with many Americans. Around the 90s, Columbus Day started being replaced with holidays that represented the natives. It is still recognized as a Federal Holiday, however.

Biden seems to openly support Indigenous People's Day. He expresses how him and his wife are happy to celebrate with Native communities and all Americans.

Trump seems to be a tad more against the idea and voices his support for Columbus Day instead. He appears to push the idea that the Radical Left are trying to undermine the Christopher Columbus legacy.

Addressing Your Opponent

As with any major promotion, it's common to want to express why you are more qualified for the position than those you happen to be competing with. Sometimes it can turn into expressing why your competition is less qualified.

These are usually the type of comments you would want to fact check. Sometimes qualifications can be exaggerated as well as accusations against an opponent.

President Trump believes former Vice President Biden wants to kill jobs, dismantle law enforcement, raise taxes, take guns, do away with fracking, and much more.

Biden claims Trump is focused on the Supreme Court confirmation due to his focus on ending the Affordable Care Act. He also suggest that he and Obama left Trump a great economy with Trump turning it into a recession.

A Few Fact Checks

During the Presidential Debate, Biden said he specifically would not end fracking. He has also specified on many occasions he did not want to raise taxes on anyone making under $400,000. Biden denounced the rioting and looting on live television, and ensured Americans he did not want to abolish the police. Whether or not he will keep his word can only be determined by actions.

The Executive Order on An America-First Healthcare Plan featured on Whitehouse.gov describes how Trump plans to get rid of the Affordable Care Act, but saves pre-existing conditions. A file from jec.senate.gov suggests that Trump did inherit a booming economy that Obama, Biden, and others worked hard to build back up. It also explains that Trump increased the state of our economy for a time. The economy is technically worse presently than when Trump inherited it. With there being a pandemic, it could be possible the health crisis is to blame partly.

Retweeting

Politicians will sometimes retweet information. This means they share a post that was originally posted by someone else. You can get a feel of the type of energy they promote by looking at who they retweet and the content of the post.

Trump has a spirit for some pretty extreme terminology. He has a pattern of retweeting post from unverified accounts that share in his rather extreme sounding rhetoric. President Trump recently retweeted a fan's post stating Biden stood with BLM (Black Lives Matter), which the user also claimed stood for burn, loot, and murder. Despite Biden denouncing the riots and looting during the Presidential Debate, Trump seems to feel he still supports it.

Biden retweeted a post from verified user Stacy Abrams. The post was directed at Georgia voters. It explains to voters how to find information about voting in their area.

Encouraging Americans to Vote

During the election, politicians do what they can to encourage the American people to vote. Different politicians take different approaches to how they address the public on these matters. Joe Biden motivated voters to go out and vote with a more empathetic feel. President Trump took a bit more aggressive approach. To some users, Trump's tweets promoted voting in an almost threatening way.

When it comes to trying to determine the character and truth about a person, keeping up with them directly is usually much better than hearing from third party sources. It helps you to see for yourself the type of people we are allowing to run our country.

Its crazy how people can literally see unedited facts and still be this braindead.

Also Trumps tweet about the stock market going up 300 points, was because it had just fell 300 points due to him in the same week. Being a loose cannon isnt a quality a president should have. You wouldnt want his traits in an employee im betting. People are too busy trying to be for a man just so they can say theyre against someone else and not actually caring about the details.

This is an amazing article, thank you Nikki.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. I've got no desire to argue nor to pursue you differently. Like I said, I'm only presenting the facts as they present themselves. You're free to take from it as you please.

David Fm Great RI on October 16, 2020:

I think Trump is doing a swell job. He can be a loose cannon. part of his personality.

KC McGee from Where I belong on October 16, 2020:

No, that can't be said about both of them. biden is the only criminal between the two. bidenis should be in prison.

Nikki Avail (author) from Florida on October 16, 2020:

That could be said about both of them. I'm not here to pick sides or convince anyone else to. Just presenting the facts as they present themselves. I'm sure you'll get a kick out of the "Hunter Biden Emails" article I'm in the process of writing.

KC McGee from Where I belong on October 15, 2020:

biden should be in prison for all of his crimes. not running for president. It goes to show you the lack of morals and values of the Democrat party who will vote for him and biden himself for running for the office in the first place. He commited felonies while vice president and the democarts don't give a damn. It's for reasons like that that biden and obama are the ones responible for dividing this country. Then you have people in the deep state like pelosi, nadler, schumer, hillary, comey, brennen, and worst of all the liberal media protecting that criminal biden. A vote for biden is a vote for a criminal of the worst kind.

Greg Schweizer from Corona, California. on October 15, 2020:

I just get tired of people referring to him a VP, to me that is disrespectful to Vice President Pence. That's all.

Nikki Avail (author) from Florida on October 15, 2020:

Yes it is. Just trying to keep the title short for sharing purposes.

Greg Schweizer from Corona, California. on October 15, 2020:

By the way, it's FORMER Vice President Biden.
