Do You Really Want to Know Why the U.S. Economy Is Falling Apart?

It feels like everyone in this country is holding their breath. It feels like the fear is palpable. And, yes F.D.R. said that we have nothing to fear but fear itself but I would respectfully disagree with him at this stage in the game. What is going on? Why are we going through this economic tsunami? I think that there are definite reasons why we are experiencing turmoil in this country. It has happened because of the Federal Reserves omnipotent powers as talked about most thoroughly in the film called: The Money Masters because of greed stemming from corporations as seen on the film (located below) and because our leaders have been bought and paid for.

What most people don't know is that the Federal Reserve is NOT a government agency. They disseminate money into our economy and charge the taxpayers interest every time a dollar is printed. There is no reason, whatsoever, that we shouldn't be printing debt free money. We did this in the colonies (in the early days of our country) and Abraham Lincoln did it during the Civil War (a reason that some people think he was assassinated).

Even Thomas Jefferson is quoted as saying "I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies. If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around [the banks] will deprive the people of all property until their children wake-up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered. The issuing power should be taken from the banks and restored to the people, to whom it properly belongs."

This is happening NOW!

To further exasperate the problem we have oil companies and other corporations that have consistently bribed and quelled any and all innovations that would benefit our country at the expense of their profit. I would highly recommend the book "Confessions of an Economic Hit Man. In this book he clearly lays out how corporations have decimated other countries under the guise of assistance. A good argument could be made that BP has done just that.

Other tactics include buying up any and all competition even if that competition is producing a better product that would not have us dependent upon foreign oil. This is clearly shown in this short film. This film discusses the invention of the "Air Car", a car that is run on compressed air and sold in France right now. Why isn't this car here in this country, hmmm?

Finally, we have good old fashioned corruption. Consistently, we have voted men and women into office to "clean up" the system and yet it's as corrupt as it has ever been. Have you ever wondered why? Have you ever wondered if the "good guys" might have been prevented from even entering into the system? What happens is that the figure heads change but the true power brokers stay the same. Those people are the advisers and the men and woman behind the scenes. Administrations come and go but these people never change. They are the people from the "think tanks" otherwise known as "The Wise Men", they belong to the Council on Foreign Relations, The Carnegie Institute and The Trilateral Commission among others. These are the advisers to the President, they are the people behind the scenes. They always come from the same schools and belong to the same organizations. They are the people who really run the country.

They want us poor, uneducated and ultimately dead. The Georgia Guidestones blatantly announce that the goal is to have a population of no more than 500 million. Do the numbers, it doesn't bode well. I hope we have learned our lessons from the concentration camp system of World War II, do not wait until you are too weak to fight, do not let them confiscate our guns, do not let them win.

These people run the media, put ideas into action and pretty much manipulate the masses and until we all become aware of the reality of the situation we will continue to be manipulated, lied to and ravished. It is not about left or right, liberal or conservative or Republican or Democrat any longer. The time is now, the situation is dire and I hope that enough of us will rise up and demand the rights that our forefathers fought for.

They are making people poor and enjoying their conquest. I never thought I would see the day that the unemployment rate has been around 9% for almost three year. Pres. Obama should have done something about jobs when he stepped into his office. Don't the fools know that hospitals are really profiting, they are buying the most expensive equipment that is being manufactured. They don't need all of the equipment that is being purchased by all of them in the same location or city. They are increasing our health care, and cost. If you have a job you can provide some health care payment or arrange time payments. I marked you up and the truth is shining in all of your articles. Jefferson NEVER said that. I spent a day trying to find it.

BTW, the REAL problem is debt, excessive debt. You can't IMPORT everything and borrow the money to do it, and run up other debts forever without it having repercussions. The credit bubble and crash, and depression are the result of the excessive debt.

Brie, once again I am proud of you for exposing the truth about the evil in this world. The central banking system under the Federal Reserve which was endorsed by congress is creating massive debt and inflation. It's the same system they use in Europe. The founding fathers made it a point not to adopt this system because it was destroying the British economy. Andrew Jackson abolished this system when it was introduced in the early 19th century. I believe printing his face on a federal reserve note is a mockery.

How is it possible to rise up when the events are controlled by supernatural forces? And rise up against what? An invisible entity that we call evil? This planet is governed by forces of good and evil. And make no mistake: The so-called powers that we call the global elite are unknowingly held hostage by an evil power greater than we could imagine. What is happening is supposed to happen. We are only spectators. We are being pushed toward a spiritual yet cataclysmic end -- of which we know the outcome.

The only "Saving Grace" is the very fractional reserve banking system employed by the secretive wealthy banking elite (Many who are not Americans) is collapsing under it's own weight. Debt is NOT Capital.

Unfortunately the solution being offered is not removing the Fed... it's abolishing our Constitution and creating a new Global Currency modeled on the European Union.

Bankers are taking control of our Assets. Obama is workign with the United Nations to set up new Central Banks based on the Global Warming Fraud.

The Deception never ends. The only way to save the country is to stop voting for Party Politics, Eliminate the Fed, and DEMAND your Politicians support the Constitution of the United States of America and the Bill of Rights. These documents are what ensure our Freedoms and Liberties.

Why are the masses asleep at the wheel? Apathy will be the destruction of this country. Americans have got to ACT NOW to save our country.

great overview Brie!

i would add that the real powers that be are imaginary ones. Officially, and de-facto, it is a conglomeration of corporate conglomerates that is running the show, and everything that the power brokers do has to be motivated by the accumulation of imaginary wealth (US dollars) by imaginary bodies (incorporations).

As you allude to, all we need do is understand we are all backseat drivers with no (actual) body at the wheel (some much better paid than others, who think they have the drivers' ear, but they cannot buy or exercise actual power or weal to be used for any sane biologically based purpose), and use our imagination to imagine that we would not let imaginary beings run our world and decide all human behavior. it starts with your own mind and your own economy showing the way!

Hi Brie, I just signed up to comment and what I see in action today is a long term plan to loot this country and that seems to be working very well. I do belive that the speed at which things are happening now is directly related to the year 2012 and yes I am of the Christan faith. If one is so inclined to belive in the "Men of Power", which after reading "Capitan and The Kings" I do then these men will plan for survival in the worst of times. It only stands to reason that if such people have as much power as they do then they also have access to the best and most current information. I belive that those same men know that "something" is going to happen in 2012 but even they are not sure what and neither am I but the global elite appear to to "circling their wagons" to ensure their survival in the event of global chaos. 2012 could very well be the start of the tribulations, not the end of the world but the end of time as we know it causing people to look for savior. Having said all of this, continue to seek the truth, hold tightly to your faith, read Rev. ch 2.ver 9 and get ready for a very wild and hard ride in the near future. Simper Fi.

When it come to corruption in politics the system definitely works to corrupt individuals. In the uk at the moment there is a huge scandal over politicians fiddling their expenses. The main reason that is coming out to explain why virtual all of them have been at it is that they were to scared of what the public would think if they gave themselves a pay rise, so they kept their pay the same for years and new MP's were just told that the maximum expense allowance was actual part of their pay rather than an ordinary expense account. They didn't tell the public this though, hence the uproar when people found out about them claiming the mortgage for a 3rd home on expenses, or using it to hire people to clean their moat (yes, an actual moat like castles have - that was a real expenses claim that was paid out on).

Brie Hoffman (author) from Manhattan on February 18, 2009:

The usurous credit card companies are a whole other story. Thanks for writing, you are well informed.

issues veritas on February 18, 2009:

Interesiting approach to the subject and I can't disagree with it.

The income tax was voted on similar to the Federal Reserve Act. While they slipped thses in on us, there was no reason why subsequent Congresses couldn't have rewritten it or got rid of it.

Government works like a monopolistic corporation, they have all the cards and they know how to play them. They are in a winning position and they play to stay winners.

The real cost of money being printed is not the Federal Reserve but its is the credit organizations. These organizations, like credit card companies take whatever the cost of their money from the Federal Reserve and they will add a heavy interest rate on top of it. So no matter what the cost of printing money is they will always make a bundle on top of it.

Congress gave them en exemption from the Usury Laws which I believe was capped at 10% and they have exceeded 20% and then they tag on fees. Because they give credit to people that won't or can't pay back their card balances they were given the right to be usurious. In addition, they don't keep the credit fraud and identity theft in check because they don't require ID checks and with the online and telephone use of the credit cards they accumulate huge losses. These losses would be significantly less if they kept an eye on the credit card usage.

In addition, credit cards advocate the use of minimum payments. Making nimimum payments means a treasure chest of interest without any real work on their part. After a while, the card holder is paying interest on top of the interest. Most card holders can never pay off their card balances. They are like drug junkies and the card companies know how to keep them from going straight,

The 30 year fixed mortgage that is fully amortized also carries as due on sale clause. This means that the loan must be paid off when you sell the house. This is a boom for the loan holder because the home owners of today don't stay in a house for even ten years. The loan payments on a 30 year loan don't do much to dropping the loan principal in the first ten years. So whe you paid off your loan in less than ten years the bank got a windfall because they got there mony back early but got the heavy interest payments. Now they can take that money and use it again. The whole purpose of the loan back pay was because of the 30 years that the bank had to wait for the loan repayment. But early pay offs to the bank make the loan more like an interest only loan for the first ten years.

Negative amortized loans are even worse because you owe more than the original loan principal. You have to pay down just to get back to the original loan price. That is because you didn't make the fully amortized loan payments, you paid less but they tacked the difference on top of the original principal.

With home loans you had an offset based on the increase in the market value of your house but if you bought high and the market crashes then you might not even have any equity even including your cash down payment. There are other loan types between these two but there gimmick relies on your luck to not have interest rates go up and up. Lets call this 2008.

The Federal Reserve starts the cycle and the banks put their game on top of it.

Thanks for the chance to share.

Thanks for your comments fiskfarm. However, I am a Christian and therefore adhere to Biblical prophecies. I do believe firmly that we are in the "End Times" however, if you understand Biblical prophecies there are still quite a few things that have to happen and those things cannot happen if the world "ends" in 2010 or even 2012. The Mark of the Beast still has to happen, the Anti-Christ has to come into power, a 7 year peace treaty with Israel has to be implemented. This is not to say that cataclymic things won't happen, I just don't believe that the planet will be decimated by 2010 or 2012 because it doesn't fit Biblical prophecy. One of the main things about Biblical prophecy is the lack of mention of the U.S., therefore we might be "dedimated" or at the very least we will decrease in power (which is already happening, it's just that the majority is under the delusion that we are ok). I guess we'll see who was right since 2010 and 2012 are right around the corner. As for me, I'll stick with the God of Abraham, Issac and Jacob, He has not let me down so far!

Good luck to you..

I don't know if you youngsters remember Mother Earth News back 30 years ago but John and Jane Shuttleworth have been predicting this mess since back then. Their advice has always been to get as far away from the cities as possible and learn to farm and barter. My irony is that although we live 2 hours from the closest city (Bangor, ME) we find ourselves living on a half acre lake lot (very beautiful) instead of the farms we had owned for years. Plenty of deer, moose and well armed neighbors however. And then there is Planet X and 2012 just around the corner. Maybe that will straighten out this fiasco. Check it out here:

Thanks Born to be Free, same to you.

born to be free on February 12, 2009:

Hello again Brie,

I learned something yesterday that taught me a lesson. Even for those of us that have our eyes wide open, there are times when our focus is actually being directed by those we expose. I can't really elaborate at the moment, but I will say this; More than ever I am convinced that by the end of April the phrase "Conspiracy Theory" will be replaced with "Oh My God!"

One thing people need to understand is that we do not do this for attention. We do this because we are concerned for the well being of others. Some times I wish I didn't know the people I know, I wish I hadn't heard certain things, I wish I didn't have to wish. But because I do know, I am left, like others, with no choice but to share it.

I think that sharing knowledge concerning events yet in the future, are taken by many just as Prophecy is. The majority of people will never really understand what a Prophecy really means until after it has actually taken place. Many will not believe a Prophecy because it is yet in the future, but once the appointed time has arrived, then they believe. A good example of this is the mark of the beast in the Book of Revelations. Because the mark has not yet arrived, many do not believe it is fact, however, once it has been initiated, there will no longer be any doubt.

So, for me, I will speak what I know to be true, wether it is here yet or not, I know it to be true.

Good luck to you in the coming struggle. Peace be with you. Spread the word.

Brie Hoffman (author) from Manhattan on February 11, 2009:

The Federal Reserve Bill was enacted on Christmas Eve when almost all of the members were told there would be no more legislation and were on Christmas break. I really strongly suggest that you read the book "The Creature from Jekyl Island" so that you know a little more about it. With knowledge comes understanding. By the way, I do agree that most Congressmen/woman are ignorant and are self-serving, there are a few exceptions like Ron Paul and Dennis Kucinich.

pgrundy on February 11, 2009:

I don't think they just forgot. I think they are self-interested, self-absorbed, and the rest of us don't matter to them at all. Having working a bank and also for a huge multinational insurance corporation, I'm very familiar with how delusional those environments can and do get. They really do create a separate reality for themselves and oncce they've done that, they just don't care what happens outside of it.

In order for something to be a conspiracy, the conspirators have to care enough about the rest of us to conspire. I don't think that's what is happening here. I'm not saying it's less evil, less selfish, or less dangerous and outrageous because of that, all I'm saying is I don't think it's a conspiracy.

A conspiracy also suggests a level of intelligence that I don't think these people have. The press keeps talking about them like they are the best and the brightest but again, I've seen them, and they're not. They're punks who landed in the right place at the right time and stole what they could while they could. That's not genious, it's just opportunism.

I do think that the U.S. has been in decline for at least twenty or thirty years now and that the Bush clan flatly set out to loot the carcass while there was still something to loot. I think that absolutely happened, and that what we are seeing now is just the final collapse.

Brie Hoffman (author) from Manhattan on February 11, 2009:

Moreover, I think it's rather naïve to think that Congress and The Fed were just too stupid to put language in the Bail Out Bill that would prohibit all Bonuses, these are Ivy League educated people, do you think that they just forgot? Do you really think that these people are just greedy and stupid, I think it goes far further than that.

Brie Hoffman (author) from Manhattan on February 11, 2009:

I don't think it's a question of either's a question of the facts which is why I suggest several movies and books to inform people. There is no reason we should be paying the Fed interest in order to print our own money. Thomas Jefferson, as I mentioned was the first one to say so.

pgrundy on February 11, 2009:

I don't think it is necessary to demonize the Federal Reserve to account for the current mess we are in--although they certainly deserve it lately. What a bunch of jerks. Like Tim Geithner--he files his taxes with Turbo Tax? Seriously? What, with the NY Federal Reserve Gold Edition? He must think we are total morons.

Conspiracy theories involving the Fed abound right now, but they aren't necessary. We can account for all of what has happened by pointing to greed and corruption, pure and simple. The Fed has been an issue for many years, and many people think there is long running consipracy of elite bankers who are taking over the world by means of the Federal Reserve banks and its all very spooky and kooky. But why take it that far when deregulation, greed, corporate lobbyists, and bad decisions tell the story without all the cloak and dagger stuff?

Thanks for the hub. Nice work. :o)

Sorry Meme, didn't see that other question. Do I think that the powers that be are trying to crash the economy, yes I do, whether that is to bring in the Amero or NAU I am not sure, could be. But, one reason that they might be doing this is the same reason that they caused the crash of 29 and that was to increase their wealth. When things go lower the people with the money are able to buy things up for pennies on the dollar. Moreover, the poorer a nation is, the weaker they are, they are not able to resist if they are homeless and starving.
