Dear President Trump

Sometimes writers distance themselves from religious subjects. Religion is still taboo to speak about. Read about it instead.

Firstly, Mr. President, I apologize for judging you in such a harsh manner and comparing you to our horribly wicked brother, Lucifer. You and I do not share the same beliefs, I know, but you are here as a man who followed Christ and he is here as a demon who rejected Him. Not too many people will understand that sentiment, but I must submit it as I prepare to repent of my unChrist-like behavior.

I tried to excuse myself because it is my tradition to write letters to the outgoing presidents. I violated the sacred trust that I have with God that I want to keep my writings free of vitriol and personal hatred so that I can claim to be a follower of Christ.

I do not judge others who feel a need to say mean and hurtful things about people in public. Their walk with Christ is not my business. My walk with Him has found me lacking and ashamed that I ever gave myself permission to harangue you the way I have in that other letter.

I am ashamed. I say that I did not hate you, but my words and actions prove that I must. I was filled with the spirit of the devil, or in other words, privilege and hate. I became no better than those of the Nehors, a group of antichrists mentioned in the Book of Mormon, who professed themselves better than all others who exist because God chose them out from the rest of the world to be saved and have the truth.

This is my Un-Christlike Rant of a letter

I am ashamed. I say that I did not hate you, but my words and actions prove that I must.

God Wants Us to Have the Truth

As I study the Doctrine and Covenants, another book of scripture I hold dear, I know that God wants all of us to have the truth. I do not have to agree with your past. I do have to love you though. I have prayed to have my heart changed to be a lover of all people and I just skipped over you! I virtually condemned myself to hell and spit in the face of God by saying I will try with everyone but him. I have forgiven abusers and people who prey on children, but I drew the line at you?

God help me. Jesus teaches me that He will forgive whom He will forgive, but as for me, He says I must forgive everyone! You never personally did anything to me that I should feel the way I do. I was offended when you won the bid for the Republican nominee for president. I did not believe you represented true ideas for my way of life or my party.

I should never allow my views and politics to become more important than my brotherhood for mankind. I did it. I let my dislike for your past color everything that you have done since. I apologize for speaking evil against you. I apologize for attacking your character. As a couple who mentored me into Christianity instructed me, I did not have to do that. I should have kept quiet.

Those words were confirmed in my heart by the Holy Spirit, especially since my negative feelings have nothing to do with politics, but a personal grudge against you though we have never met.

President Trump, thank you for your service to the nation. I appreciate the efforts you made to do what you felt was right. I had no right to spew out my disdain for your character when I have character flaws that if known would shake the foundation of every relationship I have.

Jesus says in Doctrine and Covenants section one that the wicked shall have their sins shouted on every housetop so the world can know their iniquity. My iniquity is disdain I shared for your past. The housetop is the article that I wrote. It should how small and fickle I am when it comes to judging. I fulfilled Christ's worlds just by writing those words.

We have enough division and hate spewed.

All Flawed

You have flaws, but so do we all. As a public person, your flaws are advertised to the world. As a private person, those who read my writings know what my flaws are, as I did a wicked thing towards you. I am repenting.

I hope that I do not pull anyone away from following Christ because I stepped away publicly from the love that I hope to spread in the name of Christ to the world.

We have enough division and hate spewed. I have covenanted to steer away from such behavior. I have done the damage, and am in tears begging for pardon by God so that I can again be recommended to Him as a servant of His will to spread love and togetherness.

President Trump, I pray for your peaceful leave and sorrow that I added in any way to the agenda of your detractors.

Brenda, I did not know how much I loved America until the thought that someone could hurt our Congresspeople hit me. I burst into tears a few times out of relief, anger, and fear. I just remember, God is in control and I need to be willing to accept that things may happen differently than what I think should happen.

Leslie McCowen from Cape Cod, USA on January 09, 2021:

Yes, we must!

Rodric Anthony (author) from Surprise, Arizona on January 08, 2021:

Leslie, we must speak out against injustice or be complicit.

Rodric Anthony (author) from Surprise, Arizona on January 08, 2021:

Susan, you have my compassion about the lost of your child. I lost a little one 2010 on June 27. It is a painful thing to endure. Life does go on even if hatred tries to stay.

Rodric Anthony (author) from Surprise, Arizona on January 08, 2021:

That cold day in hell will come. It always does. I would not be rash with my words KC. I hope you change you heart about hating. That is an ugly practice to hold onto.

Bill, I am ready to be free of the drama. I wonder if this will be the standard of American politics in the US now...

Rodric Anthony (author) from Surprise, Arizona on January 08, 2021:

Chrish, I hope it is soon. I pray it.

Lora, it is not because I think that he is guilt free that I wrote the apology letter. It is because my motives were unpure when I wrote the other letter. My sole purpose was to debase him and pull down his name. As a Christian, I have covenanted to no do that sort of thing. My inspiration was hate and my attitude was nastiness. It was disrespectful of me to speak ill of this man when I had nothing to say about his presidency that was bad. I acted on my dislike towards him. If he is found guilty of inciting the attack on the Capital, I feel the law needs to punish him accordingly. Until then, I need to keep my hand clean before end up being judge harshly. I do not presume to know what led to the Capitol attack. It looks like President Trump incited it.

Leslie McCowen from Cape Cod, USA on January 08, 2021:

When trump and maga are gone, we can shut up. Until then, silence= complicity.

Susan from Dover Delaware on January 08, 2021:

I am writing an article about gardening. Don't we all see enough of this type of things on the news. First about black lives matter, now about President Trump. I loved the fact I didn't see much of this on hub pages. It made it a nice place to go and read and write. Come on enough is enough. We have all heard enough of it, if you have not, just turn on the TV, or read the news on your phone. I came to hub pages most days to get away from all of that. Spring will still come, gardens will still be planted. I don't know about everyone else, but I need a break from all of this hate. I lost a child to murder five years ago, I can't take anymore hate. There is way to much in the world already. Just reading the comments above, it's like an argument. It's hard to read. It makes you want to run, no matter what your stance or view is.

KC McGee from Where I belong on January 08, 2021:

Resist criminal biden and race baiting harris. Threat them both exactly the same way the marxist democrat garbage treated PRESIDENT Trump. EXACTLY THE SAME WAY......... HATE THEIR GUTS. biden said America needs to now be united. biden and harris CAN KISS MY ASS

It will be a cold day in hell before I tell them I'm sorry.

Bill Holland from Olympia, WA on January 08, 2021:

I have no allegiance to this man, and I don't feel bad for his leaving us all. It's time for all of us to turn the page.

Chrish Canosa from Manila Philippines on January 08, 2021:

We can't wait to see America United Again

BRENDA ARLEDGE from Washington Court House on January 07, 2021:

I didn't catch your earlier article, but I totally understand.

I had some bad feelings of my own just yesterday when protesters were at the Capitol.

God will hear you.

Lora Hollings on January 07, 2021:

Rodric, I don’t know why you feel the need to apologize about your first letter to Trump. This man incited his battalion of thugs to storm the capital while the Congress was supposed to have confirmed our next president and as a result five people have died. It is high time for this man to pay for his high crimes and misdemeanors. He deserves to be impeached and tried for such a criminal act. Trump has gotten away with all kinds of corruption and impeachable acts for the last four years due to his enablers. It is high time that he is made to pay for inciting violence toward others and encouraging a mob to attack our DC Capitol! It was an attack on our democracy. Trump is unworthy of the office he holds and he should immediately resign or be removed for his role as an instigator. This man is a very dishonorable fellow and, in fact, there is a very good chance that he may end up in prison when he is finally out of office which can’t be soon enough! Personally, I think he should be jailed right now for his role in this attack on our democratic institutions that resulted in the deaths of other people.

Rodric Anthony (author) from Surprise, Arizona on January 07, 2021:

It is in response to the hate article I wrote the day before. I am sorry to have exposed people to my darker feelings.

Rodric Anthony (author) from Surprise, Arizona on January 07, 2021:

I let my anger win in the other letter. I left my Christianity in the first word and began the Trump hate speech. I am so sorry I did that.

John Hansen from Australia (Gondwana Land) on January 07, 2021:

Yes, Rodric, an interesting follow up to your previous letter.
