The Internet Beggers

So the internet has brought us a long way in so many different ways. It use to be that if someone was struggling they had to either wait in long lines for hours outside of non profits or stand on the street corner holding a sign. Those days are gone. Cyber begging is exactly what it sounds like. It is a way for those who are in need to get help without it hurting the ego quite as much. It keeps you from having to look someone in the eyes and feel the shame that comes with needing assistance.

There are tons of websites out there. Sadly many require a fee. It doesn't make much sense to ask for money from someone who needs to ask for money. I did however find several that were good reputable sites. Even with good sites there are things to watch for before donating or asking for help.

SCAMS

Well it seems these days you can't go anywhere on the Internet without the scammers trying to get you. So of course a site dedicated to helping people is going to have scammers.

Anytime you receive an email asking you to send a money order or accept a money order delete it! These are money order scams and they are always fraud!

Anytime something sounds too good to be true, chances are it is!

Websites For Cyber Begging

So the holidays are approaching and many people are trying to figure out how to help others. I spent a week going through all the different beggar websites trying to find the best. While there are a lot of cyber begging sites there only seems to be a few worth wasting time on. Two stood out above the rest. No matter if you are looking for help or looking to help someone else these are the ones I found to be honest sites. I do not get any type of fee for referring you to these websites. These are not referral links

  1. http://www.begslist.org
  2. http://www.2hands.org
  3. http://outrageousrequests.com/post
  4. http://gofundme.com
  5. https://www.indiegogo.com/

On Begslist you simply scroll down the left side of your screen to a list of things people need help with. You can then read through the ads and pick someone to help.

On 2hands it is easiest to go to the forums and pick a part of the country and see if there is someone there that you can help.

Outrageous requests has a small fee required, but this one is different. It allows both individuals and businesses to contribute to help people. So if you are in need of something other than just cash this may be your best option. Did your AC go out? Is your car broke down? Then this may be a better option for you than the other listed options because it allows businesses to offer services to people instead of just cash. This website also actively seeks out businesses willing to help people out. So they are attempting to bring in more businesses.

Go Fund Me and Indiegogo are both crowd funding websites which rely greatly on sharing your need on social media. The only downside I see to these two is you are more likely to get help if you need money for something silly or trivial than you are if you have an actual need.

So What are the Top Two Cyber Begging Sites?

Personally I think that Begslist and 2hands are the best options.

It seems the others rely too much on social media, and lets be honest, most of us don't want the people on our social medias list to really know how bad we are having it.

Also paying a fee is not always possible, especially if you are struggling week to week.

Don't Feel Ashamed For Cyber Begging

So you are thinking of posting an ad on one of these sites because you are in need of help? Don't feel bad about it. Though I would never tell anyone on here which ads I have placed, I do have an ad listed on 2 of the websites I listed. We all have needs. We all have times when life hits us a little hard. It's okay to ask for help! It is not something to be ashamed of. Sometime even those of us who are usually financially capable have a moment of need. Never feel bad about asking for help! Cyber Begging gives us at least a bit of anonymity.

If you need help ask for it!

Notice to Those Who Need Money

While I understand if you need assistance, and I've had to delete the comments section, this is not an assistance site. If you are looking for assistance you would be better off going to one of the sites I mentioned than here.

The people who end up reading this are either others in need or writers for this site. So I want you to know sharing your message here will show others that there are others out there in the same situation, but it will likely not help you in any way.
