4. Abortion

ABORTION ISSUES

There has been contentious debate over laws regarding abortion in the United States for many years and abortion is often a topic discussed in the news as it was today on World News Tonight With David Muir.

Widely considered a victory for people that are Pro-life and a defeat for people that are Pro-choice, the recent overturning of Roe vs. Wade has been causing a great level of debate in the United States.

With certain laws regarding abortion being left up to the states, some state legislatures are more conservative than others.

Currently, in the state of Ohio, a woman cannot pursue an abortion after six weeks gestation in pregnancy regardless of circumstance (rape, incest, etc.)

  • In a story that has not been proven and that many suspect to be fabricated by groups in the Pro-choice camp, it was reported that the rapist of a ten year old girl was apprehended and arrested.
  • It was also reported that this ten year old became pregnant from the rape and had to travel to a state different from where she lived in order to pursue an abortion.

Among the many reasons that much of the public might be suspecting this story to be untrue is that the law enforcement has not been able to reveal any evidence of it regarding a rape kit for example.

Additionally, the start of the menstrual cycle for a young girl during puberty would typically be at 11-12 years old.

A 10 year old becoming pregnant may be possible but very rare.

Either way, the rape and possible pregnancy of a ten year old girl is a tragic, sordid and depraved story that has caught the attention of the World News Tonight viewers.
