David Muir appears to be on vacation perhaps as for the third week night in a row, a substitute news reporter filled in for David Muir On July 4, 2022.

1. Mass shooting in Highland Park, Illinois

With mass shooting being defined as a shooting during which there are three or more casualties, yet another mass shooting has occurred in the United States of America this 4th of July day.

In tonight's World News Tonight broadcast, it was reported that perched on top of a local business's building and using an assault rifle, a 19-21 year old male mass shooter is still at-large, not yet apprehended.

Shooter in Highland Park

This mass shooter opened fire within the first ten minutes of a 4th of July parade in Highland Park, a suburb of Chicago, Illinois.

Six people have died and over twenty five people were reportedly injured.

The injured were taken to a nearby hospital

The injured were taken to a nearby hospital.

Thankfully, nineteen of the injured have already been treated and released from the hospital. Victims range from 8 to 85 years old.

Witnesses said that the injuries were like those seen in war.

BEFORE THE END OF THE NEWS BROADCAST, an update on this news story was provided. A name for the suspect was provided. The suspect at-large is 22 year old Robert "Bobby" E. Crimo. A manhunt is under way to find this murderer as soon as possible. Police are looking for a silver Honda Fit car.

As of 10:15pm, various news outlets are now reporting that the suspect, Robert "Bobby" E. Crimo III was apprehended a few hours ago, caught while driving a silver Honda Fit car.

2. Jayland Walker

Last week, a twenty five year old Black man named Jayland Walker was shot by police over 60 times in an attempted traffic stop in Akron, Ohio.

He had led police on an over five mile chase in his car. The police reported that shots were fired out of his car during the pursuit.

Jayland Walker pulled his car aside and jumped out, fleeing from the police on foot.

He was running, then he stopped and turned toward the police.

This prompted the police to open fire, shooting and killing Jayland Walker with over sixty gun shot wounds. He was unarmed at the time.

The police reported that a pistol was found in Jayland Walker's car.

Protests have erupted throughout Akron, Ohio after this incident. Over fifty people have been arrested while protesting. Fourth of July fireworks have been canceled in the area.

During the news broadcast, Jayland Walker's uncle, Demetrius was interviewed and said that Jayland is the last person on earth that he would imagine this happening to and it was "out of character" that he would run from the police.

3. Weather Warnings

Weather warnings for severe inclement weather are in effect through much of the country today, July 4, 2022.

4. Big Olaf Ice Cream Linked to Listeria Outbreak


Big Olaf Ice Cream in Florida (sold only in Florida) has been linked to a Listeria outbreak. Illness in people has been reported. The ice cream shop is cooperating with health investigators and ice cream sales have been halted.

5. Miki Sudo has won the Nathan's hot dog eating contest

Miki Sudo has won the annual Nathan's hot dog eating contest at Coney Island. She ate 40 hot dogs.

She did not participate in last year's contest because she was pregnant at the time.
