Spotlight on (WLM) Early Pioneer of Women’s Rights

BellaSavitzkyAbzug (July 24, 1920 – March 31, 1998), nicknamed "Battling Bella", was an American lawyer, U.S. Representative, social activist and a leader of the Women's Movement. In 1971, Abzug joined other leading feminists such as Gloria Steinem, Shirley Chisholm, and Betty Friedan to found the National Women's Political Caucus.

In 1970, Abzug's first campaign slogan was, "This woman's place is in the House—the House of Representatives."She was later appointed to co-chair the National Commission on the Observance of International Women's Year created by President Gerald Ford's executive order, presided over the 1977 National Women's Conference, and led President Jimmy Carter's National Advisory Commission for Women.

It's Time That We

talked about something that somehow (some) in our great country have forgotten such a historical-event. Do you have any inkling about the earth-shaking movement about Women's Lib.? Let me be correct. Women's Liberation? Now. We can take an honest (and needed) look back at this creation of powers that not only touched the lives of women everywhere, but the men around them were also touched.

Just what was the (WLM)? Or the Women's Liberation Movement? The Women's Liberation movement (WLM) was a political alignment of women and feminist intellectualism that emerged in the late 1960s and continued into the 1980s primarily in the industrialized nations of the Western world, which affected great change (political, intellectual, cultural) throughout the world. And to make this thought complete, here are a few of the noted-leaders who not only formed, but led the (WLM): Mary Wollstonecraft, Susan B. Anthony, Alice Stone Blackwell, Elizabeth Cady Stanton, Emmeline Pankhurst, Sojourner Truth. Like I stated, these are but a few of the female pioneers who took the word Liberation to a higher level.

And while the (WLM) stood fast and firm for women's rights everywhere, it took many years for the male-dominated circles in the country to acknowledge that women were people, not sex objects or livestock. I realize that this sounds a bit under-realized, but truth is the truth. But I also agree that many times in life, the truth is a tough commodity to find, and yes, to keep.

Here Are a Number of Things

that we human beings fear:

  • Heights
  • Close areas
  • Crowds
  • Animals
  • Flying
  • Boating
  • Loud noises
  • Male/Female relationships
  • Strangers
  • Traveling
  • Leaving the house/apartment

And you can believe this or not, what you see (above) is only a sample of the many and various things and situations that people fear.

Please Allow me The Privilege

of posting a few photographs (below) that depict areas of Confidence, not Fear. And with these photos, I hope that they are a help to you because I find that just by looking at a photo or billboard, personally, I can find the confidence that I need to help get through a certain situation.

And please note that the brand of gasoline on the vintage gas pump (below) is Shell gasoline which I do NOT promote, endorse, or urge anyone, anywhere to purchase the product. This artwork was strictly for editorial purposes. Thanks, Kenneth

There Was a Time When

girlswere conditioned by society that was dominated by males that girls should be soft, feminine, and very cushy. And that ideology worked . . .up to a point. When the 1950s gave birth to the 60s, women began to ask themselves, why am I just a housewife or some man’s secretary? This one question, among many questions, was the beginning of the Women’s Lib Movement and women, although did suffer and sacrifice, made in-rows to their offices, lifestyles and mindsets.

What is so amazing (to me), is that when women were free to work and follow their dreams, the male mindset, ever so stubborn, refused to give into the women’s new way of living. I can imagine that if I were riding in a car in the early 60s, and the driver pulled into a gas station and had the shock of his life: having a pretty girl (in above photo) asking may she help him? I would.

Girls of All Shapes

sizes and from various walks of life can (and do) their own car washing, tune-up, and most anything of the automotive line. The girls who choose to do this type of work do not do this work just to show men how much that they (the women) have progressed over the years. Girls can and do, (a vital phrase) most anything that their heart desires.

Women Competing With Sportsmen

is the norm today in 2019. To see a pretty girl landing a 26-pound large mouth bass is nothing but exciting and fulfilling for both the female’s partner, a male, who enjoys fishing right now with a delightful twist: taking his girlfriend along for another fishing tournament.

Just When You Have

seen it all, this lovely woman comes into view and us men cannot believe our eyes. This woman is doing a great job of cutting logs maybe it is her job, or maybe she is cutting the logs to cut into smaller logs to burn in her fireplace in the cold winter time. But the point I want to make is this: today there is absolutely NOTHING to fear from us males. And there is absolutely NOTHING to fear from females who can compete in and out of the workplace. Women want to be respected just as men want the same respect because this is what makes life a joyous place.

Marie, Although genders will not be a concern during the next Alternant Civilization (Revelation 21) that follows this one's demise some 7000 years after the earth is replenished, that gender will rule for what I estimate to be 84,000 years when Genesis 1:1 is repeated.

I always basically considered myself "whole," not in competition with anyone. When necessity requires a surge of adrenaline and muscle, it's amazing what the psyche and body can do.

As far as politics, I think mothers should rule the world. There would be no wars.

Intellectually, women tend to be more flexible--in case of stroke, for example, the female brain recuperates more efficiently than the male version. (I don't recommend getting a stroke to prove this point).

A seer noted I had life experiences dating back to ancient Greece. (No wonder I enjoy logic.)

Spiritual studies say everyone is 60/40, the 60% being the sexual trait of their physical expression, e.g. if male, 40% of his makeup is female and vice-versa for women. Each of us has the capacity to draw from our masculine or feminine experiences when desired.

In short, we are all divine.

Love your hub today, dear Kenneth, especially after having gone through the Women's Lib movement myself. I think young people today don't realize how badly their mothers and grandmothers who worked so hard to keep this country running during WWII by stepping into "man's jobs" were treated after the war. The men came home, to be hailed as heroes, but their pride was wounded when they saw their jobs being done competently by women. They gave their women a "honey I'm home" slap on the butt and basically said "now have my babies and fix my dinner." I had to live through the hypocrisy of the 1950s. So I guess that's why I chose "a man's profession" to help women break into (broadcasting). And such fun it was! Thankfully, my father never brought me up thinking that way, but my mother tried to and she failed.

Kenneth, now you know where the subject sent my mind, although I didn't think that was where you were going with it, but it went there anyway and made me come to see where you were going. Love your trickery to get me here!!! LOL

On my way here I had already answered "Can a Girl Really" with Yes. This is my reasonings.

Girls (adult man) are as much man as boys (adult man, why do you think they say "the good old boys") are. (Before puberty man are fetus, babies, children and adolescents. Woman's "wo" means "woven from" and "hu" in human means "hewed from" which means both are incomplete man.) Hopefully you take that as "food for thought" and not a putdown.
