Built to Last From Sea to Shining Sea, the United States of America

God Bless America, Land that I Love, Stand beside her and guide her, thru the night, with a Light from above...

Are you familiar with the kicking the dog metaphor?
Disgruntled, unhappy, never measures up, employee has had yet another, bad day at the office, leaves for home with pent up anger and frustration and lashes out at their spouse, the neighbor, their kids....the poor dog!

Pretty much anyone who gets in their way, is going to experience the wrath!

Those in their path have absolutely nothing to do with the bad day...and the poor dog certainly doesn't understand why they are suddenly on the receiving end, catching the wrath.....of everyone!

What could have been welcoming open arms, an ear to hear, a sounding board, a shoulder to cry on and the unconditional love of a dog, whose tail is wagging a mile a minute, has been reduced to heads getting bitten off (not by the dog, he has tucked his tail and gone to his safe space)

What becomes of the night...which follows the bad day, all because the employee doesn’t get along with the boss?

I feel that is exactly what is happening in America, today.

Scared, anxious, cautious individuals followed all the rules and guidelines, they were told would keep them and their loved ones safe, during the duration of a pandemic.

As most states and cities began the return to normalcy, with phasing plans and a positive approach...these individuals were left behind!

Elected officials in their cities and states, without good reason or cause, did not follow suit and seem to have no plan to do so any time soon.

In fact, the citizens in these communities, seem to be residing in areas where there is no apparent hope in sight of getting back to anything close to a normal routine.

As these people begin to get antsy about getting back to work, back to church, back to the gym, back to school...back to some sort of routine; their leaders say no, not yet, as they keep kicking the can (along with hope) a little further down the road.

I can't speak for these individuals, but I would imagine that the fear, anxiety and caution once experienced, has now become anger, impatience, frustration and an urgency to cut loose.

Under Their Thumb

Before they've really even had time to step back and look at the big picture; why is this happening?

Why is my city still locked down, why is my state dragging their feet, holding us back, why are local business owners, being fined yet again? Something’s not right!

Who is making these decisions and what is the reasoning behind it?

Before that could be thoroughly examined, a horrible incident took place. A Police Officer, sworn to protect and serve his community, went way too far and killed a man whom he held in custody.

This Nation was outraged; whether we were just getting back to normal or wondering if that day would ever come, we were all equally outraged.

The Police Officer was dealt with...swiftly; he was arrested and charged.

That should have been the end of it!

But, in these same cities and states, where elected officials have been dragging their feet, keeping everyone on lock down, issuing fines, biding their time, crushing hope...that was not to be the case, it would not be the end of it, far from it!

The same people who have been playing games and politics with people's lives and livelihoods, well before any pandemic came along, couldn't allow that to be the case!

It couldn't be the end of it, because these particular elected officials in these particular cities and states, saw this as another opportunity to keep their constituents, right where they need them to be.

Under their thumb!

Under their control and...through the magic and power of a very biased media, egging it on, activists showing up in droves, fingers being pointed at all the wrong people and all the wrong things, those that live to control are left to control the people...the situation...for another day!

While all of the wrong people, those that never sought to keep them down, but only wish to see everyone back open, working, striving and thriving, have been made to pay the price, made the scapegoat!

Under My Thumb

When Donald Trump took office, he wasn't looking to control anyone or of keeping anyone under his thumb, he spoke of returning to what has always made this Country great! Vast opportunity for everyone!

He has spoken of giving everyone the opportunity to strive and thrive and I've never once, heard anything different!

Under his leadership, manufacturing jobs have been brought back to American cities and people are working in those manufacturing jobs and at many other jobs.

People have been working everywhere, whether small town or big city, our economy has been humming along and unemployment, a thing of the past.

We've had back to back blows, we've stalled a bit, but it will not last, we are already beginning to see, a comeback...maybe not so much in those cities, states, where the elected officials made the choice to keep their communities stalled, under their thumbs, worked up, angry....but everywhere else, we are coming back strong!

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, 2.5 million jobs were added in the month of May, the largest monthly increase in recorded history, even with a pandemic!
The Unemployment rate dropped a percentage, even with a pandemic!

When our leadership, at the top, is strong, The United States of America is resilient and unstoppable.

We've faced other blows and we've always come back, often times, stronger than before.

Sadly, we will face tough times again and again, that's a part of life, it's in how we handle them, that makes the difference.

With so much negative news bombarding us day in, day out, we may be discouraged and thinking we cannot come back stronger, that this is the end...that is exactly what the elected officials keeping you in lock down (in certain cities and states) discouraging normalcy, pointing at the wrong things and all the wrong people...want you to think!

Yes, I have cried over some of the things I have seen and I continually pray for my homeland.

I've also yelled at my radio and I've wanted to throw things at my television.

I really want to throw things at the t.v. when I know that lies are being repeated over and over, too many buy into it and that...is very frustrating.

But, it's not my television's fault!

Yelling at my spouse, the kids, the dog, the neighbor, those who have absolutely nothing to do with the bad day or with what is currently happening in this country...will not fix anything...they are not the cause!

No one should be yelling at the dog over this!

Suddenly, you‘ve found a moment; you’ve stepped back, have taken it all in with a good hard look at the big picture and it hits you.....Eureka!

Now, what are you going to do about it?

God Bless America!

LOVE HER....not sure which article to share it on!? Maybe ALL of them!

A B Williams (author) from Central Florida on June 09, 2020:

Thank you again KC!

The initial plan was for this to be more of a patriotic article; with lots of patriotic music, pictures and stories of the goodness of this Country.

I am not sure why it took the direction it did, I just went along for the ride.

I will eventually get to the patriotic piece.

KC McGee from Where I belong on June 09, 2020:

AB Willians,

I agree 100% with everything you mention in this article. A super read and two thumbs up.

"Sorry about George Floyd -- but the City Council just took away our funding to investigate and prosecute."

A B Williams (author) from Central Florida on June 09, 2020:

Eric, they will either have to use Antifa OR 80 year old School Crossing Guards, all Law Enforcement will be running for the hills to get away from that Insane place.

A B Williams (author) from Central Florida on June 09, 2020:

The author of the article mentioned previously is David Schultz.

Eric Dierker from Spring Valley, CA. U.S.A. on June 09, 2020:

Please don't take away our hyphenations, we like them.

I think the push to defund may be a fine thing to divide the democrats to a bad point for them. I draws pretty distinct lines.

I assume Antifa will take over policing. The protection racket will soar so good for that business.

A B Williams (author) from Central Florida on June 09, 2020:

I was doing a little research on Minnesota - Ground Zero.

They haven't voted for a Republican President since 1972. The controversial, outspoken, radical Ilhan Omar, is Representative of whom MINNESOTANS CHOOSE.

I came across an article about Minnesota, by a Professor (I will go back and find his name and share it) In his op-ed, he comes across as concerned that Minnesota might eventually turn red (Republican) AS IF...that would be the worst thing that could EVER happen to their State!!

Just thought it was a bit ironic.

(Get the garbage you pay for and then blame someone or something else for your bad decisions)

They dodged that Republican bullet...only to end up looking like a war zone in Beirut....or somedamnwhere, with their CHOICES!!! :(

A B Williams (author) from Central Florida on June 06, 2020:

Hi Shannon and Eric, I didn't mean to overlook your latter comments. Great points.

I have such a problem with hyphenating-American.

Why can't we just be Americans?

A B Williams (author) from Central Florida on June 06, 2020:

Thank you so much KC and thank you for the follow.

KC McGee from Where I belong on June 06, 2020:

Outstanding. Looking forward to your next one.

Have a great day A B Williams and Blessing.

Eric Dierker from Spring Valley, CA. U.S.A. on June 06, 2020:

This gets muddled. If not for a racial divide by the rare cases the rest of us could move forward to get rid of the exceptions. I like any movement in this area but would spend my time on black on black violence as a starting ground. How can a yellow man respect a brown one if the brown one does not respect the brown?

It used to be easy in one area. Gangs had colors and you showed your colors.

Shannon Henry from Texas on June 06, 2020:

I'm working on better expressing my thoughts in an article. The truth is, there are too many perspectives to say it's all cut and dry or black and white....or black vs white, for that matter. I think acceptance is the key.

A B Williams (author) from Central Florida on June 06, 2020:

Oh yeah Kyler, Al Sharpton, like Joe Biden, has come up out of the basement too...lol and unfortunately, he is back to doing what he does best!

A B Williams (author) from Central Florida on June 06, 2020:

Hi Shannon, it is such a feel good song...both are!

Felt they were just what this article needed to end on.

I want this hub to be thought-provoking. Naturally it will reflect my views, take, persona, but I pray it will open some hearts, minds and eyes.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

Kyler J Falk from California on June 06, 2020:

I didn't even know Al Sharpton was still relevant, lol.

I've been writing on this veritable race war for a few days now. Because people who support BLM do not want me discussing the anti-white racism I've experienced and continue to experience, claiming I am silencing black voices if I do speak out against it, I've adopted all lives matter as a way to call for equality. I'm not anti-BLM, I'm anti-racism, which is by definition separating people based on qualities applied solely to one race.

All lives matter is the only solution I see to racism, whereas BLM only rears its head to support a movement that does not spread the voice of all. Al Sharpton, the last time I saw him was during Obama, always seemed like a greedy clown using his own race as a way to turn profit. He'd sooner have a white man kill a black man than lose out on his fortune built upon false virtue.

Shannon Henry from Texas on June 06, 2020:

Nice song choices. Of course, you know I like the Brooks & Dunn song the most. ;)

I think you may be right that part of the reason for the major unrest is being cooped up for so long. And there may very well be something to the systemic race issue. But I also think that it has been turned into something too political on a broader picture. This has become more than what will the president or the candidates do for each cultural community/minority and turned into almost pure hate for one political party or the other. Talk about decisive. When that's the attitude, nothing bipartisan can happen.

A B Williams (author) from Central Florida on June 06, 2020:

It seems as if we are more together than apart.

Both opposed to anyone being oppressed, should have us working toward the same goal, the healing of this Nation, so that we can move forward, not backwards.

Any movement Al Sharpton is involved in, only hurts, only divides and I believe that he and many more on the left are responsible for these catch phrases that get everyone all worked up and angry at the wrong people and the wrong things. They are the oppressors!

Kyler J Falk from California on June 06, 2020:

I'd say that the system that allows the innocent phrase, "all lives matter," to be called racist as it concerns presenting it within the context of wanting equality, is an example of our social system being utilized to manipulate us. Thus, the left who mostly wants to participate in the racism, are making systemic racism real. I'm simply trying to take their evil tools and use them for good.

I often get associated with the left by the right, and with the right by the left. Really I see the utility in both parties, but mostly I side (fundamentally not colloquially) with the right. I'm at your back against oppression, but my fight won't be sending me to the voting booths. I cannot, in good conscience, take part in a system that regularly devalues me as simply symbolic outside of the value of my work.

I don't want Trump, and I definitely don't want Biden. I would like someone military-affiliated and younger than the age of 45 in office, and when I say military-affiliated I mean an 0311 who moved his way up to a desk and not some pencil pushing POG who stubbed his toe and got a purple heart and can't stop talking about it every chance he gets.

I'm with you, I'm with America, but I'm against oppression in every shape, form, and color.

A B Williams (author) from Central Florida on June 06, 2020:

Kyler, I believe racism exists and I believe all colors participate in it.

I do not believe in systemic racism, that is the ‘catch phrase‘ of the month, from the left!

Please do not disconnect Kyler, now is not the time, now is the time to be very involved in bringing this Country together, because there are forces working to tear it/us, apart.

The left is working with everything they have, they are using everyone and everything they can, in order to DIS-unite us.

Kyler J Falk from California on June 06, 2020:

Being one of the minority to experience the systemic racism (social systems) it is always saddening to have that put down. White people being told they can't stand against racism if it isn't about POC. Black people being told they have no rights because of a right-full system excluding them, that they should go protest on behalf of for-profit movements, rather than taught how to utilize America's amazing systems of assistance and justice for all is an egregious example of the systemic racism. Everyone is feeling the effects of it, but no one is acknowledging the roots, and those such as yourself deny it even exists where it is screaming us all in the face.

As for why I was riveted: It is because any time someone can call for oppression to end, no matter what side it supports and who they are for, I'm all for it. You're partial to conservatives and cherry-pick the negative information you're willing to ignore and that which you'll share, while touting what is someone else's negative from a different perspective as fact and positive. It's both an interesting and valid connection and disconnection between the information you do and do not share.

Essentially, though we differ in our abstract realities, I'd say our goals/desires are similar and noble; and overall I respect your bravery in speaking out for what you believe. There isn't enough confidence where it counts with most, and too much where it doesn't. That is why I was riveted, and why I was also disconnected.

A B Williams (author) from Central Florida on June 06, 2020:

Amen and hear, hear!!!

Eric Dierker from Spring Valley, CA. U.S.A. on June 06, 2020:

Doggonit -- It just rings clear as a liberty bell. The rioting - presumably the problems - are all in Blue states with scant exception. What does that tell us? Seems like the oppressed are in blue states and sanctuary cities. No opinion, just fact.

A B Williams (author) from Central Florida on June 06, 2020:

I agree Eric! We all go through rough patches, same with Countries, but there is equal and ample opportunity here for all.

It just depends on one's perspective.

Eric Dierker from Spring Valley, CA. U.S.A. on June 06, 2020:

Very interesting take. We laugh here at MAGagain. We just have gratitude for this great nation. And think it was never less than great.

A B Williams (author) from Central Florida on June 06, 2020:

Kyler, while I have your attention...you said that I had you riveted, up until the mention of President Donald J. Trump.

Why were you riveted, in my mentioning the oppressed people in these blue cities, blue states?

Nothing EVER changes for them, they elect the same type losers, those seeking to hold them back, as they are KEPT completely and totally dependent on them...and they do it over and over again.

What are they expecting.....different results?

A B Williams (author) from Central Florida on June 06, 2020:

Kyler we do not have “a systemic racism problem here in America”.

What we DO have is communists, socialists, leftists, RINOs, (which have made their way into office) in order to work AGAINST, not for, the United States of America.

Until we VOTE THEM ALL OUT, things will never change, they will continue to work against us, to destroy us!

You have bought into the false narrative, it’s sad, but true. You seem to be a sharp individual, but you are being misled!

P.S. I welcome your comments. Let’s talk about it. We Must!

Kyler J Falk from California on June 06, 2020:

You had me riveted up until the praise of good ole Donny. He has my support as the Commander in Chief, but he failed as a President on this one the second he played the hateful games the media unfairly goaded him into. He said his piece, it was kind as he called for justice for George, then he had to go and play the media's racially-heated hate games.

Personally, I want my President to be above the petty games of petulant peasants biting at the ankles of those they can't rise above. He let me down, once more, with his need to play into it. If he wants my support during this time, he can speak out about and against the racism oppressing all colors that the media is using to divide us.

We have a systemic racism problem here in America, a systemic oppression problem that could be solved when all our "elected officials" realize that all lives matter. Good ole Donny would do well to remind everyone of that, over and over again, and never stoop to the level of the media.
