Yes, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez Is a Wild Democratic Socialist Woman

Polite conversation once dictated "Never discuss politics or religion". Good idea? The current divisiveness between parties says "Yes".

Yes, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is a Wild Democratic Socialist Woman

What is it about Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez that Gets Such Negative Attention from the Republican Party?

Please note: Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is also known in the online world as AOC, or the hashtag #AOC, and this abbreviation of her name will appear here as well.

Is Ocasio-Cortez an Easy Target? Maybe Not.

For all her popularity with the liberal Democrats, she is also a target of many including the Republican party, conservatives, bigots who have issues with any woman who dares run for a political party, and sorry that we are fighting this more than most thought prior to the Trump presidency, the racists and nationalists and/or white supremacists who have come out from their many hiding places.

She, however, is a social media expert with a superb knowledge of an effective clapback.

Is This Why Republicans are Afraid of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez? With Good Reason.

Ocasio-Cortez's Interview Style is Admirable

Laser-focused, very effective, and an assured voice that bears listening to in future congressional hearings.

Perhaps conservative Republicans have every reason to be scared of what Ocasio-Cortez has to say. And she has said, more than once, that "Change takes courage". Indeed it does. Because this is just the beginning of her term as House Representative.

Maybe the first of many terms.

Maybe one of many to ascend to the pinnacles of U.S. leadership. Maybe like the assured, confidently vocal, but more moderate, Vice President Kamala Harris.

Hhhmmm. We'll have to watch and see.

What's Your Opinion of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC)?

Who's Afraid of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez? HBO says Everyone.

Evan McMorris-Santoro, Vice News Tonight on HBO

"You'd think the prospect of a Muslim running for governor of a state President Trump won would be the biggest fear for a certain kind of conservative in 2018."

[Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez] "...is someone people on the right seems to find far more terrifying."

"Conservatives in this country just can't stop talking about her."

Yeah, they're running scared.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez Questions Michael Cohen

According to the Testimony of Michael Cohen...

My take-aways of the Trump financial games include The Enquirer's catch and kill of articles that could have damaged the candidacy during the 2016 presidential campaign, inflated golf course real estate values for insurance purposes, fraudulent deflated values for inheritance transfers and tax return payments, and numerous emoluments clause infractions.

Democratic Nominee AOC on The Daily Show with Trevor Noah - Democratic Socialism and Grass Roots Donations

Although the entire interview is valuable to understanding AOC's platform, these are the two topics that show real change to the usual Washington politics.

Question: Democratic socialist. "When you use that term, what do you want people to understand by it?"

Answer: "We are capable of insuring that we have the basic frameworks where people can be covered by health insurance, can send our kids to college where we can pursue a very bold action on climate change and save our future, and that is part of a very moral and ethical economy."

"I believe we are morally obliged to pursue it."

By refusing funds from big corporations or corporate PAC money, AOC is not beholden to grant favors in return. She is walking the walk for ending the acceptance in her campaign of big money contributions by special interest groups. This can get in the way of a citizens first morality in law-making. And this idea is contagious. Thankfully so. An epidemic of PAC funding denials would be ideal.

She also said when it comes to getting committee assignments, there is an implication of purchasing them by fundraising.

The above interview was prior to her election. I wonder how she did because she since has been assigned to the Committees of Financial Services, and the Oversight And Reform. Bravo! Could be a perfect fit.

Fake Fears about Alexandria Cortez in 2018 ~ A Socialist Threat to the U.S.?

  • AOC is too young
  • She's too pretty
  • She's too educated
  • She's dumb
  • She's politically naive
  • She's politically underhanded
  • She's poor
  • She's rich, but claims poverty
  • Wants socialism of the Venezuela version, rather than the Democratic Socialism of, say, Norway's happy citizenship. (Remember? President Trump wants Norwegians to emigrate here versus the immigrants south of the border who have real fear of safety for their families.)
  • She must be a threat to Fox News, and the world at large.

Oh. Okay.
Are these attacks feeling a little desperate? Maybe.
Because, otherwise...
OMG, AOC is a super villain!

Are her frightened opponents, like unsure cooks testing the doneness of spaghetti, just throwing any claim at the wall to see what sticks?

What is It About Ocasio Cortez that Scares Hannity and Stations Like Fox (Entertainment) News?

Could it be...

A real fear that she could be truly successful at implementing Democratic Socialism into the current 2 party system? As the apparent state-sponsored TV station of the former Trump presidency, this could be a valid threat to the future of severely biased conservative TV stations. And I said "biased" with hint of sarcasm. All out lies as told by the the Former President Trump, and passed on by hypocritical RINO republicans, is only news because of the viral social media sharing of this complete misinformation, and using any channel available that programs purely for ratings. OANN and NewsMax may well be under threat to get their "news" in line with reality versus opinion.

(Some of these statements partly said as tongue-in cheek.)

Controversal Statement: Maybe We Should Not Have Babies

Maybe she choose the wrong words, but many are choosing to delay, or to not have children at all, for one or many reasons of their own.

Here's just a few possibilities:

  • other life or career choices
  • lack of partner
  • little familial support
  • lack of income
  • insufficient living arrangements
  • a mountain of school debt
  • racial tensions
  • climate concerns, destructive or catastrophic
  • its just a scary effing world.

Or they just do not have children in their future plans.

All of which is none of our business.

But Why Would Women of AOC's Generation Not Want Kids?

Here's my train of thought on this subject...

I am not using hard statitics in this next statement, but just generalizations of what I have viewed in my family and social circles. Some of this might sound familiar as I'm sure you may have noticed these trends as well.

Starting approximately 30-40 years ago many women wanted to go to what were more affordable colleges, start a professional career, possibly before marriage, and well before having children. Maybe 10 years or so. Many exercised as hard as they worked so a delay in childbearing seemed doable. However waiting too long to have children may need miraculous but expensive medical intervention. Some adopted, and some decided to forgo more attempts and soley focus on their marriage and advancing their career.

The next generation, which may have older parents, also wanted to go to college, but at a much higher cost, and try to find a career commiserate with their education in a slowly vanishing market with flattening earnings. Many were unsuccessful and have had to accept jobs that did not pay enough to both live and pay of their school debt without assistance from family.

As I stated previously, this supposition is entirely my own and not by facts, but by just looking around my part of the middle class world. Sound about right for your general area, too? That's the generation of my children, and of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, so you might understand why her statement sounds a little heartless when it comes to thinking about not having babies during this point in time.

By the Way... This is NOT Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez

Attempted Slam of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez in a Fake and Poorly Edited Photo

Notice the difference between the real and fake images? It's the forced pixelation by an amateur photographer. That way the changes are less noticeable.

We all have a better camera than this in our phones that we carry everywhere.

Even 10 years ago when Ocasio-Cortez would have been in college. That's the assumption, right? Or are we to believe this happened a year before she ran for office?

Good try, but obvious fail.

Brad. Although I refuse to call you a liar, you are misstating facts. You have posted your views and questions on the HP forum, then bashed other differing opinions with what could be viewed as personal attacks.

Much like here.

Although I doubt this will end this "discussion", heres MY answer to your original question:

Ocasio-Cortez is energizing this country to talk about issues that are important to most of the population. Some might not like the way she goes about it, but much like Bernie Sanders and his focus on raising the minimum wage, the topics are being talked about, and in the end, changing opinions.

Your responses have proven my initial feelings. In view of a desired transparency, I am now approving your comments so they show. This, and the answer above, should cover your previous objections.

If your profile is to be believed, I'm sure you understand this lingo, so do please cease and desist.

You are a bold face liar, I have never been on a forum

I don't do forums.

You need to either be able to discuss your article or stop writing.

You think you are an author, think again.

And again, no one cares about your articles.

Bye Bye

Beth Webster-Duerr (author) from Henrietta, New York on March 18, 2019:

Brad Masters. I've read one of your clickbait-style articles, and have seen many of your forum posts. You have an one-sided agenga and it's not open debate, but argumentative and attention seeking.

Just in case no one has told you, life isn't fair. And I care enough not to give you another spotlight.

Brad on March 17, 2019:

Beth

You think that commenting on my comment but not publishing my comment is fair?

You did all this work on this article, you won't discuss it, and worse of all, no one cares!

Brad on March 11, 2019:

Beth

My comment was a direct question, and your response didn't answer it.

It is a legitimate question, do you have a real answer?

Beth Webster-Duerr (author) from Henrietta, New York on March 11, 2019:

Brad Masters -

As your question seems to be a deliberate baiting, rather than a valid inquiry about Ocasio-Cortez's well known platform, I won't be responding.

Thanks for playing, though.

Brad on March 10, 2019:

What exactly is she doing for America, Americans, and legal immigrants?

Luke Chant from Manchester on March 06, 2019:

I'd only vaguely heard of AOC - the British media had reported that photo as real and I'd never seen a retraction! Not that it would have mattered to me either way! As such this has been educational :) She seems a decent progressive politician and the world needs them right now.
