Aadhaar card, the unique identification number has begun to prove its own importance after the Indian Government initiative to transfer domestic gas subsidies in cash in Aadhaar linked bank accounts. It is just the first step to ensure that subsidies are being paid to right person.   • It has 12 digits unique number.
  • A unique code with 16 digits but only 12 digits are shown on card and rest 4 digits are used internally.

Aadhaar - An Introduction

A unique 12 digit identification number of an Indian individual is Aadhaar. The unique number is issued by UIDAI - The Unique Identification Authority Of India on behalf of the Indian government. It serves as a proof of identity and proof of address anywhere in India.

The main objective of Aadhaar allocation to Indian residents is to ensure that subsidies and benefits of the government schemes are sent to right person at right time. So it is obvious that Aadhaar is not only a unique identification but also an option to serve an individual who deserves the benefit of specific government schemes.

How To Apply For Aadhaar

Any Indian resident can apply for an Aadhaar card without hassle if he/she has required documents. Before going through the process to apply for Aadhaar be clear that till date there is no option to apply online. But appointment can be scheduled online before visiting Aadhaar Enrollment Center.


How To Fill Aadhar Application Form

Follow the steps to apply An Aadhaar card (If you have required documents)

Step-1: Fix an appointment online and then walk in the nearest Aadhaar Enrollment Center.

Step-2: Take the xerox copies of identity proof and residence proof along with original copies. (Hard copy of your photo is not required)

Step-3: Handover the xerox copies to Aadhaar Enrolling Officer with duly filled application form with required information for processing.

Step-4: Enrolling Officer collects the bio-metric information and takes photo using webcam.

Step-5: Ten finger's print and iris scan are taken. Then a receipt with reference number is provided by enrolling officer to check the status of Aadhaar application online.

Step-6: Aadhaar is delivered to door step by post.

How To Apply For Aadhaar Without Documents

Aadhaar card application can also be processed without documents in following ways: -

Introduction System : UIDAI has given an option to introduce the family member by the head of that family with required documents having Aadhaar card. In General this option can be used for children without any proof in the same family.

Another option is also available for the Indian individual without any documents. In this system introducer is appointed by enrolling officers or authorized persons.

Although the Indian Government has taken lots of time to initiate allocating unique national identity of Indian citizen as Aadhaar card but it is excellent step. It is because in future individual anywhere in India need not to worry about local address proof to get service. It will also help to get benefits easily without submitting xerox copies of documents again and again.
